A song of healing

Who: Sheik and anyone that hears him
When: February 14th, sunset
Where: The highest perch he could find, near the plaza
Style: I'll match!
Status: Open~

[The aftermath of the curse had been painful for many, and the Sheikah felt the need to help the city. The memories of being a siren were far too fresh, so he chose this form to do it. Finding the highest spot that he can, he takes out his harp and sings the Song of Healing, praying for all those with heavy hearts right now to find some peace. His voice is soft and low, but it carries across the plaza with ease, seeking out those that might need to hear it.]

I like when she's happy.

[He smiles slightly, but it doesn't reach his eyes. It's an old smile, one not suited to the face of a replica less than a year old.]

It's still better if I avoid her, for her sake. It just hurts her too, me hanging around. She's happier if I'm not there, I'm sure of it. [Mostly because she always seems so sad when I'm around.]

[The hug surprised Sola, Sheik catching his arms so he's unable to return it and instead just sits a little wide-eyed with his chin on the Sheikah's shoulder.] N-no, I just... I don't want to see her make that face.

[Color creeps into Sola's face the longer the hug continues, feeling both comforted and something he has yet to learn to describe, his vocabulary on such things as emotion being quite narrow.]

[At Sheik's fingers in his hair, Sola relaxes ever so slightly, the unfamiliar warm feeling in his chest starting to settle and become less of a curiosity and more of a comfort.]

N-no, but I mean... I just don't want to see it. [His voice trails off, muffled into Sheik's shoulder as Sola closes his eyes and allows himself to indulge in being petted.]

[It's nice, sitting here with Sheik, warm against each other against the descending cold of the early evening. It's different than when Signless hugs him but no less pleasant. Sola curls his knees up, adjusting himself closer to Sheik without giving the move much thought, only that there's comfort there and he so desperately needs it right now.

Nevermind that Sola's subconscious urges him closer just to put his nose against Sheik's neck. He can smell the clean cotton of the bandages and something else, familiar and comforting but he can't place it just now.]

[That song... it feels like a part of him, like something he should know and has forgotten but once it's in the air, the notes floating through his ears, he can't imagine ever not knowing it. Sola's voice joins Sheik's, oddly higher and thinner and inexpertly utilized, but charming, in it's way. He weaves in harmony, taking a back seat to Sheik's stronger voice as if it were his place, Sola's due to provide harmony and not melody, to not stand alone and instead follow; the song is his, but it also isn't.

The replica seems unaware of this, however, relaxing completely against Sheik's shoulder and listening to his voice more through his body than in the air. It's nice, this. It would be nice if he could feel like this always.]

[There's a contemplative, almost sleepy noise as Sola answers.] Was I? I don't remember.

[Had Sheik given him the instrument? Or was that before they'd met? His overwrought mind was failing to keep things in order after such a trying several days. Having finally relaxed for the first time since the curse's end, Sola felt as if the life that he had heretofore considered a great burden may not be quite so encumbering. Not if someone like Sheik will hold him and sing.

Is this what Gamzee meant? He's not sure, but there's... something. Something good. Maybe it isn't so hopeless, though it makes Sola blush to admit that even privately in his own mind.

Maybe he can love someone else.]

[Sola mutters wordlessly as Sheik begins rocking, finally giving in to the weariness that only his inner turmoil had kept at bay since the curse. The small spark that Sheik had nurtured into a light of hope slowly burns at the edges of Sola's dark thoughts, eating away at them and making the world seem just that much less oppressive.

It isn't long before Sola's asleep in Sheik's arms, curled up against his chest and nose pressed against the Sheikah's neck. Finally, restful sleep.]
