[ If anyone cares to recall, a few days ago there was a new arrival decked in a white tuxedo, top-hat, and monocle going by the name of Kaitou KID. Somehow... he seems to have done the impossible and vanished. Not an easy feat when you're wearing such bright and easily spotted clothing. Maybe he actually did escape the bubble. ]

[ The truth is that Kaitou KID has taken up the identity of the also recently arrived Shinichi Kudo. He's taken up residence in Coral Corral and started to set up camp to the best of his ability. He's even installed a new name plate with the name 'Kudo' engraved into it. ]

[ If you are neighbors with the boy you'll find he's very busy and always going in and out and moving furniture. Not too unlike what he's doing today. He's hauling a few barstools into the house and to do this he's left the door open- ]

[ It become immediately clear that he's been doing some kind of renovating as there is a tarp hanging above a place for a door. He's not anti-social, though he might frown pretty heavily at you should you enter his house without permission. But, if you want to say hello or ask him some questions go right ahead! ]



((ooc: As a side not--Should he hear any kind of music- Kaito will start dancing as that is his 'sickness'))

[Serph had passed by the Coral Corral earlier in the day, and hadn't thought too much about someone hauling stuff into their house. Serph doesn't recognise him, but let's be frank; he doesn't recognise most people living in Vatheon.

However, when he passes by later and the guy's still moving things, he can't help but wonder...

Serph approaches when the stranger isn't carrying anything (yet).]

Do you need help?

[ The boy looks up curiously and offers a grin. ]

Nah, I'm just doing a little bit of renovating-simple stuff. Thanks, though.

[Serph tilts his head, questioning.]

What is renovating?

[He can see that it has something to do with moving all that furniture, but it's nice to have some clarification.]

...Renovating? [ How could someone not know what--ah. Never mind. }

It means I'm changing the basic layout of the house.

[bufudine]

[There are many, many things Serph doesn't know.

He gives stranger a nod of understanding. He understands changing things the base is more suited to his needs.]

What was wrong with the old layout?

[He's curious! After all, people obviously have different needs and priorities to him and Cielo.]

Nothing is wrong with it. [ And it's true. The layout is ideal for a small family or group of roommates. But Kaito has seen past all things a potential home-owner would see at first glance and probably take at face value. He's seen the potential this house has to offer him and all he has to do is take out a few walls and change some appearances--piece of cake for a magician. ]

It simply doesn't meet my expectations.

[bufudine]

[Serph tilts his head again, questioning. However, since this stranger isn't his Tribe -- who are well versed in understanding his silences -- he expands.]

What are your expectations?

I need it to serve as a place of business and a safe house for those who need it. I'm a detective, you see.

[ He also needs it to have several escape paths just incase. But that part is confidential ]

[bufudine]

[Oh, a safe house. Serph can understand that! ...Though the walls of the Coral Corral look far too flimsy in his humble opinion. He's pretty sure a demon could punch through them.

However...]

What's a detective?

[Is it obvious that he doesn't know a lot about anything?]

You don't know what a detective is? [ Kaito just kind blinks, unable to stop himself from picturing the real Shinichi's face if he were here. ]

Basically, it's my job to solve any mystery brought to me-though I tend to be very selective about which cases I accept. It's also part of my job to keep the general public, and my clients safe.

[bufudine]

[Well, that explanation is easy for him to understand! ...Which doesn't happen very often for Serph.

He shakes his head at the question, though.]

There are no detectives where I come from. My world has very little.

...I imagine there's a lot of crime then.

[bufudine]

[Crime is... not something he has a clear understanding of -- it, too, is something that doesn't exist in the Junkyard -- so he asks for clarification.]

What is crime?

[Another name for mystery?]

Ah...

Crime is something done against the law. For example- if the law states you're not to step on a patch of grass- yet you do so anyway- that is a crime. A very minor crime and one not worth my time- but a crime none the less.

[bufudine]

[The way this guy speaks of crime like it is bad. Why would someone even make a law about grass? Nevertheless...]

The laws of my world dictate we must kill--

Murder is exactly the kind of case I handle and I don't take kindly to it.

[bufudine]

[Hah... So killing is against the law... at least in this stranger's world. Serph can accept that this stranger takes cases in accordance to his understanding of law. Junkyard law is pretty terrible, anyway.

