Who: Zelos and whoever finds him
Where: On the island at the beach, waaaaaay far down the beach, trying to avoid sharing his thoughts
When: All day and well into the evening

[This month was already shaping up to be Zelos's worst yet here in Vatheon. Not only had that illness curse knocked him out for way too long, his own stupidity had lead to not only him making an idiot of himself - that he could handle and often did on purpose - but brought to light some things he was not prepared to deal with, so when this curse displayed every single morbid thought or memory that crossed his mind, he decided to do just as his roommate had done and get the hell out of dodge.

Unfortunately, Vatheon is a small enough bubble that the Chosen had a hard time actually getting away from people. The furthest cranny he could find, and thus where he'd rooted himself, was the beach up on the island and so the day finds him pacing the beach, having discarded his shoes in favor of walking barefoot on the sand and idly picking up shells, trying to clear his mind of anything in particular. He's managed to keep his thoughts on the sand and the surf so far, with the occasional thought of Altamira's warm sun or brilliant fireworks.

We'll see how long that'll last.]

[Shrug.]

Things. Everything. How much this place sucks. Why the sky is blue?

[He lets out a heavy sigh, thoughts and memories flashing through his bubble entirely too quickly to be processed... and then it stops on that same girl with purple hair. Zelos looks at it like it's betrayed him and snags it out of the air, attempting to pop the thing but to no avail.]

Something happen to make you upset?

[He's pretty aware that it's not his business, but he's spent the past few days listening to other people's problems. And if all else fails, maybe he can come up with something to take Zelos' mind off of it. Something that doesn't involve accidentally getting into a fight with him.]

Me? I'm never upset.

[He squashes his hands together over the bubble again, distending the image of that same purple-haired girl looking desperate into something akin to what one would find in a funhouse mirror. Frustrated, he lets the bubble go, his frustration manifesting in his thoughts visually as a black squiggle that takes up the whole bubble, finally obscuring the picture.

After that, there's no way Cielo's going to believe he's not upset.]

Okay maybe I am but it's not really something I want to talk about.

[Sorry, you didn't fool him for a second.

If Zelos doesn't want to talk, that's fine. Cielo knows from experience when to push and how much. In this situation? The answer is not at all.]

Then what you need is something to take your mind off it, ja?

[Blunt as a brick but he's right. Zelos nods, his bubble showing nothing but a dreary, rainy sky. It's either symbolic of his mood or what he's chosen to focus on to keep it clear.]

Sometimes this place just gets to a guy, y'know?

[Cielo doesn't make the connection between rain and unhappiness - he's used to rain being a constant. His thought bubble simply just shows a question mark. How can he help?]

I could fly for you. Or we can do something you find fun.

[Of course, something Zelos "finds fun" is of a much more adult nature and his bubble flickers with two figures in silhouette, one obviously meant to be Zelos and the other a buxom woman with long hair locked in a tangle of limbs. The woman's figure turns quite obviously into Cielo for a moment before Zelos looks incredibly weirded out and forces the picture to show the sky as it is, blue and open.]

Right, yeah, flying. Flying's good!

[Fortunately for him, Cielo doesn't really understand what's going on in that thought bubble and chooses to ignore it, changing back into his demon form, first getting airborne with a hop before soaring upward with a powerful flap of his wings.

It takes him only a short amount of time to build up speed and soon enough, he's circling around the area, making sharp turns, performing loops, spins, and barrel rolls, and dives. But that's not all he does: he also charges up his electricity magic and this time, his target is himself. Single strikes, multiple bolts, he aims for himself and each time, he dodges his own magic.

This was originally something he came up with to improve his reflexes and speed, but it only occurred to him recently that maybe it would be entertaining for someone to watch.

And maybe he wants to show off every once in a while.]

[The show is quite spectacular and for awhile the background noise of his thoughts fades as he watches Cielo juke and dodge through the air, his bubble simply reflecting what he sees in the sky.

Flight is something that's always interested Zelos, and one of the few things he can honestly say he likes about his Cruxis Crystal, though he mostly hates himself for putting it on, selling himself out through cowardice willingly when so many were forced into such things, Colette included. His bubble shifts to when they'd mounted his crystal in the crest, the excruciating pain evident on his face when they'd grafted the gem not simply to his skin but to his soul, changing how his body processed mana and granting him elongated life, wings, and various other boons but at a price...

