To meet you there, on the other side...
Who:
relinquishing (Guy) and
fonmaster (Ion)
When: Early evening of the 6th.
Where: Pendilum Apartment 3-3
Style: [Action]
Status: Complete/Closed
[Guy wasn't sure how he was feeling at the moment. He was feeling all sorts of things. Confusion was a big one. Concern was another. And that hint of frustration in the back of his mind was bubbling up and threatening to become something more.
He hasn't moved from his spot at his kitchen counter since he had ended his call with Ion, his SFC still leaning against the faux marble top. His gaze is settled on an unseen object in front of him, his hands clenched together under his chin and his brow furrowed. He wasn't as concerned as to why Ion was here in Vatheon - sure, it had surprised him to see the Fon Master, but it wasn't what was causing his immediate concern.
It was the fact that Ion had apparently been dead before his arrival.
And Guy couldn't remember that ever happening.
So now Guy sat, stewing in his thoughts, waiting for said Fon Master to arrive at his apartment. He wasn't about to have a conversation like this in front of complete strangers... especially if they were really both from different points of time.]

Luke is alive. I know asking you to not worry about him will be futile, but I promise you, he is alive.
[Ion laughs to himself.]
This is so strange. I've always been able to read the Score. I've always known one of the possible futures of our world... but the path that we've gone down, that you have yet to travel, I... I'm afraid of altering it.
no subject
Luke was alright.]
Thank you, Ion.
[The questions began rolling in his head - mostly revolving around how they would be rescued, or if Luke had suffered any injuries in the process - but he shrugged them off. Ion had given him the answer he wanted, and that was good enough for right now.]
One of the possible futures... [That was new. The Ion he remembered seemed focused on the Score being a rather direct path to the future - something which never settled well with Guy.
Something must have happened, then? Something important enough to change the mindset of the leader of a religious and political faction.]
Well... whatever the case, Fon Master, I hope it will be a future worth reaching for. Even if-- [Even if you are going to die. Even if I really end up enacting revenge.] --even if it means things are going to work differently than we would hope, hah. [He takes a hold of the pot and hefts it over to the stovetop.] For now -- *hff* -- we'll have to make due with our situation. As strange as it might be.

[He pauses. He really shouldn't ask Guy this question, but he wants some advice here. Guy is intelligent and may have already figured out that Luke was a replica when they saw Asch on the way to Akzeriuth, but better to play it safe.]
Guy, may I ask how you cared for Luke when he lost his memory? There is someone here in a similar situation...
no subject
Well... it took lots of patience and understanding. Some tact. Constantly reminding myself and Natalia that Luke was still Luke, even if he had forgotten who we were or how to do basic things of life. It was difficult - like taking care of an infant or toddler, most of the time - so I don't know if I could explain all we had to do. Luke had to learn how to walk, to talk, to read - basically starting from scratch and working his way back up. Even though it's been seven years, he still doesn't have everything down like he used to, and he still can't remember anything before the kidnapping...
[His brow furrows.]
Is someone else really having that kind of memory loss?

[Ion smiles to himself.]

Well, don't get yourself into too many messes, alright? You've been blessed with a kind spirit, Fon Master, but don't forget to watch our for yourself as well. If this person is acting similar to Luke, then I'd suggest a firm hand and a gentle heart. Patience does wonders as well. [There's that Guy smirk. Luke had required unending patience - he hoped it wouldn't be the case for this other individual.]

[He looks a little gloomy. It's hard for him, feeling like he has to avoid Anise, but he hates how sad she looks when she looks at him.]
Could you watch out for Anise...? I think that seeing me hurts her.
no subject
Of course. I'll see what I can do.
no subject
[And he did. At the moment, he might even have more faith in Guy than Guy had in himself. He had seen Guy overcome many things, and in the end, Guy had treated Luke as his own person. It meant a lot to Ion. The Fon Master laid his head on the counter, watching idly as Guy continued to prepare the food.]
Whoops, lost my tag drive for a couple days there... LET'S GET THIS GOING AGAIN.
Good, the noodles were almost done, and the broth is smelling fantastic. Guy's gonna throw some sesame seeds into that skillet and work on chopping up some leek as he talks.]
It's not a problem.
If you want to stay here for the evening, you're more than welcome. I can go re-make the bed for you, if you'll give me a few minutes after I finish this stuff, haha.
Happens to everyone. Ion has the patience of a saint, np!
[Ion trailed off.]
Though I don't think it would be good for me to stay here permanently. Not until I've done more research on this time thing.
no subject
That's fine, Fon Master.
And hey, please, don't worry yourself over the bed. It's on the smaller side, but that shouldn't be a problem. You're my guest tonight - I can easily crash out here for the time being, haha. [The couches were plenty comfortable - he didn't mind.]
no subject
[He wanted to share the bed! That was the best part about camping and staying in inns - Ion was little, he got to share the bed with someone. He looks over at Guy, pouting slightly.]
no subject
...Hm? What's up?
no subject
[He's scared of the dark, Guy. How can you say no to that face?]
no subject
Seeing as Guy used to get these same requests from Luke not even two years ago, he seems to react rather gently to Ion's request. Which is with a surprise, wide-eyed glance. Within a moment, his eyes soften.]
I'm... afraid I might not be able to make for everyone. But if you really need a companion for the evening... [He gives an awkward shrug and a grin.] Sure. Why not?
no subject
[Ion seems embarrassed, but he's being truthful. That horrible feeling of nothing - no time, no space, no light, no darkness... just complete nothingness. He couldn't shake it even now.]
no subject
Guy fights back a shudder. That still isn't going to settle well in his mind. Even if it is true...
But that wasn't important in the moment. It's late. They could worry about issues like this after a night's sleep.]
Heh, don't worry about it. We can figure out sleeping arrangements in a little bit. First things first, though. You need to have something to eat.
[Yep, he's finishing putting his wonderful little creation together. He slips the bowl of noodle soup in front of Ion, followed pretty quickly by a set of silverware.]
Enjoy! It's not too fancy or anything. But it's supper.
[He sets his own bowl by the adjacent chair before going back to the kitchen to heave pots and pans over to the sink. Yep. Can you tell the man is a servant?]
no subject
It's very good. I don't think it needs to be "fancy".
[He continues eating delicately. Making a mess in Guy's home after he invited him in and offered to let him stay the night would just be rude.]
Alright, time to handwave a little bit.
Terrific! I haven't made this in a while, so I was afraid I'd be a little rusty.
[Luke didn't tend to enjoy udon, so yes, he was a little out of practice. He'd have to work on that. But for now: dinner. Oh Score, he was starving.
They worked on the meal in relative silence, for the most part. But for Guy, at least, things felt just a little bit more at ease than they had earlier in the day. There were still lots of questions he wanted to ask of the Fon Master. Heck, he probably would, if Ion hadn't just been risen from the dead.
For now, he was just glad to have a familiar face around. Even if it wasn't the exact Ion he remembered, it was still Ion. That was more than enough.]
