[ Cheria had been extremely busy since the morning, preparing everything they would need for their feast that night. She'd worked so hard on all of this, and it was really starting to become obvious in how tired she was ... it would be worth it, though, right?
When Cheria had heard of this holiday, she immediately knew she wanted to try and do something for it. She and her family had been through a lot in the past year or so, regardless of whether or not it was in Vatheon or in their own world, and she felt that it was only appropriate to celebrate and be thankful for everything they had.
Plus, there was always a good reason to get everybody at the dinner table, right? Cheria tried to stick to the ordinary Thanksgiving traditions she'd read about, food-wise, but she tried to incorporate something that every individual person in their little family liked into the meal as well.
There was a lot of food still in the process of being made. Cheria leaned against a nearby wall, sighing tiredly and wiping her forehead with her sleeve. It was getting there, but there was still quite a bit left to do. ]

There have been a lot of delicious smells coming from in here lately.

Cheria said it's for something called Thanksgiving. [ A glance to the Captain. ]
What is that?
no subject
I don't know the whole story, but I did do a little bit of looking into it. Basically, people spend a lot of time with their loved ones, and there's a feast. I saw some traditional thanksgiving feast items and thought I'd make some, and incorporate some favorites of our little family as well.
[ she smiles sheepishly. ]
Sorry, it was kind of a short-notice discovery ... I didn't have a lot of time to inform the masses.
no subject
But there's no bananas?
[Pascal, of course, has been at the periphery of the kitchen, occasionally disappearing when she otherwise might be asked to help.]
no subject
There's a knock on the door, Hubert coming over from his house (because he still hasn't moved back from there, no matter how much Cheria wants him to), carrying a grocery bag with random odds and ends that he offered to bring. Including bananas.]

It's another one of those holidays that seem to be from Earth. They seem to really like celebrating! Of course, this one seems to make a lot of sense. Halloween... was a little odd.
[Malik opens the door.]
Hubert! [He lays a solid hand on his shoulder.]
Glad you could make it. Come on in.
no subject
I managed to get the bread in time!
no subject
[Hubert enters with a nod just as Asbel comes through the back door, earning a bit of a raised eyebrow for his flustered appearance. It passes, but not before an amused smirk comes and goes.]
You look a bit frazzled, for just getting bread.
no subject
Asbel, are you okay? [ Why so frazzled not dad? She trots over take the bag of bread from him, or at least one of the bags. ]
no subject
Sheesh, who'd ya have to fight for the bread, Asbel?
no subject
[ Of course, she had managed to contact Hubert about this when she started making the food. And she was glad to see that he'd brought a few things for everyone, too.
AND THEN, ASBEL. She frowns, moving over to him and taking the bread from him gently, then reaching up and trying to pat his hair down a little bit. ]
Are you okay, Asbel?
no subject
[He sets his bags on the counter, still watching his brother. What sort of mess did he get himself in to just trying to get bread? It was a rather curious situation.]
no subject
These were so many of them and they all wanted the bread; these were the last three loafs. Even after I fought my way out of the store they still chased me for it.
[No serious injuries through, there was just a lot of shoving and grabbing involved.]
no subject
*Pascal pauses at that.*
Some kind of machine for making bread more efficiently could help with that...
no subject
no subject
Well if there's more bread, there's less fighting over the last loaf!
no subject
no subject
I wouldn't be surprised. Technology in this place seems to be really advanced in comparison to some of the things we have on Ephinea.
no subject
[Bread making machines exist??]
You're right Cheria. The strangest thing I've noticed is that there isn't any Cryas here in Vatheon.
So how does all that stuff even work?
no subject
The Amarcians had a few in our research annals, but none were nearly as efficient as cryas, so no one bothered with them.
no subject
As for what Vatheon runs on, I imagine it would be water. It seems the most logical choice, given where we are.
[Way to go, Asbel. You've got the two brains in the room going.]
no subject
[ cooking, cooking, yay. ]
no subject
[He laughs a little, remembering that night.]
Yeah, you were pretty hopeless in the dark, Cheria.
no subject
no subject
Excuse me?! I'd like to see you try to make dinner for everyone in total darkness, Asbel! It's not easy at all, I'll have you know! Augh!
[ She huffs, then turns back to the food, angrily continuing to prepare it. ]
Un-beliveable!
no subject
Nope. It definitely doesn't.
no subject
What else do we have besides bread?
no subject
no subject
It sounds delicious, Cheria. Do you need any further assistance?
no subject
Mmmm. That does sound good.
[He opens his eyes, back from his taste-bud fantasies.]
I think this beats that Halloween holiday.
Ack didn't get any notifs for this orz
[Why was she getting so upset anyway?]
That does sound tasty.
[He turned to face Malik.]
I dunno, Captain. Halloween was a holiday with all you could eat candy.
[He beams, but he didn't even eat that much.]
No worries!
Re: No worries!
The costumes were what made Halloween awesome, if you ask me!

I wasn't able to get anything together in time. Poo.
no subject
I certainly didn't.
no subject
[ She may have just called you a child in a roundabout way, Asbel. She loves you, really. ]
no subject
[He sidesteps Cheria's implication.]
One of the greatest heros of our time. Excellent choice.