Serph nods; he can understand not liking killing.]

Shinichi Kudo.

[bufudine]

[Shinichi... Kudo. The Shinichi sounds familiar. Something about not being Shinichi... Niichan? ...Well the names are different, so it's probably not a problem.

He gives a polite nod. Oh. Right, he should introduce himself, too.]

Serph.

[A pause. He doesn't really have any further questions, and if Shinichi Kudo is fine moving stuff on his own, then Serph will leave him be.]

Certainly. And thanks for the offer. [ He gives him a friendly smile ]

[Serph doesn't return the smile because he's :| all the time. But he does give a curt nod in farewell before he leaves.

[Eventually Ran makes her way over to the Coral Corral, and stands in the doorway silently, arms folded across her chest. She watches Shinichi hard at work, visibly unimpressed.

Yeah, she could help him, seeing as she could probably do all the heavy lifting in half the time Shinichi could, but why bother being nice? It's not like she was in favor of him keeping up his own place. How did he expect to eat any decent meals that way?]

[ He's in the middle of pulling another barstool up the door and stops when he sees the detective's girlfriend standing in his way. This is going to be a problem, isn't it? ]

Uh... Ran, can you move? I need to get this inside.

[oneechan]

[Yeah. This is going to be a problem. Say hello to Miss Liability!]

[Ran lets out a sigh-slash-grunt as she steps towards Shinichi, yanking the bar stool from his grip and propping it on her shoulder as she led him inside.]

You'll never get this done by sun-down if you don't have at least some help, dummy.

[Ran snorted in reply, setting the bar stool down loudly before turning to him and planting a hand on her hip.]

[ Danger flags. They are shooting up all over the place in his head. Tread carefully Kuroba. Do not get yourself roundhouse kicked. ]

...D-Do you have to look annoyed? I'm just trying to furnish a house.

[That was the point, Mister Detective!Fail!!]

Yeah, well. If you're not going to stay with us, you could at least let me help you put it together. [She scoffed as she walked back past him outside to where more furniture was.]

We all know you won't be able to move tomorrow if you do all the heavy-lifting yourself.

Are you mad at me for not moving in with you and Conan-kun?

....no. [Not exactly.]

Though it would've been nice if you would at least come and see me--us. [Quick amendment there.]

[kid_in_disguise]

[ Raising an eyebrow ]

I've been kinda busy. Give me some time to settle in, jeez. What, you think I wouldn't come visit?

[oneechan]

But you could've let me help you, at least! [Ran balls her hands into fists and stiffly brings them to her side.]

I didn't want to bother you with something like this--you have enough on your plate just watching Conan-kun. That kid is two handfuls.

I bet he'd calm down once he saw you. [Ran muttered below her breath. Besides, Shinichi could help! He'd know better than anyone how to keep the mini-sleuth's mind occupied, if anyone did!]

Er... maybe. [ Or maybe it'd just make him mad. One of the two. ]

I know he would! [Ran balled her hands into fists, lifting them to her chest.] He talks about you all the time! He's missed you so much!

[ Somehow Kaito gets the feeling that what she means to say is 'I missed you so much.' ]

[ Everything Kaito wants to keep hidden at the moment is hidden. He's going over some ideas for that living space before catching sight of the guy looking in the house. ]

I didn't sneak up on you, you're too busy being nosy you're not aware to anything else going on.

Well, if you didn't want anyone 'nosing' around, you shouldn't had left the door wide open. [Because my anti social disorder of being a creepier is going to kick in]

I had to leave the door open so that I can haul stuff inside.

[ He gestures to the tarp with a jerk of his thumb ] Renovating, what else?

[Chie happened to pass through the Coral Corral area frequently since she also lived in one of the lower district neighborhoods, but she never really paid attention to who lived in the area.

But today Kaito Shinichi Kudo caught her eye- was that guy moving in? She hadn't seen them around before...maybe he wanted some assistance. Helping people was something Chie liked to do, after all!]

[ Kaito looks from Chie back to his house-pondering the idea. As it stood, anything he didn't want anyone to see should be nice and hidden so a little help couldn't hurt. And it'd definitely save on time. ]
