How many wonders can one bubble hold?

[With so many questions and very few answers, Rinoa has decided to take things into her own hands and give the bubble and the island a good lookover. Packing a satchel and donned with good "exploration" clothes, Rinoa will be all over the place today. She'll be poking her head into corners and strange holes and inspecting whatever attracts her curiosity.

More than likely the eager but slightly naive girl will be found in some strange position or another while investigating, and if approached, she may just have a question in store. Or at the very least, an awkward explanation as to what she's doing.]

Well, you kind of have to learn how to balance on it first...

[His comment about horses confuses her. What the heck is a horse?]

Horse?

[Hideyoshi blinks only for a moment. Ordinarily he'd be baffled at someone asking what a horse is, but it seems perfectly logical that what's obvious to him would be confusing to someone else, considering that the opposite has been happening all the time since his arrival.]

A horse is this... big animal, about yay big? [He holds his hand up as high as he can reach, although since he's short, that comes out a rather small horse.] Four legs, hoofs, long neck... sometimes they're good for riding. Sometimes they just stink.

[Oh hey, Odin rode something like that, although his "horse" had six legs... That would explain a few things, though.]

Oh so they're riding animals, like chocobos.

Yes they are! Most of the time, anyway. If you know what you're doing. [Not a big horses fan, is Hideyoshi.

Now he raises an eyebrow at her.] All right, your turn. Chocobos?

Chocobos are big yellow birds, basically. They're about this high... [She copies Hideyoshi's demonstration of height, although seeing she's above a fence, she doesn't quite have as difficult a time demonstrating.] They run on two large bird legs, have wings but they can't fly, and have long necks. They're usually easy to handle.

[He nods in eager interest, although the mental image he ends up with is more like a very big chicken than anything else. Ah, well.]

And they're what you people use to get around? [He shakes his head, looking amazed.] I tell you, this different worlds thing, never gets old!

[Honestly, it's not THAT far from what they really look like.]

Well, not so much nowadays. We have trains and cars and stuff back home. They're still fun to ride, though!

[A pause, and then he gives her a dismayed look, comically exaggerated.]

All right - on to your next trick. Trains? Cars? [Vatheon makes him feel like such an idiot on pretty much a daily basis.]

[Oh boy.]

Modes of transportation with wheels. Trains are big connected vehicles - almost like wagons - that are powered by steam or electricity. They can move really fast and they're good at getting a bunch of people to someplace at once. They run on tracks, though, so they can't move all over the place like Chocobos or horses.

Cars are vehicles with wheels, too, that run on gasoline or diesel. They can fit only a few people into them, but they can go just about anywhere so they're sometimes easier than trains.

Whew... [he lets out a long, low whistle.]

You people really are all sorts of sophisticated, aren't you! Things like that - even this city doesn't have them! [And that's utterly mind-boggling, as far as he is concerned.]

Centuries of ingenuity in the making, I guess.

It is sort of weird this place doesn't have that stuff. At least to me. I mean, [She pulls out her SFC] they have hi-tech phones like these and yet no cars? Then again, the exhaust fumes in the bubble would probably kill everyone eventually...

Well. [He thinks about it for a moment, bouncing a little on the balls of his feet.] Suppose you had one of those 'train' things, where would you go with it? Does it go underwater?

[He waves one hand at the bike.] This is plenty enough to get around a city like this!

If you build a tunnel through the water it can go there, yeah. If there was a train here - well, this place is a bit too small for a train. They can take you between whole continents in just a few hours.

Yeah, you have a point. Bikes are fun, too. I haven't ridden one in forever.

But you have ridden one! [He perks up in interest.]

Does that mean you know how to keep your balance on it? I've been falling on my face all morning, and it's a crime to ruin a face like that! [Well. Considering that he has a rather ridiculous face, really, it's safe to say that he's joking.]

Mhmm. It's a matter of practice, really. Honestly, you should have training wheels on the back wheel first. That's how most kids learn.

Ahh, everything in life is really a matter of practice... but training wheels, I like the sound of that! Are they a lot of trouble to make?

I wouldn't think so, if you're good with your hands and working with metal. I'm not an expert by any stretch, though. Might be worth asking over the SFC to see if anyone knows how.

Ahh, no, I couldn't bother the whole city just to get training wheels! [He laughs awkwardly, scratching the back of his head. He may just be a bit embarrassed about letting them all know that he can't ride a bike, too...]

You sure? I don't think anyone would mind. Some people like using their hands and all. [If only Zell were here, he could probably help.]

Just make it Hideyoshi - [He waves one arm before thinking about it.] Ahh, it's the whole naming order thing, isn't it? You do it like the Westerners do?

I... don't know about being a "westerner" but I go by first and then last name, if that's what you mean.

But Hideyoshi it is, then.

You don't have a - no - no, of course not, it's silly to assume you would! No Europe in your world, and no Japan, either.

Never heard of those. We have Galbadia, Esthar, Balamb, Timber, Dollet, and Shumi Village?

[Just... throwing those out there. He probably won't recognize them.]

[Nope, he doesn't, but he listens anyway, before shaking his head.]
