Who: Yukari and Mat
Where: The plaza
When: Backdated the morning after this.
Style: [brackets because we're cool cats]
Status: Closed
[The morning after she'd spoken to Mat, Yukari slept in as planned; though by the time 11am drew near, she was already dressed and ready to go. She's not particularly a fan of keeping people waiting-- and plus she's eager to see these bows of his, and to make her own, so she scurries to the Plaza, where she knew she'd have to wait.
She doesn't mind that, though. Luckily there are benches near the coral, so -- she's sitting comfortable with her SFC in her hand, staving off the wait by texting, as she usually does. Occasionally she'll look up to see if Mat's arrived, but . . . well, it's not like he's late.
Not yet.]

But that's not the case, so when Mat arrives a couple minutes late - according to the clock he'd found - and sees her there, he figures he'd better just apologize so they can get to work.]
Sorry I'm late.
no subject
You're not, really. Don't worry about it.
[A couple minutes might make a difference in a professional setting, but between casual friends, Yukari hardly noticed. She finishes the text she's in the middle of and tucks the SFC back into her pocket; then looks back at him to give him her full attention.]
Where did you wanna do this again?
no subject
You want to see the finished and in process bows first, right? We need to go back to the Winespring for that. Then we'll need to go to the forest to find the wood. [Yes, he knows where some is, but he hasn't cut it yet.]
no subject
Sounds good to me, I guess. But you'll have to lead the way.
[Hmm, is the 'Winespring' where he lives?]
/finally gets to almost November in P3FES
I thought I might. Come on, it's this way. [He points in the direction he just came from. The Winespring is in the same direction as the forest so this shouldn't take all that long.]
Yaaaay! YOU'RE GETTING THERE
This should be fun.]
So why's it called the Winespring?
[Might as well make smalltalk in the meantime.]
Yep! /goes off to play again
We named it after the inn in our hometown. We figured that if anyone showed up here and had been to the Two Rivers, they'd head for the Winespring and we could figure out what they know and if they were...safe.
[In other words, they named it that so they'd be bait if anyone who wanted to hurt them showed up. Or if someone else from their tiny little village in the corner of a kingdom that didn't know it was part of a kingdom showed up.
Just a bit farther!]
I hope you enjoy ♥
Not a bad idea. I bet it makes it easier for them to get settled in, too.
[The familiar faces, familiar living space --
That helped Yukari.]
I am! Not long now
But he smiles.]
I wouldn't really know. No one else has showed up. And, well, not a lot's been familiar because of what's been happening in our world. Staying in one place this long feels a bit strange still.
no subject
That's a shame. But she can kind of relate, also: of all the SEES members who were ever brought here, only Junpei was left, and even the Inaba Persona users are gone, as far as she knows. Stupid Yosuke.]
Yeah, I know what you mean.
[Kind of. She knows what it's like to feel stuck in one place, anyway, in more ways than one; but then again, so does everyone in the city.
Heh . . .]
I guess you guys traveled a lot, then.
no subject
You could say that. [They traveled all over the continent anyway - including into the Aiel Wastes. To think, that three farmboys from a tiny little village in the corner of a kingdom would turn out as they have. Kings, Lords, and whatever being the husband of the Seanchan Empress made you.
He's not sure he's happy or sad that they traveled anymore. Sure, what he remembered of the Two Rivers was sort of boring unless he did something, but if they'd never left Perrin's family might still be alive and Mat might have all his memories...He shakes his head. The Trollocs would have come to the Two Rivers if they were there. Tam and Mat's family are still alive because they left. Egwene's folks too. There isn't a point in thinking about what might have happened.]
We traveled more than anyone else from the Two Rivers had in twenty two years.
no subject
So much for that.]
I wonder if that says more about you or them.
[A teasing grin.]
no subject
And it probably says more about the town. Even though he can tell it's a bit of a joke, he still shrugs.]
