[ That topiary garden was most definitely not in the forest clearing yesterday but hey, it's up now and looks to be the sort that should have taken weeks to set up. There are rosebushes in both white and red (some of those red ones look red. How odd.) as well as several pieces of topiary shaped like leaping hares and mock turtles and dormice. Amongst the topiary in a clearing are white tables and chairs set for what seems to be for tea. The maids of the cafe are dressed in blue and lace, along with matching striped white and blue stockings and mary janes. It seems the Master of Ceremonies has chosen Alice In Wonderland as the underlying theme for the maid cafe's debut event.

The food is, as well, similarly themed. Tea comes with delicate little sugar rabbits. Pastries are adorned with tiny playing cards. Feel free to order whatever your little heart pleases.

Mephisto himself is seated in one of the chairs in the corner, eyes trained on the girls and any incoming would-be patrons. He's calmly sipping his tea, stirring in one of those sugar rabbits and looking quite pleased with the way things seem to have turned out. There's a small sign on his table that reads "Kleine Engel - now hiring".

When evening comes, paper lanterns begin to surround the parameter of the topiary garden and setup. Fireflies start to come out, adding a surreal glow about the area.

Care to take a load off? Have some tea and cake? Inquire about any open positions?]

[ Most things came free in Vatheon, but that didn't mean that having some local currency in your pocket wasn't useful. Especially if you wanted items from the Nostalgia Nook. Really though, Annabeth always liked to have a contingency plan and you never knew when some cash might come in handy.

So when she spots the now hiring sign while with Saber, she's already open to the idea. Sure, it's a maid café. Sure, she'd rather fight a hundred monsters in the deepest pits of Tartarus than don a maid costume. But they were bound to have other jobs, weren't they? A café could not run on maids alone, even cute Alice-in-Wonderland-style maids.

They seem to be of one mind as they approach the slightly shady looking gentleman seated behind the table. Annabeth can't pinpoint why he seems slightly shady, but he doesn't seem to mean any harm and his establishment is certainly beautiful, especially at twilight. ]

Hello. I was wondering - do you have any jobs other than... waitressing?

[ Admittedly, he's already started to size them up when they came within eyeshot of his table. An interesting pair, these two. They didn't seem familiar though he does admit, they both would look rather fetching in a maid outfit. ]

It just so happens we've been lacking a bouncer these past few months before the flood... However, I'd like to know what you'd be interested in doing before I offer anything more.

[ As they approach, he makes a vague hand gesture which causes two chairs to float over and settle down in front of the table. Another hand gesture is just a simple motion for them to sit if they so please. ]

But please. Have a seat. May I offer you some tea?

I would be personally interested in the position of a bouncer. [ Saber looked to Annabeth after speaking, hoping she wasn't intruding on the idea if Annabeth also liked that. ]

I'm called Saber. [ The knight bows her shoulders and head slightly and then takes a seat in one of the chairs.

Saber won't accept or the deny the tea; she'll leave that one up to Annabeth. She has no idea how long they'll be staying. ]

[ Annabeth doesn't mind at all. She likes the idea of being a bouncer herself much better than being a maid.

When the chairs arrive, Annabeth's happy to take a seat and accept the tea for the time being, and she nods to their host in acknowledgement. Some social niceties may count towards them getting a job after all. ]

You'd make an excellent bouncer, Saber. I'd also be interested in that kind of position, sir. I'd be far more use to you in the arena of keeping out unwanted customers than in doing dainty work.

You don't happen to have two positions, do you?

[ Already making notes of these two. He assesses them both and truth be told, they would make rather fetching additions to the serving staff but he was sure that with a pair of bouncers, both staff ~~and Vatheon in general~~ would feel safer. ]

How could I turn you both down? We do have to ensure the staff's safety after all. However, I would request that during events or high-traffic days that one of you assist us in shifts, at least.

[ Small shrug. ]

Mind if I get your names?

[ Assist during high-traffic shifts.. yes, Saber could do that. She was assuming that since she'd already be dressed the part of a bouncer, that she would remain as such. ]

I'm called Saber, [ the knight repeats, tilting her head slightly as she looks closely to the man, ] and I don't believe I know who you are.

[ Events and high-traffic days? Surely there wouldn't be too many of them, and she's sure she could still waitress in her bouncer's gear. ]

Sounds fine to me. I'm happy to help out wherever I'm needed. My name's Annabeth Chase, demigod daughter of Athena.

Miss Saber and Miss Chase. A pleasure to make your acquaintances.

[ Complimentary tea and macaroons floating over for the two of you. ]

I am Johann Faust V, owner and proprietor of Klein Engel. I'm quite grateful that the two of you have offered your services.

[ Saber reaches up and carefully takes the tea out of the air. ] Thank you, mister Faust. When would you like us to start, and is there any certain dress code we need to go by? I do have a suit that I believe is professional enough for the position.

[ Holding the tea cup and saucer properly, Saber begins to sip at the tea. Even with her gauntlets, she handles the tea well and gracefully. ]

[ Annabeth also manages to take the tea out of the air without spilling anything, and lets herself try one macaron. They look so pretty after all. ]

A pleasure to make yours too, Mr Faust. I don't have a suit yet but I can easily get one if it's part of the uniform.

[ That's pretty much what she'd expect to wear as a bouncer at a maid cafe. She watches subtly as Saber takes tea, marvelling as always as how graceful the knight manages to be even in her armour. She sips at her own tea, pleased when it's warm and spicy, just the way she likes it. ]

I have a small arrangement with a certain Miss Kanaya over the matter of uniforms. She's been rather supportive and I can't quite thank her enough.

[ He's pleased these two are every bit as refined as they've presented themselves. Very pleased indeed. That was the first thing he wanted to ensure with any future staff. ]

Given the nature of our events, we shall be presenting you with a different uniform with each event but you shall be provided one for everyday use.

[ Saber sets down her tea saucer and cup with a nod. Hopefully, she liked the default uniform. The knight could accept that events meant one should dress up more, but she wasn't the type to really like to over do it when it came to wardrobe.

With that, Saber had no more questions. There was always the question of pay, but money wasn't as big of a concern to Saber as it could have been for others. She was looking for something to do more to keep her busy than make much out of it. ]

Ahh, well then! If different uniforms aren't a hassle then that sounds fine to me.

[ As long as she wasn't in a frilly dress she was more than happy to change things up to match a theme. She takes another sip of her tea and a bite of the macaron, which is delightfully crisp and airy. As expected from such a lovely establishment.

Likewise, Annabeth isn't too worried about pay, as long as it's fair and in the appropriate currency. ]

Thank you Mr Faust. I don't have any other questions, unless Saber does? And I think I'd be very happy to work here if you'll take me on.
