You Can Learn a Lot of Things from the Flowers

Valentine's week, and Selphie was keeping herself very, very busy working away in the flower shop. It was the busiest time of the year, after all. Selphie will be spending her week keeping the shop clean and tidy, rearranging the stock, tying ribbons and pink decorations to everything. She's even done a commerical, which will basically involve Selphie explaining how super important Valentine's day is, and giving a 360 shot of the front of the store to show off all the pretty bouquets.

Talking to customers, giving recommendations too, has Selphie rushed off her feet all week. She's taking her work seriously. So if you're just passing by, or need help with the right flowers to get your loved one, Selphie will be there to greet you - and she's wearing pink this week too especially, even tied a ribbon in her hair. Some come on down, lovers and friends, get your flowers here!

It was Saint Valentine's Day! Such a day of happiness and love! And Italy sure did enjoy it. Any celebration like this was always fun, and of course Italy was equipped for the occasion.

Selphie was probably busy with work, but Italy was kind of lax with it. Exerting that much energy wasn't always on his agenda (unless it was cooking, because that wasn't really work. it was fun).

"Selphie!" he rang out as he opened the door. "Happy Saint Valentine's Day!" As Italy was equipped for the occasion, he'd brought some wine.

Italy's voice called out and mingled with the jingle of the bell on the door. Selphie looked up swiftly from what she was doing, and quickly dried her hands down the front of her apron, "Hi Italy!"

She laughed, moving out from behind the counter, "Happy Valentine's Day to you, too!"

The owner of said flower shop was busy as well, checking orders and making sure they had all the suplies they would need. At times he would run out to restock on things they would run out of, but for the most part, he was inside, making flower arrangements and helping customers. He sleeves were rolled up and he looked a bit disheveled. He had been at this since before he opened the shop.

He was very grateful for all of Selphies help so far. It would help lift the burden of this holiday off his shoulders.

Aya looked over to Selphie, catching her as she passed by really quickly. She was pretty fast on her feet!

"Do we need anything else soon?"

Selphie looked at her boss, blinking as she had to think quick on her feet, "Uh... maybe a couple dozen more roses, some more pink ribbon and..and after that I think you need some tea!"

It was amazing, really, how they were both keeping things running so smoothly. But then, they were both working very hard, and seemed to hold that as important. Still, while she might have been running crazy all day, she reocognised that her Aya could do with a bit of a rest.

At hearing that, Aya blinked, paused what he did, and looked to Selphie. Did he hear that right? More than likely, yes.

"There are more roses in the cooler area in the back, unless we ran out of those, too, the extra pink ribbon is on the top shelf, and...I'll get to the tea soon enough."

When he will take a break was a different story.

Hmm...looked like she was going to have to trick him somehow into taking a break. Selphie grabbed the ribbon and took it through to the very front of the store. She was adding extra curls of ribbon to the bows on the bouquets. But then when the shop was free of customers, she called Aya through to the front.

"Ayaaa! Can you come help me?"

She'd call him through, ask him for some help, then run through to the back and put the kettle on. Hopefully she'd make his tea before he'd finish with the ribbon.

Aya rang up a customer who came to place an order for a couple of days from now before he heard Selphie call out for him. How did she get to the front of the store?

Locking the register, he went over to her, wondering what could be wrong.

"What do you need help with?"

"Think you could finish off these extra ribbons for me, real quick? I just forgot something and.. I really need to go take care of it." Which was kind of true, as she waved her hand generally towards the back of the shop. She doesn't wait for an answer, just presses the ribbon into his hand and gives a pair of scissors.

Then she's off quick as a flash, making a mug of ginger and orange tea for him. When it's done in the next two minutes, Selphie will carefully carry it through for him. She'll watch him drink it if she has to.

"Uh, sure--" The items were shoved into his hands, and Aya had just enough time to watch Selphie skidaddle off to the back. He looked down to the items in his hands and the job at hand before just getting to it. He tied a few ribbons on the sale items before cutting them and curling the ends with the scissor blades.