Dunno. We didn't really want to leave, but we did because of...reasons. [Like the darkspawn. No one really ever left the Two Rivers apart from them, except for when Perrin and Rand recruited them as soldiers and Asha'men...
Well, that's enough. He can see the Winespring now and points at it.]
This is it. You can come in or wait, whichever you want.
no subject
She won't really know what to think about it until she sees the inside, she supposes . . . and either way, what he said about the Two Rivers feels oddly final, as an end to their conversation. So she leaves it at that, and gives him a nod.]
I wouldn't mind coming with. Long as you're okay with it.
[To be honest, waiting outside would feel kind of awkward.]
no subject
[He wouldn't have offered the option if he wasn't. He nods back and opens the door then.]
Go on in. [The first floor has a bar, plenty of tables, a raised dais for entertainment, a large kitchen, a smithy just through one of the doors, another door which just leads to an odd little room, and stairs down to a basement and up to the second floor. There are a few other doors leading off to smaller rooms, in case had they actually been able to do what they wanted and people had wanted to sit off in a quieter room and play tabletop games. The ceiling is rather high up too - about twelve feet (not Mat's feet, mind) high.
It seems far too large for just three people - and now just one - and this is only the first floor.]
no subject
. . . Anyway, she walks in as instructed; and although she doesn't say much, her eyes are clearly observing.
There's just a quiet "Whoa" as she takes in everything. So many tables, and even a bar . . .]
no subject
Feel free to look around down here. I need to go upstairs. [And he'd really rather her not follow him.]
no subject
[Though it's unspoken, the implication is clear, so she makes no move to follow him when he leaves. As he permitted, she decides to give herself a bit of a tour: and it starts when she takes a closer look at all the tables, approaching the bar. Everything seems well-maintained, so it's not too much of a stretch to imagine that they actually did plan to use it as an inn someday -- and probably just got distracted from it.
It's still a nice enough place, though.
When Mat returns, she'll likely be glancing into one of the smaller rooms, used for tabletop gaming; though nothing is labeled, so it isn't immediately obvious.]
no subject
But that isn't the point. Carrying the finished one and both the ones that were started along with his ashandarei would've been too much, so he just brought down his and Perrin's. And the pole arm of course. Seeing where she's at, he has to ask. Out of curiosity if not any real desire to play the game right then.]
Ever played Stones?
no subject
Oh, he's back. Yukari turns around, and of course she glances the weapons he's brought down; but before they get to that, she'll of course answer him first.]
Not really. Is that what all this is for?
no subject
[But he likes Stones so that's what he asked about. And he offers the finished one - Perrin's - a huge bow, taller than Mat by several inches.]
This is Perrin's. Which is part of why it's so big. [Since Mat's the shortest of the three of them and Yukari is shorter than he is...It's a huge bow all the same.]
This is what it'd look like. Just shorter, so it'll be about a hand above your head.
no subject
Whoa, it does look big. [Heh, she grins a bit.] But it doesn't look too heavy, at least.
[She reaches out to see if Mat wouldn't mind parting with it for a moment while she checks it out.]
no subject
It's not heavy. But I don't know how accurate you'll be with one fitted for you. Apart from when I was learning, I can't remember missing with a longbow aside from when you found those targets.
[You kinda...learn not to miss when you're a woodsman. Arrows aren't exactly cheap or that easy to make. He might not be the best of the three, but he wasn't really inaccurate. Just didn't hit the center.
He hands it to her.]
They're big and like I think I've said before, hard to draw if you haven't practiced with them for a long time.
no subject
In fact, she'll even take his warning as a challenge.
After spending a few moments familiarizing herself with the feel of this particular bow, she attempts to draw back its string.
Struggling with it just a tad -- it's stubborn.
. . . Nngh.]
. . . Yeah. I'll work on it.
[She manages to draw it back, but not quite enough.]
no subject
He raises his eyebrows when he sees how far back she drew it. Since that one was Perrin's...she's actually doing a bit better than he thought she would.]
Ready to go gather enough wood for yours then?
