[ Planning on going somewhere by the easier roads today?

Might not be the best idea, questing ones and those just wandering around. There's a large, white, winged cat taking up seat in the middle. Large as a lion, the odd bit is besides the wings, that's not a cat's head, but Duke's.

He doesn't seem too bothered by the fact he's now a sphinx. In fact, there are a few bird feathers on the ground by his paws. He's discovered how easy it is to snack on flying things, and is now waiting for any travelers to want to pass. ]

[ she hems and haws over it for a lot longer than she probably should, but doesn't really make any headway. Finally, she gives in, flatting her fins back against her head. ]

[ His tail starts twitching a bit more like a cat who has spotted a mouse.

Some part of him says that jumping on the dragon is a bad idea, but the rest says that if she answers wrong, then she's dinner. The second is growing stronger. ]

Are you asking a clarifying question or giving up? [ It's rather important he knows this fine detail. ]

The first, two and an answer. The second, yes. [ Followed by a smug, cat like smile. Might not be the best choice, even if it is dragon vs sphinx. ]

[ A rumbling purr-like noise. He's thinking. ]

May happen while one rests, or while one distracts them self. Rest is ordinarily in the dark. [ He's talking about sleep and daydreams, but oh well. ]

What happens while you rest... well, then, the answer isn't resting itself. If you're resting in the dark, then you are probably sick or worn out. Am I on the right track?

[ Whoops. And then she hit the cultural barrier! ]

Originally inhuman, assumption. Riddle meant for races not of nocturnal sort. [ Since there was a problem in understandings, flicking his tail and allowing her to continue her thoughts. ]

Ah! So it was made for humans. And they sleep at night, right?

I don't know, the only thing that happens when you sleep is... nothingness, or nightmares! But that doesn't work either.

Well it works halfway, but not the rest. I don't see why anyone would want to dwell in a nightmare

[ More tail-swishing. This is seeming like he will get a chance to attack. But he's also confused that she seems focused on the negative... ]

Uncertain what to do when the answer is something that is completely unfamiliar in concept to the one challenging......

Perhaps the first. [ His role tells him nothing about what he's supposed to do with other Large Creatures who come to answer riddles, but the idea of her flying over was a big No. ]

What goes up and never comes down?

Ooh, okay, let me try this one. It's probably not an object! I bet it's an idea! Moods go up, but they also go down. So does temperature! Time goes... everywhere but never really up and down. Could it be a number that goes up but not down?

[ She quiets and ponders over it for a good minute, before she gives the look of a dragon having a dawning realization. Whatever that looks like. ]

I got it! Is it your age?

[ A pleased rumble. ]

Correct. [ And he'll lazy cat get up and sit to the edge of the path. ]
