23 - Jugem Memory
Who: Duke and Guy, and also Duke and Sheena
Where: that Zel-filled house
When: Sometime between Zelda going into a coma and Zelda waking up from her coma
Style: [ these? ]
Status: Closed! (maybe link too?)
[ Duke is... just kinda there, in the Ordo-combined-home. Sure, he's keeping an eye on both Zelda and Zelos, and he's not the only one doing it - Link lives there too - and occasionally going out to the hostclub, and it might be hard to spot the change in his mood because he is... normally rather quiet. Although there is also an increase in plants about the inside of the home.
But there is a change, and its not a particularly good one. Duke's been having trouble focusing on much of anything, which results in ... lazy sleeping when he really shouldn't be sleeping. And over sleeping means he's not eating quite as often as he should be...
Although he still washes both himself and the clothing regularly, so at least he's not a slob as well as over-sleeping and under-eating. With occasional gardening. ]

After Duke's talked to Jade about the gardening!
His interactions with Duke so far had been pretty minimal, as Duke seemed to almost always be asleep somewhere whenever Guy walked through the door. But someone, at least, was taking care of things. There was a bit of a layer of dust on things, but all of the flowers outside still looked like they were being cared for... and there were new plants slowly starting to pop up around the windows.
This particular day, Guy had visited the apartment early in the morning and had left one of his notepads behind - something he hadn't noticed until much later. Duke had been very much asleep when he left, slumped in a chair. Guy had tried not to disturb him, but returning to the Ordo home after that long and finding Duke still in that same chair?
Huh.
Duke, sorry, but you're being poked. Or shaken lightly by the shoulder, actually.]
no subject
Ah. Hello Guy. He'll just.. watch you confusedly. ]
no subject
Sorry. Didn't mean to startle you, Duke.
You feeling alright? You haven't been in that chair all day, have you?
no subject
[ Yes. He might have. And.. he'll just quietly ignore that first question, pulling himself back into sitting properly in the chair. ]
no subject
Well, you were sleeping pretty hard when I came in earlier. When were you last awake--?
no subject
[ That is a good question. Duke might have to take a moment to look for a clock and...
There wouldn't be any within easy sight, would there? ]
.. didn't pay attention to time. Was light out, at least.
AUGH so I lost a lot of the tags from before Christmas, sorry if you get flooded in the next 5 min.
[He straightens up, a hand rubbing at the back of his neck. It shouldn't be any of his business, but the question still burned a bit at the back of his mind--]
Have you had anything to eat yet?
no subject
Evasive ground staring go. ]
Not hungry.
no subject
[He doesn't sound particularly impressed. But he lets it go with a sigh, already walking to the kitchen.]
Do you think you could manage something to drink, at least? Doesn't have to be a lot, and it might help with how tired you've been.
no subject
... Could find something. [ He just needs to want to get up first. It might look like he changed his mind about it before he gets up.
Surprise surprise, he went for water. ]
no subject
Have you tried something with a little more body, or some sugar to it? Water is only going to get you so far.
[He's already pulling out the jug of juice and sliding it onto the countertop, quietly searching for a smaller cup. He'll replace things later, of course, but there's no need for things in here to go bad while the whole house sleeps.]
WOW I LOST THIS REPLY-
[ But he's been loosing interest in the time it takes the water to boil, steep, and then cool so he doesn't scald his mouth- ]
IT'S TOTALLY FINE
[The herbs might be doing Duke some good, but it's still not the same as basic nutrition. He pours about half a glass, holding it out to the other man.]
Here you go. Do you think you could stomach this?
no subject
[ It just tastes better, and sometimes he can dump a bunch of sugar or something and feel like he ate -
Guy, he's not actually ill or anything. The only problem he would have with the juice is if it was really acidic or something and he hadn't eaten anything recently.
... which he hadn't really. But hush. He'll take that glass of juice and drink it. ]
no subject
She doesn't take the orthodox way in, either; this is technically breaking and entering, but, well, everyone's in a coma anyway, right? Or at least she's pretty sure that was the case. But! In and sneaking through just in case...]
no subject
And Duke, who... Isn't really doing much of anything. Well, right now he's making his way out of one of the coma-case's rooms, having rolled a sleeper over, but he.. doesn't really have much in the way of plans for the day.
