Summary: Events back in his world have left Dirk with a lot on his mind. The best way to deal with that is obviously to beat up something, right?

[It's been almost two weeks since Dirk returned to Vatheon, and it hasn't been the best, to say the least. What's worse is that there hasn't even been a curse to make it shitty. The only problem is him. Because most of it's his fault, really. It's his fault things are still awkward between him and Roxy, it's his fault there are still problems with Jake, it's his fault that Jane's feeling awkward. Somehow. The house has been completely full of awkward, and he's really getting tired of it.

That's why he takes one of his prototype robots out to the park, in theory to test its reactions, but somewhere along the line 'testing' turned into
'beating the shit out of,' until finally it went down in a dented, sparking heap.

As soon as it stops working, Dirk prods it with a shoe, scowling down at the wreck he's reduced his bot to.]

[Rainbow Dash loves the park. It's not as roomy as the forest area, but she's camped out here quite a few times in the past just for how comfortable it is. She's surprised to see Dirk here, though, especially with a completely decimated robot.]

Hey, Dirk!

[She flies over to him and hovers at a comfortable height for the both of them. No need to hurt the guy's neck just to talk to her.]

Whatcha doin'?

[Dirk kicks the robot again, enough to make the head clang a bit.]

Testing out this thing, theoretically.

[Hey, Dirk, have this dude appear out of nowhere. Joshua's just leaning against a tree.]

An odd place to take a robot to.

Uhh...testing it on how to take a royal beating? 'Cause it kinda looks like it failed that one.

[She's very concerned, here, Dirk.]

[Wow, way to steal his 'sudden appearance' thing. He glances up from the robot's remains and shrugs.]

Garage didn't have enough space to fight it properly, and the island's shitty for this right now.

Well, it was supposed to be able to last a while, considering it's a fucking fighting bot.

[What is there to be concerned about? He just violently trashed a robot that he spent hours building and will probably have to remake from scratch. Clearly he does this all the time.]

[Teleporting is way better than flashstepping, yo.]

And from the looks of things, it has failed that particular test. Perhaps you should've gone a little easier on the poor thing.

[Rainbow Dash lands on the ground at that. Coming from Dirk, that sounds more like he snapped. On anybody else, she'd give attitude right back, but she knows Dirk well enough by now that he doesn't normally do that, so she's willing to let it slide for now.]

Okay, dude, what's going on? The last time you've been somewhat like this was when you texted me about moving out for a while.

[If he'd had a choice, he would have chosen the snark. This is Dash, so he can't exactly brush her off even if he might want to.]

I moved in again when I got back. Roxy would have strangled me otherwise, I bet.

[Unfortunately, the only teleporting he's seen has been used for the purpose of punching him in the face, so he might not agree.]

What's the point in going easy when it's supposed to fight? And it's not a poor thing, it's just a robot.

[Yes, well, this is Rainbow Dash. She doesn't always do what someone wants her to do.]

But if you're uncomfortable living there, then it's probably better to stay out until you guys can resolve whatever the hay is going on between you guys, right?

[Then obviously he should keep it in mind when dealing with Joshua, just in case? ~~granted, he might just get a flowerpot or something fall out of nowhere onto his head.~~]

Funny thing about creating something. You put a piece of yourself into it, making it uniquely your own. It's true in painting, sculpting, acting, writing, and I would dare say in cooking. Building a robot is no different, when you build it yourself.

[He smiles.]

Is it supposed to fight or be utterly helpless while you pummel it into the ground as violently as it looks?

It's just about as resolved as it's going to get, in most cases. Doesn't make it any better.

[Jake's definitely proved that he's not committed to doing anything, if Jane is to be believed, even if Dirk were inclined to give him a second chance.]

[He would stab it. Or throw a puppet in Joshua's face. Or both.]

It's supposed to fight back, but clearly I need to make it better if this is all it can do.

[Which is an invitation to kick at it again, clearly.]

[Meenah is just going to stare in barely contained excitement as he does that. She plays the part of a tough bitch most of the time but it breaks whenever she's faced with something that excites her.]

Booyah! You shore showed that robo-beach! [Flashing all of her teeth in a grin] You should do that again.

...Do you mind talking about why this is even an issue? I mean, I've been keeping my nose outta it 'cause it's totally your business, but...it's kinda looking like it's becoming more than a tiny problem.

Yeah, let me just pull out my spare robot.

[Sarcastic. So sarcastic. And he's putting away his sword now.]

[He won't be impressed by that puppet.]

Or, perhaps, you need materials that can withstand it better to give it a better chance. Unless, of course, the point is to make it weak structurally speaking.

But this is also all under the assumption that you're frustrated with the robot rather than something else.

You need a better robot.

[Sola was just on his way back from giving his birthday gift to Zelda when he spied a shiny through some trees in the park and decided to investigate. Lo and behold, it's the battered remains of Dirk's robot.]

Dirk, Um... are you okay?

Couldn't hurt, I guess. It's all pretty ridiculously overdramatic, though.

You still seem pretty stressed about it.

Using better materials falls under the general category of "make it better." The point is to make it do its job, which is to fight and fight well. There are various means of accomplishing that, but clearly shit's not working in this one.

[It's a good thing he has his shades, because Dirk is just kind of giving Joshua a look.]

Where would you even get the idea that there's another reason?

I assume the pulped remains of this one made it obvious.

[Time to ignore Darkleer in favor of poking at the remains of his decimated bot. For once in his life he's not actually looking to troll and otherwise encourage Darkleer's grudge.]

[Dirk looked up when Sola came through the park toward him, but now he turns back to the robot he'd just wrecked.]

Sure. Need to do a lot of work on this one before it's a proper threat.