Even if Cruxis had been defeated and the Chosen system abolished, he still felt he was paying that price, but at least he had the wings. He wonders if Cielo would mind if he joined him up there, once he stopped shooting electricity everywhere that is.]

[It's not long before Cielo stops. As fun as this is and as much as he's doing this to cheer Zelos up, expending all of his magic is a Bad Idea. As friendly of a place Vatheon is, (compared to the Junkyard, anyway) you never knew when you needed your magic. Once he's finished, he drifts back down towards the beach, hovering a few feet above the sand.]

Pretty good, ja?

Quite the show, yeah!

[He even claps a bit, then grins and pops his wings back out, an array of shining gold petals floating from his back.]

How about a race?

[His bubble rolls through several courses they could take around the island and finally settles on one unlikely to encounter monsters but long enough to give them some good exercise.]

[A race? YES PLEASE.]

I'm the fastest in my Tribe. You won't beat me.

[One would be hard pressed to find anyone faster than him anywhere in the Junkyard, not just in the Embryon. If there was anything he prided himself on, it was his speed, either as a human or a demon.]

We'll see about that! They don't call me the Great Zelos Wilder for nothing~

[Actually he's pretty certain Cielo will probably beat him. He's only had his wings for a year or so now and the opportunity to fly doesn't come often. Still, he's quite pleased just to get in the air again, his bubble brightening up and filling again with clouds and the ground speeding on by.]

[A year? Zelos has had wings longer than him. Cielo's only had his demon form for a couple months. However he definitely does do a lot of flying, the advantages his demon form offers in a fight are huge.]

Whenever you're ready, ja?

[And this is one of the reasons he likes Vatheon. How many opportunities does did he get to do something like this in the Junkyard? Close to zero. He usually never had the time for casual flying and he was lucky if it was even safe enough for him to rise up fifty feet above the ground.]

[Grinning, Zelos does a quick loop in the air then floats alongside the demon.]

Ready...

Set...

......

Go!

[And off he zooms, red hair flaring out behind him like a comet tail, following the route he'd worked out in his head. His bubble, however, is for once completely blank. It's simply a bright and happy yellow.]

[All it takes is a strong flap of his wings to get going, matching Zelos' speed.

If he thought flying was fun, having someone else to fly with was even better. There were others who could fly back where he came from, sure, but not like this. It was mostly work back then - reconnaissance, battle, or patrolling, mostly, and most of them couldn't come even close to his speed.

Only here can he just let loose and tear up the sky. It won't be long before the two of them make a full lap around the island.]

[Zelos isn't as fast as Cielo; he's smaller and he's not quite as aerodynamic, but it's really not something he cares about. The wind in his hair, the scenery flying by... This is exactly what he needed to get his mind off everything.

He does a roll in midair, watching the ground become sky and the sky become ground and back again, laughing brightly as Cielo passes him up. He rights himself and races after, having no hope of keeping pace but he never gets too far behind either.]

[It's a shame that Cielo can't see the sky or the ground right now, but he doesn't mind. What he can't see with eyes, he can see with his other senses. He can smell and feel his surroundings it and that's just as thrilling. A sixth sense tells him that Zelos has fallen behind, but that's all right. If the distance gets too great, he'll slow down a bit.

But he never has to as that never happens. It's not so much a race anymore as it is a fly around the island and once they've completed a full circuit, he lets out a roar in joy.

Hope anyone else on the island didn't mind hearing that.]

[Zelos arrives back where they started a bit after Cielo but not too far behind, slightly winded and quite pleased. He grins at his company, able to recognize the roar as one of glee and nothing threatening and nearly lets one out himself, but he settles for a bout of laughter instead, flying a lazy loop in the sun.]

That was fun, ja?

[His thought bubble shows his demon being happy, but then it realizes that it's kind of hard to show that, and it adds a little smiley face next to it.]

You feel better now?

[Crossing his arms behind his head, Zelos floats in the air like one would back-float on water.]

I definitely needed a little fun. Any time you need to go for a fly again, you let me know, okay?

[His thought bubble floats lazily behind him, displaying none of the worries that had been running through his head before. Just a calm, happy pink.]

Will do! You let me know if you want to too.

[His thought bubble shows a picture of a rose bush and...Vatheon mugs filled with dirt.]

Aah, I have to go back now. See you around, ja?

[He's been up here longer than he should have and the plants aren't going to water themselves. And with a loop, he descends, reverting as he does so and touches down on the sand with his human feet. He smiles and gives a wave to Zelos as he walks back towards the elevator.]