Or maybe he has an idea but just can't.. quite get motivation. At least that might be what staring blankly at the kitchen, then the door, then moving to settle in a chair might mean. ]
no subject
Slipping back out, Sheena's totally prepared to just. Walk right back out and go... do something not in the building. But that other person... Maybe they're close to Zelda and Zelos; they seemed kinda zombie-like.
Sheena figures it wouldn't kill her to try and say hello, at least. So hi, Duke; have a ninja in your general line of sight, now.]
You live here with them?
no subject
He totally didn't just jump. Honestly. He's slipping, though, and it doesn't quite feel good. He's used to knowing when people are about, when did that change...?
He nods in answer to that. Yes, he does. ]
no subject
Lack of verbal answer makes her chuckle a little, moving around and into the room with him properly.]
You are a braver person than me. I can't imagine sharing a space with Zelos for long.
no subject
[ He's trying to imagine how it would be horrible- which is the connection he makes with the "can't imagine" part...
Granted Zelos does like putting him in different clothing and trying to get him to use like.. five different shampoos on his hair... ]
no subject
Yeah. I traveled with him for a while, two different occasions.
[She's grimacing, but it's a vaguely good-natured sort.]
He's such a loudmouth--complaints, ego, hitting on any girl he comes across...
[Not that she's ignorant as to why, but Zelos' pride is spared for now and with two of the home's occupants in a coma and this guy already looking kinda like the walking dead?]
no subject
[ Hopefully his words aren't too confusing, as he'll sort of look at his cloths when he says that - not that he's currently in anything Zelos picked out. But Zelos has gotten him into dresses and things so- ]
no subject
Yeah, sometimes I wonder about that guy.
[She laughs again, still a bit softly, maybe a little fondly--maybe. It's a ludicrous sort of fond, if it's anything.]
Though I can't imagine the kinds of things he'd put you in; I guess if you live here, though, you know him pretty well.
[Ah... or he knows what Zelos wants him to know.]
no subject
[ That... he didn't learn from Zelos- ]
... Are of same world?
no subject
Yup. We met when we were younger and have sorta run into each other off and on ever since.
[She rolls her shoulders forward and closes her eyes as she lifts her chin, emulating a superior sort of annoyance and displeasure as best she can.]
I think fate's just got it in for me and wants me to go crazy as soon as possible. I can't even really get away from him when stranded in another world!
[Except it really isn't that bad. Zelos can be pretty fun to be around, especially when they're just being idiots and trying not to care.]
no subject
Or wished you to have a familiar face.
[ One that you recognize from a long list of memories. ]
no subject
Maybe.
[If there wasn't some huge mess to go along with it. She sighs and sprawls a little, scratching the back of her head.]
So what keeps you around him?
no subject
[ Zelos lives with Zelda, and he likes Zelda far more than he likes Zelos. ]
no subject
[But she quiets for a moment, and even smiles a little. Faintly, but it's there.]
But he's mostly talk. It takes a lot of work, but he's a good guy underneath all that obnoxious attitude.
no subject
... even when he hurts you? [ He could find out if Mithos' words are to be trusted - Zelos had not denied them, but this would be another voice. ]
no subject
It's pretty fair trade, to be honest, and usually for pretty similar reasons.
[Because they're scared.]
He apologizes when it counts.
no subject
Because that sounded like 'she betrayed him too, so it's all good', which he doesn't want to think about. Which meant she had been thinking of more day-to-day interactions... ]
... Form of rough affection often taken too far? [ He'll just follow this train of thought, even if it is less... was it important for him to know I the first place...? ]
no subject
But... in a way, she did kinda betray him. She'd betrayed all of Tethe'alla, at one point. Not to mention, she went against his wishes to chase him down --so he wouldn't get his ass killed, to be fair, but...
Sheena takes a second to process the question. Affection? That...]
I-it's mostly stuff like name-calling or saying or doing stupid things to make each other angry or to get back at each other for something.
