[Cielo had heard about the escaped animals, but he had decided he wasn't going to go looking for them as long as they weren't hurting anybody. And judging from the reactions he's seen, they seemed to be minor annoyances at worst.

He's cutting through the park on his way back to the Embryon base when he spots it. The tall four-legged creature grazing on the grass. At first, he was going to simply just walk by it when he notices its ears.

That...yes! That animal has the same ears he had during the animal curse! A llama! He had only just recently learned what llamas were and this was his first time seeing one. Of course, he can't resist the chance to see it up close. He pets its neck and tries talking to it. As normal llamas cannot speak, it does not reply.

Not verbally, anyway.

The llama lifts its head, takes one look at Cielo, and takes one of his braids of blue hair into its mouth and starts chewing on it.]

[Hmmm. She falls silent after that, because-- well, now she has to think.]

I don't really know what llamas eat.

[Grass . . . ? Do they graze? Maybe--]

But I know it's not hair.

It was eating grass when I first found it.

[It does seem like an herbivore to him. But hair is not plants!]

[No kidding. Cielo's hair doesn't even look like any plant she's ever seen-- though she supposes the llama could have simply been mistaken.]

Makes sense to me, but . . . what, was there not enough grass in the zoo or something?

[Don't mind her, she's kind of wondering aloud in your general direction.]

[But he hears her, so he will respond.]

Maybe it's always hungry.

[That it might need to eat a lot or constantly...

...this is a topic he doesn't really want to talk about.]

I guess.

[. . . Yeah, that is an awkward topic to bring up with the Embryon, though Yukari doesn't really think much of it. Animals being constantly hungry isn't strange to her, after all-- she dealt with that all the time, taking care of Koromaru.]

[And now the llama's nibbling at her shoes! Taking grazing a bit too far now, aren't we? :T]

[Wow! Rude, Mr. Llama! Cielo does his best to shoo him away. Leave them alone! Don't make him pull out the demon!]

[IT'S OKAY CIELO he seems to get the idea. He seems pretty nonchalant about the whole thing as he begins to shuffle away, and at the question, Yukari lifts her foot with a sigh, taking a step back. Looks like there was some grass under there he was trying to get to . . .

Jeez.]

Yeah, I think so.

. . . I wonder if it's really a good idea to leave them wandering around out here.

[The animals, that is.]

Should we bring it back to the petting zoo?

[Although he specifies "petting" Cielo actually doesn't know the difference between a petting zoo and a regular one.]

[She gives a sigh. Even if she wanted to, she's not sure how successful they would be at it. There are a lot of them, and they're not exactly the best listeners.

Well, not all of them.]

Maybe. But I wouldn't even know where to start.

Or maybe we can just leave it alone, ja?

As long as they mind their own business.

[She seems thoughtful, as she gives the llama one last look; and then she'll turn her attention elsewhere to see what other kind of animals may have escaped.

Luckily, since it's a petting zoo, there probably aren't any dangerous ones.]

. . . But I bet people'll try to take 'em home.

Then I hope they have better luck than us.

[And they escape with their hair and clothes untouched.]

Yeah. [Yukari laughs. And speaking of that--]

I guess I'd better go clean off my shoes in the meantime. Where are you headed today?

I was just heading back to the base. But I don't have to be back or anything.

[He's not on patrol, so Gale can't disapprove of him!]

Oh -- [She'll definitely take that to mean he's not ready to go home yet. Works for her!] Well, you could always come over.

Well, yeah! Duh.

[She laughs a bit. Because where else would she be talking about?]

I've seen where you live, so why not?

[Easy peasy. And she will do just that, although as they are on their way, she can't help but think to warn him--]

Um . . . there aren't really a whole lot of people living there anymore, though. Not like your base.

[And she will pokerface and pretend to be okay with this all day long.]

[In other words, Yukari has lost a lot of her friends. Cielo has too, even if he's been lucky enough that most of the people he's closest to have found their way to Vatheon.]

Then we won't be bothering anyone then, ja?

[. . . Awww, Cielo. Heh, she can't help but force a bit of a smile at that. Heh.]

Yeah, that's one way of looking at it, I guess.

[Oh well--]

At least we've got a game room.

[Game...room? Cielo can only assume it's a specific place to play games of some kind. Like a war room but with less Gale yammering nonstop and more fun.]

[Way to hit the nail on the head. Honestly, Yukari doesn't know if she could explain it any better than that.]

Pretty much exactly what it sounds like.

Yukari nods and does just that. It's not a terribly long walk, luckily, even if they do get distracted by animals now and again . . .

And pretty soon, before they know it, she finds herself pulling a key out of her pocket.]