One down, about ten more to go. It was mostly rinse and repeat, with a mix of some customers coming in for ordering. He did wonder what Selphie could be doing back there.

"when do you get off? I have wine~" he announced. "or we could have wine now~" He did drink wine all the time, but this was some good wine for a good occasion.

Selphie eventually appeared triumphant, carefully carrying a small tray with a mug of hot tea and a plate with a muffin on it. Oh so slowly, she slid the tray onto the service counter and looked up at Aya, a challenging look in her eye and her hands on her hips.

"Looks like it's time for a break, Mr Bossman. And you can't let that tea that I so lovingly prepared go cold now, can you?"

Selphie looked at the bottle and laughed, shaking her head, "Well.. I get off for lunch in about ten minutes.." She's hesitant, if only because she likes to keep up her professionalism. "I guess I could maybe have one small glass of wine.. that would be okay." And given the way her tolerance of alcohol has been built up by Kenshin, it probably would be.

Upon finishing the fifth ribbon decoration, Aya looked up and everything started to make sense. Selphie was far more sneaky than he gave her credit for. Surely he will keep this in mind for any future 'favors'.

She had a point, however. Allowing tea, made with kindness and consideration, to get cold would be pretty rude. Aya sighed and walked over to the counter. There was a faint smile at her gesture.

"No, I can't." He placed the ribbon and scissors down to take up the mug. "Where's your tea?"

As he walked over, Selphie made a gesture towards the chair that was there too. He should be sitting down while enjoying his break, after all. She imagines that he'd enjoy it better in quiet at the back, but this is better than nothing, and her smile showed just how pleased she was to see him picking up the tea.

"Mine? But I gotta be looking after the shop and customers while you're relaxing."

Aya looked around casually, taking a sip of the tea. It was decent, but he won't say anything about it, since he wasn't an expert on making tea, just drinking it.

"Then you can take your break after I'm done." It was then that he noticed the muffin. "Did you make that?"

"Great!" He could wait 10 minutes. "Then we can get something to eat too!" Pasta sounded good for lunch.

Selphie stood beside Aya, grinning brightly when he took a sip. Of course, she wasn't going to argue with him about having to take a break, so she nodded. When he asked about the muffin, she looked down at the thing. It was slightly burnt, and while it wasn't too dry, it was very crumbly. But it tasted okay, she hoped.

"Yeah... They're banana flavoured.." She had been trying, after all, because baking was something she wished so badly that she could do. She just really struggled with it. So she decided not to watch and see if he'd try it, instead taking up the scissors and the ribbon and walking over to finish her decorations.

"Oh! Okay! Uhm...give me a couple minutes to finish this up, and then I'll be ready!" Selphie turned to give a few finishing touches to one of the bouquets she was decorating. Then she disappeared into the back to wash her hands.

In just less than ten minutes she appeared at the front of the shop again, ready to go, "Okay! Lunch time!"

"Happy Valentine's Day, Selphie!" Wallace beamed as he walked into her flower shop. How could he resist by the smells and colours all around him.

"You look radiant today."

Selphie looked up from an order she was finishing for a customer and smiled at Wallace, "Hi! Happy Valentine's Day!" At his compliment she blushed slightly, "Uh...thanks."

"You're welcome. So, did you get many presents and cards from your admirers?" He fished something about behind his back and passed it to her. It was a parcel wrapped up in red paper with a card attached.

Selphie laughed at the idea and shook her head, continuing to finish off what she was doing with a ribbon, "No. I don't get presents on Valentine's day." And she never had. The idea was ridiculous. So when she looked up to see the present she gaped a little, "For me...?"

He nodded. "You should. A lovely girl like you shouldn't be without." He smiled as she took his present and card. "Yes. For you, Selphie. Because I care for you."

Oh wow... This was so weird. Selphie didn't really know what she was supposed to say or do. But she took the present, hiding a blushing cheek with her hand, "Oh... thank you..."

"I hope you like it." Wallace blushed slightly himself. "He wasn't used to giving gifts to girls like this. He'd recieved fan mail and gifts himself before. But this was different.
