Disciple visits Colmena de Dualscar

[Disciple had made a promise to Psii, and she intended to make good on it. Today she had open, so then today she would stop by to visit. She had been missing all of them, and well... might even feel brave enough to have some very certain words with Dualscar.]

[She wanted to bring something nice with her, but her own hive was a little under-supplied at the moment, so she would venture around the bubble to find what she would need. Varied enough were her stops that she could reliably be encountered throughout most of the bubble, were anyone wishing to speak with her about anything.]

[Eventually, goodies in hand, she will arrive at the front door of Dualscar's hive, and announce herself with a knock.]

Bubbles! Like Gamzee's wicked elixir? I like that, I'll get the bubbly one!

[He pauses for a moment to think over the music. He's not yet been introduced to recording devices, so...]

I could bring my ocarina but it'd be hard to play and eat [~~And kiss~~] at the same time.

Oh, you will not have to play while you eat, silly. Have you not seen anything of the music playing devices in the stores around here? You put songs into them, and...

Actually, you know what. Stay right here, I will be right back.

[With a large smile, Disciple walks off in the direction of an electronics store. She was not exactly the best with them, but she was certain a clerk could help her get what she needed.]

[Bursting with curiosity, it takes Sola all his willpower not to simply follow Disciple into the store. He kicks his feet and picks at the surface of the bench, wondering what sort of thing she'll come back with that will play music. Maybe an enchanted flute, or a little robot band with tiny instruments! That would be awesome.]

[Nothing quite as fancy, I am afraid. After a brief conversation with a store clerk, and couple minutes shopping and a flash of the mark on her left shoulder, she was on her way back. She smiles once again upon seeing him.]

Hello again! Consider this a gift from one lovesick pup to another.

[Disciple hands over a small box and several other smaller flat boxes.]

This is a portable compact disc player, so the clerk said. It will play music by reading the compact discs there in the smaller cases. It apparently involves lasers somehow. The clerk assured me these were some of the more romantic musical options they had.

[A closer look reveals the titles, "Passionate Latin Guitar", "Classical Piano for Intimate moments", "Everlasting Love Songs", and finally "Love Bites: More Romantic Power Ballads".]

You put the discs in, press play and it should work... In theory. The clerk made it look easy.

[Technology was her moirail's thing, not hers.]

Thank you! That's amazing!

[He turns the CD player over in his hands.]

Should we try one now, just to see?

Uhh, yes. Sure. I... will try to remember how the clerk showed me.

[He had made it look so simple... Where was Darkleer when she needed him.]

He said it as very important the blank side of the disc was the one that went face down into it.

Okay...

[Tongue sticking slightly out of the corner of his mouth, Sola puts one disk ("Love Bites: More Romantic Power Ballads") into the little machine and fumbles with it for a moment before deciding the little arrow must mean play. In moments, the two are listening to the first dulcet chords of Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn".]

It works!

Oh! Good work! Much quicker then I would have been able to accomplish. I am glad you were... oh...

[She cocked her head, listening to the music briefly. She had never really stopped to listen to music from Earth before.]

This is human music, huh?

[More listening.]

I kind of like it.

I'm pretty good with items.

[Not a boast, just a statement of fact. He peers at the machine, ear twitching as he listens to the song. It's definitely different than anything he's heard before, especially Hylian music. That's usually strings and woodwinds, nothing synthetic like this. He can't quite figure out what instruments they're playing.]

It's weird. Is this the kind of thing people from Earth listen to?

A little strange, perhaps. There was a lot of the little disc things in the store. These were just the ones that the clerk mentioned as being 'romantic'. They had all sorts of different styles from the looks of it.

[She notices his apparent dislike of this one.]

Maybe one of the other discs will sound more to your liking? I mean this is for you just as much as it is for your matesprit. Let's try another one.

Okay, how about... this one?

[He pops in the one with the guitar on the front, an instrument he actually recognizes, and presses play again...

...only he hadn't taken the previous cd out first. The player makes a terrible grinding noise and then stops, popping open the lid. The little readout flashes "Er" over and over.]

...Um... whoops?

[Disciple slaps her hands over her ears, it did not help to have better then average hearing at times like this.]

I do not like this one as much. They call this music?!

I don't think that was music.

[Sheepishly, Sola pulls out the two cds, the bottom one now sporting some nasty scratches.]

I guess you have to take the other one out first before putting in a new one.

[Live and learn.]

Well, The clerk should have explained that better! How were we supposed to know?

It already turns one of those into music. [She gestures at the disc in his hand.] Why not two at the same time?

Well now that it is sorted out... shall we try the next?

Why don't we see if we can play this one first.

[Carefully Sola takes the scratched CD from the inside of the machine and puts the guitar one in solo. The music that results perks Sola's ears.]

Oh! I like this one!

[Slowly, and surely Disciple was becoming quite enamored with human music. It was a single instrument this time. Simple, and yet so complex. She was going to have to go back to the store later and get a music player for herself... and so many CD's.]

Oh... Yes. This one is also... Wow, yeah...

[Disciple, ladies and gentlemen! Master of the coherent sentence! She is here all week!]

It sounds kind of like Gerudo music.

[Sola closes his eyes and lets the music wash over him, thoughts turning to the desert stronghold he'd only seen once, but that somehow felt like home regardless.]

I'll use this one! Thanks Disciple! You're the best~

[CD player still in his lap, Sola leans over and hugs Disciple tightly.]

I uhhh... Oh!

[Sudden hug! After being surprised, initially, she hugs him back with a giggle.]

No problem! I am just glad I could help. Just make sure this picnic is extra special, okay?

Absolutely! Super ultra mega special!

[He leaps to his feet, clutching the cd player and discs like priceless treasure.]

Thanks again, but I have to go. I have a lot of things to prepare still!

[With an awkward wave of his elbow considering his hands are full, Sola heads off with a great big grin, sure the evening will go perfectly with this special touch.]

That is good. Have fun, now!

[She says the last with a wave. It was time she continued her own errands, after all. Which suddenly included obtaining a music player of her own...]
