And the reaper returns...
Who: William T. Spears and OPEN!
When: Midday on 2/2
Where: Plaza, right next to the fountain
Style: I prefer action tagging, but whichever you'd like.
Status: OPEN!
[ Déjà Vu.
It's not something William T. Spears is all too familiar with. Whether because he'd never experienced it or simply because he'd never chosen to acknowledge when it did happen, is unclear.
That is, until now.
Because, right now, William is standing in the center of Vatheon city, just as any other newcomer would be. Drenched, just as any other newcomer. And confused, just like any other newcomer. Except that this newcomer's confusion is stemming from the fact that he's been through this before. In fact, now that he thinks about it, the events that had taken place just before that sudden splash of water - standing on the remains of the sinking Campania ship, physically reprimanding his subordinate reapers - that all seemed like it had happen before, as well.
Hmm, strange.
He'll remember his time here eventually, of course - how could one truly forget? But for now, with his memory still a bit fuzzy - and his mind a tad preoccupied on how to dry his clothes and hair - perhaps someone could give him a reminder? ]

William... I mean. Mr. Spears... Is it really you?
no subject
Angelina Durless?
[ A hand comes up to adjust his slightly smudged glasses. Just seeing her face is recalling memories of just where he is. Suddenly, he feels as though he'd never left - like being back home for that brief amount of time had just been an odd dream. ]
no subject
It is me. I am still in this place... Do you... remember at all?
no subject
I certainly remember this aspect of arriving here.
[ He emphasizes his point by pushing some dripping bangs back into their proper, parted position with a small huff. ]
Honestly, I do not see why it's necessary to go through this part twice. I cannot even say I remember leaving, to begin with.
no subject
Yes, that is quite uncomfortable. [Sighs.] However, you were gone for a while. About three months, I believe. Did you go back home?
[The towel is probably too small to help him properly dry off.] Would you mind to come to my apartment to dry off? I realize it must not be very proper, but I cannot leave you like this.
no subject
Yes. However, it did not seem any more time had passed. I feel as though I was pulled here at the same point I was previously.
[ Yeah, this towel is not helping him make much progress. ]
I hate to impose upon you, Ms. Durless, but that would be greatly appreciated.
no subject
It is what I have heard, Mr. Spears. Unfortunately, not many can claim to understand the workings of this world.
[An will be glad to take care of William.]
It is no imposing at all. I would not feel well not doing what I can to help.
no subject
So we see if we can log this?
Let us go then. [She guides him to the apartment she now shares with Grell.]
1/2
So lost is he in his own musings that he doesn't realize he's about to walk straight into his own boss.
...Which he ultimately does. Right into his back. ]
2/2
...Mister Spears?
[ There's no denying that stature... that hair... that suit. But what are the chances? At least he knows that the boss is going to recognize him but will he remember...? ]
Quick, sir. What's the name of this city?
no subject
Ronald Knox, watch where you are going. Honestly.
[ He's not so much annoyed at Ronald, but annoyed at his current state of being totally and utterly drenched. That and the whole déjà vu feeling.
At Ronald's question, his frown deepens. He opens his mouth to answer, but closes it again, huffing slightly. ]
I should know this...
no subject
You're back! You're actually back! I was worried sick, sir. You just up and disappeared without so much as a by your leave... thought I'd never see you again too!
[ And... pulling away to hold him at arm's length. ]
Blimey, you're sopping wet. Good thing I've still got that suit you loaned me back at my place.
no subject
Calm down.
[ Okay, awkward moment over, time to regain some normalcy by adjusting his glasses. That final comment, though... it sparks something. A memory. ]
My suit? Ah, Vatheon is it?
no subject
Yeah. Yeah, that's right. You're back in Vatheon. It's been... prolly a couple of months since we've seen you last.
[ Counting his blessings here. Under normal circumstances, that scythe would probably have gone right into his skull. ]
Been a few things that happened. You'll prolly want a report, won't you?
no subject
[ Just don't make a habit of this hugging thing, Knox. ]
An update would be greatly appreciated then, yes.
no subject
Right!
[ Straightening up in that practiced manner like he usually does when doing his reports. ]
'Bout a couple of months ago, you left. Miss Angelina Durless was the first to notice. Had to confirm it myself. M'not sure. Was prolly before Christmas. Just remember you weren't around for that... [ Mulling mulling. ]
Anyroad, Mister Sutcliffe left around the same time and for a bit I was the only one of us left here. Heard the Phantomhive kid and Bassy disappeared too. S'just me and Miss Durless.
Course, Mister Sutcliffe came back a month ago. Doesn't remember a thing about the last time he was here... then there's... him, sir. He's here too.
[ /unsure ]
no subject
Ms. Durless is still here, good.
[ Take that how you will, Ronald, as it's said in his usual flat tone - he's still careful not to let emotions slip at inappropriate times.
That's a bit harder to do though when he hears the brat and his dog have left. A smirk ever so subtly switches the corner of his mouth, but he catches it.
The bit about Sutcliff, that reaction's even harder to tame - much like Sutcliff, himself. An exasperated huff is heard and William's mouth draws into a thin line.
But, it's the last bit that get's the most out of William... ]
Him?
[ His brow furrows deeply. He's not sure who Ronald's referring to exactly, and he's not entirely sure he wants to know. There are few who are worse than Sutcliff and that demon, Sebastian. ]
no subject
That latter bit though, it makes him pause. ]
The Undertaker, sir. S'what they call him at least. The reaper gone rogue on the Campania who did a number on me and Mister Sutcliffe. Came but a few days ago.
no subject
Ah, him.
[ This was a touchy area for William. The Undertaker had, in his prime, been an exemplary reaper - certainly worthy of William's respect. But his latest actions and...state of mind, were less than desirable. ]
Has he been up to anything?
no subject
Not that I know of, sir. Fact of the matter was he seemed a little too eager if you ask me... bit of a concern that.
[ A pause. ]
Should we keep an eye on him then?
no subject
[ Though William has every intention to speak with the Undertaker upon their paths first crossing, and letting him know he'll be keeping close watch on his behaviour. ]
no subject
[ Business manner melting away as he flashes that signature salute. ]
Now... you'd prolly want your suit back, eh?
no subject
Yes, that would be appreciated.
no subject
[ But he sounds genuinely amused, folding his arms behind his back as he turns to go. ]
Isn't this ironic though?
no subject
no subject
I was going to return it, mind. Just mean that the first time I came here, you offered to lend me a suit because I was wet and all... now you're the one who's come in and I'm returning the favor.
no subject
no subject
[ Small shrug as he continued to walk off. ]
The situation's just familiar and all. Come on. I'll hand you back your suit and send you on your way then.
no subject
[ He follows Ronald along, quiet for the most part until he finally pipes up. ]
I will have to find out if my old flat is still available.
no subject
[ Small shrug. ]
Could pop over and check while you get changed.
no subject
no subject
He'll look back, not making any advancement towards the individual, but simply letting him know that he's been found out. ]

It's only a moment later that William has his scythe out at the ready, gripping it firmly in his gloved hand as he scowls at the man. ]
no subject
Of course he's going to investigate.
Wilhelm walks over calmly, not really giving the scythe more than a quick look, expression quite neutral.]
That's quite a greeting.
no subject
Ve, ve, you're all wet~
[ Genius, Italy. ]
no subject
[ Have a British accent to reply to your own Italian one!
William looks rather displeased as he pushes his wet bangs back into their proper place - or at least tries to. ]
