[She actually has to stop and think for a moment. She didn't think her cunning plan through.]

Because that's how it works! Someone says freeze, and you gotta stop moving. Kinda like freeze tag, but with no tagging.

[Kanji looked down at the girl holding a water gun up at him and telling him to freeze. He'd give her credit for guts, since most people tended to give him a wide berth, but he was annoyed for some reason and picked her up by the scruff of her neck.]

Or you'll do what, pip squeak?

[She responds by squirting the squirt gun at him.]

[She might be small like Nanako, but she wasn't anywhere near as cute as Senpai's little sister. He uses his free hand to wipe the water from his face before snatching the squirt gun from her chubby hands and breaking it.]

That wasn't nice, little girl.

Yotsuba responds as any five-year-old would: by wibbling and bursting into tears.]

[God. Damn. It. And now there's the guilt. He can't stand to see girls cry, even little obnoxious ones like this one. Tucking her under his arm, he rifles through his jacket, producing a tiny, pink plush rabbit that he shoves in her face.]

Take this. Stop crying. And don't try to steal from grown ups again. [Not that he's a grown up at sixteen, but she doesn't need to know that, okay.]

[She stops crying when she has the small rabbit. She's so surprised at suddenly getting an adorable toy that all she can do is stare down at it.

She also missed everything Kanji said, but she isn't crying anymore at least?

But then she looks up at Kanji.]

I get to keep it?

[Now that she's not crying and trying to rob him, he can see that she's just as cute as Nanako-chan. And she's looking up at him with an adorable expression as she clutches the rabbit.]

Y-yeah, you can have it. Just... Don't try to rob me again, okay?

[She's still giving him a blank look.]

Rob you? But I was gonna tell you to play games with me.

[She has no need for your money, Kanji. She barely understands what money is.

She totally was going to rob him, though. Just for things like ice cream and toys, not money.]

[Good thing she doesn't want money, because he's still trying to find ways to make it himself in this strange city.]

Then you don't need that squirt gun. You just ask people to play with you. Although, you should probably be careful who you ask. Some people might be perverts and then I'd have to kill them.

[Look at her, karate-chopping the air with her free hand (she's holding the rabbit in her other hand) while looking around forany suspicious characters.]

There ain't any here now, kid. You just...enjoy your rabbit, okay. [Gotta resist the urge to rub her hair. She's cute now that she's not pointing a squirt gun at him.]

[Congrats, kid, you picked the one guy who can literally freeze on command. Not getting frosty just yet (because who's that easy to startle?), but he's gotta blink down at Yotsuba for a second or two before he realizes what's happening.]
