[GV] - 6 - Festive

Golden Victory isn't about to go two months without a proper change in decor! Their fearless leader hasn't seemed to be in the best of spirits (falling into a coma can do that to a guy), so things aren't quite as extravagant as normal. Instead of playful, things seem a bit more ambient - warm golden lights, rich red tablecloths, holly, garland, maybe even a sprig of mistletoe here and there for the mischievous heart that may wander. And... well, it's a bit of a mystery how they managed to get it through the front door, but there's a well-lit tree taking up one corner of the main floor.

Per usual the rules and employee roster are posted near the door. It seems a bit quieter around here than usual.

The staff are free to their normal wardrobes this month... well, for the most part. Red, white, green and gold seem to be all over the place, encouraging to fit in with the Christmas spirit. There may even be some fur or a little more ~*sparkle*~ than the hosts might be used to. A certain emperor may have taken the liberty of making sure there's at least one spectacular outfit front and center for them to wear.

That's part of the point.

Alcohol tends to take away your inhibitions. For different people that will do different things. For me, I tend to become a lot more happier. I don't think I've ever lost control of my magic.

Not that I remember anyway.

I keep a number of small spells active; it is less a case of casting something new than one of altering something already cast...

Another to protect vision, another to prevent the lasting-harm from sun, although have not managed to prevent the temporary burn.

I realized how adept you were at casting spells during our time on the island, but I didn't realize how much you use them.

I was trained to use it in combat. I don't know that I would be able to create such useful continuous effects.

Living outdoors with .. genetic flaws that have creates a need for some small things, or I likely would not have been able to reach this age.

Combat and for the operation of.. a form of magi-tech. Perhaps a variance in magic systems.

So am I. I wouldn't be here either if it weren't for my ability to use magic.

Sometimes I wonder what life would have been like if I had chosen another path. A less violent one.

.... [ Sorry Malik, Duke isn't... that interested in the second half. His short thought of "what if I hadn't gotten into the knights" had brought him to the conclusion "he wouldn't have met Elucifur, because he wouldn't have gone outside the barrier on his own"... and even with all the pain that had followed that, he's not willing to give up his best friend. ]

You're right. What matters is the present. So here we are, a couple of old guys, casting spells and now drinking together.

Any serious bartender doesn't create drinks, they create art. They inspire and fill their patrons with emotion.

[He says all of this with a straight face, and then closes his eyes.]

Hope. What- no, just.

Duke shakes his head slowly, and its entirely due to how much he's drunk - and how little he's eaten recently that a slight laugh manages to get free. ]

The sound isn't quite mocking, but its not really amused either. Perhaps closer to scorn... ]
