(no subject)

It has been quite the few days, hasn't it been, Vatheon? That conversation appearing on the network --just who had posted that, anyway?-- the experiment and then the collapse of the bubble and the evacuation. It certainly kept everybody's hands quite busy and full. But now that things are looking at little more calm, with far fewer trips needed to ferry things from down in the bubble up to the island, Station Master makes his move, abandoning his post to seek out people. Who? Well, just about anyone. He seems to avoid groups, instead seeking out people while they are alone, whether wrapped up in some activity, or moving from on place to the other. His purpose? Unclear for now, but if you are a foreigner and you are on the island, you may very well find yourself with a sudden Station Master at your side.

How will you respond?

[Straightening up with a cursory sweep of a hand over one leg of his pants, Kid acquiesces with a somber nod.

That's the one he's heard is called the Station Master.]

I don't mind at all. What's on your mind, sir?

[Kid isn't about to confide in the Station Master, as benevolent as he may seem, in the extent of his weakness, not when admitting any existed to begin with was concession enough for the young grim reaper. He only softens the edge of his silence with a mild smile.]

I'm more concerned with the chances that the barrier will heal, personally. I'm afraid that concern grows more immediate with each day.

[Tucking his hands into his pockets, he begins to walk.]

That I had a hand in the sundering of such a perfect, immaculate sphere. I'm disgusted. Mortified.

[That's something Kid had dared to hope for, but not with the sort of unshakable hope that some of his friends are capable of; right now, surprise overtakes a rush of enthusiasm for the very idea.]

It can? Do you know how?

[There's a moment of mute stillness, during which Kid stares over his shoulder at the Station Master.

Before one can chalk up his reaction to mere incredulity:]

That's ridiculous. Why not?

...

[He's got a point. Much as he doesn't like being denied the answers he wants right at this very moment, there's a beautiful fairness in communicating with everyone, all at once. Having the entirety of Vatheon's population on the same page, to work in concert to a mutually beneficial end.

Yes. That's enough to exercise patience.]

I see. Then, why tell me this now?

[That makes sense; it's a theory he has heard before, a number of times. Most approach it with a 'well, they're going to know anyway' cavalier attitude, but...]

For a meeting involving everyone at once... neither can the elevator fit everyone interested in repairing the bubble, I'm sure.

[He cups his chin with a hand, while Pip bristles, pushing his little body up against his leg. Kid fails to notice.]

Isn't there a building near the elevator? Perhaps we could meet there, with greater privacy?

[YOU AREN'T MY DAD YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO D (this is stupid)]

How considerate. Then, when is this meeting to take place?
