[closed] weapon get

Who: Yukari and Mat
Where: The plaza
When: Backdated the morning after this.
Style: [brackets because we're cool cats]
Status: Closed

[The morning after she'd spoken to Mat, Yukari slept in as planned; though by the time 11am drew near, she was already dressed and ready to go. She's not particularly a fan of keeping people waiting-- and plus she's eager to see these bows of his, and to make her own, so she scurries to the Plaza, where she knew she'd have to wait.

She doesn't mind that, though. Luckily there are benches near the coral, so -- she's sitting comfortable with her SFC in her hand, staving off the wait by texting, as she usually does. Occasionally she'll look up to see if Mat's arrived, but . . . well, it's not like he's late.

Not yet.

[He doesn't like to keep people waiting, just like he doesn't like it when people keep him waiting. Unless he doesn't want to talk to the person he's keeping waiting. Then it's fine.

But that's not the case, so when Mat arrives a couple minutes late - according to the clock he'd found - and sees her there, he figures he'd better just apologize so they can get to work.
]

Sorry I'm late.

[Well, that's a relief. If it'd been almost any of the girls he knew waiting, they'd have been rather annoyed if not mad.]

You want to see the finished and in process bows first, right? We need to go back to the Winespring for that. Then we'll need to go to the forest to find the wood. [Yes, he knows where some is, but he hasn't cut it yet.]

/finally gets to almost November in P3FES

[personal profile] princeoftheravens 2012-12-10 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Yep. He nods.]

I thought I might. Come on, it's this way. [He points in the direction he just came from. The Winespring is in the same direction as the forest so this shouldn't take all that long.]

Yep! /goes off to play again

[He shrugs, walking.]

We named it after the inn in our hometown. We figured that if anyone showed up here and had been to the Two Rivers, they'd head for the Winespring and we could figure out what they know and if they were...safe.

[In other words, they named it that so they'd be bait if anyone who wanted to hurt them showed up. Or if someone else from their tiny little village in the corner of a kingdom that didn't know it was part of a kingdom showed up.

Just a bit farther!

I am! Not long now

[personal profile] princeoftheravens 2012-12-13 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[That's a relief. If she had asked, he wasn't sure he would have answered. "Safe" meaning they weren't insane or they didn't want to kill at least one of the three of them even if they had to kill others to do it doesn't sound like he has much confidence in the other people from his world after all.

But he smiles.
]

I wouldn't really know. No one else has showed up. And, well, not a lot's been familiar because of what's been happening in our world. Staying in one place this long feels a bit strange still.

[personal profile] princeoftheravens 2012-12-16 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's a nice thing and a not so nice one, no one showing up that is. It means he doesn't have to deal with them leaving, but it also means he hasn't seen any familiar faces apart from the two who left.]

You could say that. [They traveled all over the continent anyway - including into the Aiel Wastes. To think, that three farmboys from a tiny little village in the corner of a kingdom would turn out as they have. Kings, Lords, and whatever being the husband of the Seanchan Empress made you.

He's not sure he's happy or sad that they traveled anymore. Sure, what he remembered of the Two Rivers was sort of boring unless he did something, but if they'd never left Perrin's family might still be alive and Mat might have all his memories...He shakes his head. The Trollocs would have come to the Two Rivers if they were there. Tam and Mat's family are still alive because they left. Egwene's folks too. There isn't a point in thinking about what might have happened.
]

We traveled more than anyone else from the Two Rivers had in twenty two years.

[personal profile] princeoftheravens 2012-12-20 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Twenty two years is about how long he's been alive, and they didn't even really want to travel much at first.

And it probably says more about the town. Even though he can tell it's a bit of a joke, he still shrugs.
]

Dunno. We didn't really want to leave, but we did because of...reasons. [Like the darkspawn. No one really ever left the Two Rivers apart from them, except for when Perrin and Rand recruited them as soldiers and Asha'men...

Well, that's enough. He can see the Winespring now and points at it.
]

This is it. You can come in or wait, whichever you want.

I'm fine with it.

[He wouldn't have offered the option if he wasn't. He nods back and opens the door then.]

Go on in. [The first floor has a bar, plenty of tables, a raised dais for entertainment, a large kitchen, a smithy just through one of the doors, another door which just leads to an odd little room, and stairs down to a basement and up to the second floor. There are a few other doors leading off to smaller rooms, in case had they actually been able to do what they wanted and people had wanted to sit off in a quieter room and play tabletop games. The ceiling is rather high up too - about twelve feet (not Mat's feet, mind) high.

It seems far too large for just three people - and now just one - and this is only the first floor.

[They had been planning on using it as an actual inn during the day; letting people eat, drink, and be entertained (by music or juggling). But they never actually got around to it.]

Feel free to look around down here. I need to go upstairs. [And he'd really rather her not follow him.]

[personal profile] princeoftheravens 2012-12-31 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Ah, those...He really hasn't had a good game since before he even arrived here. They hadn't had all that much time for Stones since they were planning how to rescue Moiraine -- and getting mad at Elayne for being too flaming mule headed to see she wasn't invincible.

But that isn't the point. Carrying the finished one and both the ones that were started along with his ashandarei would've been too much, so he just brought down his and Perrin's. And the pole arm of course. Seeing where she's at, he has to ask. Out of curiosity if not any real desire to play the game right then.
]

Ever played Stones?

[personal profile] princeoftheravens 2013-01-02 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Mainly. I think we have other games in here too.

[But he likes Stones so that's what he asked about. And he offers the finished one - Perrin's - a huge bow, taller than Mat by several inches.]

This is Perrin's. Which is part of why it's so big. [Since Mat's the shortest of the three of them and Yukari is shorter than he is...It's a huge bow all the same.]

This is what it'd look like. Just shorter, so it'll be about a hand above your head.

[personal profile] princeoftheravens 2013-01-11 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
[He grins back.]

It's not heavy. But I don't know how accurate you'll be with one fitted for you. Apart from when I was learning, I can't remember missing with a longbow aside from when you found those targets.

[You kinda...learn not to miss when you're a woodsman. Arrows aren't exactly cheap or that easy to make. He might not be the best of the three, but he wasn't really inaccurate. Just didn't hit the center.

He hands it to her.
]

They're big and like I think I've said before, hard to draw if you haven't practiced with them for a long time.

[personal profile] princeoftheravens 2013-01-14 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
[Taking things as a challenge is always a better option than being discouraged.

He raises his eyebrows when he sees how far back she drew it. Since that one was Perrin's...she's actually doing a bit better than he thought she would.
]

Ready to go gather enough wood for yours then?
