19th Combo - [Video/Action]
Who: Lloyd Irving and Vatheon
Where: Video/Yutopil Apartments
Style: [brackets]
Status: Open
[Today's the day, Lloyd's decided. He turns his SFC on.]
I guess things got a little crazy for a while there. I even missed my own birthday last month. It looks like everything's back to normal now, though.
[Or close enough.]
So...
It's not too late to throw a birthday party, is it? I mean, you only turn eighteen once. I'm going to have it at my place this evening, if anyone wants to come.
[Yes, his place. He'll be moving back out of the Ordo house where he'd been staying with his friends. He's feeling ready now, and there's no need to make a mess of their house when he's got a place of his own.]
I'm at the Yutopil Apartments, in room six.
[With that he turns his starfish off. He's got a party to get ready for. Hmm. After a moment, he turns it back on and dials for Link's and Angelo's SFCs.]
[Private to Link and Angelo.]
Hey, Link, did you still want to help? And Angelo? You don't have to, if you don't want to. Just thought I'd ask.
[One way or another, though, come this evening, the apartment will be decorated and there will be food and drinks. Nonalcoholic drinks, Angelo.]
[ooc: Feel free to respond with either SFC or action!]

[Oh oh wait he thought of another one!]
We could always play Ousama~ Some hunnies in Mizuho taught it to me! It's basically truth or dare but everyone's a number and you don't know who has each number, so you call out things like 'two has to sit in four's lap'. The numbers change every round so you can't keep targeting anyone on purpose.
[That'll totally be fun so long as no one's got a dirty mind. He can police that at Lloyd's party, he hopes.]
no subject
Yeah! Let's do that!
[Just remember, Zelos. Angelo's likely to be there. Better get ready to do some policing~]
Man, I'm glad I asked you for ideas. I can't wait to play these games!
no subject
[This is totally not an excuse to fish for information, nope.]
no subject
I dunno. However many people want to come. I know at least four people said they would. That's including you. Five if you include me, and maybe other people will too. Just make a bunch of blank sticks just in case. We can write the numbers on them later!
no subject
[Really not that weird of a question. Honestly he's not sure why he didn't just ask outright to begin with.]
no subject
Everyone. You already heard my invitation.
[He did make that first message completely public, after all.]
But you, Link, Angelo and Yukari all said they'd come.
no subject
[It does make sense that Lloyd would befriend most of the bubble though. He's an intensely likable person and for all his goofy 'I'll tell you my name if you tell me yours' ridiculousness, he tends to trust at the drop of a hat.
Which is pretty much why Zelos has decided to chaperon this little soiree.]
We'll have to make sure to have plenty of food, too.
no subject
[A pause, then his expression falters, just a little bit.]
Though... I don't think it's going to be that big after all. It's not... It wasn't my birthday, Zelos.
no subject
Wait, what? Oh, you mean Kratos told you the real date?
[Zelos figured a soon as he knew who Lloyd's real dad was that a more accurate birthday came along with it, but he shrugs as if it's no big deal.]
So we'll have two parties. One now and one on the day you were actually born. Twice the presents~
no subject
Isn't that kind of cheating, though? You're only supposed to get presents once.
[The smile disappears, replaced by something more thoughtful.]
But yeah, my real birthday's in April. April eleventh.
[And it's a weird feeling knowing that that's the real date.]
Heh. It's funny. I never thought I'd know when my birthday really was.
no subject
[Zelos isn't exactly sure if he's supposed to comfort his friend or celebrate finding that out or what. For once, Lloyd's expression is hard to read.]
Are you glad you found out?
no subject
[His expression shifts to surprised, half-curious, half-uncertain for a moment before he looks up, mind lost in thought. If it's hard for Zelos to read his expression, it's just as hard for Lloyd to pin down how he feels. Finally, he nods.]
Yeah, I am. I mean, I'm used to thinking of my birthday as being in September, but I always knew I didn't really know. Now I do. It's... Now I have the truth.
[He's not certain he's really expressing his thoughts there very well, but hopefully Zelos will understand. His friend knows what truth means to him.]
no subject
[And here it had passed without even a mention. It was kind of nice, to be honest, not having to jump from party to party and fill out endless piles of thank you notes for gifts he neither wanted nor needed.
He smiles some at Lloyd's mention of truth.]
Guess it's up to you what you wanna do with that truth, then.
no subject
[But now that the subject has come up, he pauses, thinking back. As much as he searches his memory, though, he can't bring the memory up. Has Zelos even ever told him...?]
When is your birthday anyway?
[Because, from the point of time he's from, he doesn't know that yet.]
I feel like I should pick just one, and that it should probably be the real one, but I'd feel bad if I just stopped doing anything for my other birthday, too. You're right. That's the birthday my Dad gave me - I mean, my Dad Dirk. That should mean something, too.
[He takes in a breath and lets it out.]
I wish I could talk to him.
no subject
[Though when Lloyd asks that question, he adopts a (very fake) wounded expression.]
You don't remember? I'm so hurt, Bud!
[...nahhh, he's not gonna keep that going. He relaxes into a chuckle.]
It was back a couple months, at the end of the summer. August 27th by the local calendar, but don't get all upset you missed it or anything! There was that weird curse that week where everyone got all nuts, so it's fine.
[Really, like he needs a reminder he's getting older.]
And hey, you'll see Dirk again when Zelda-hunny or someone figures out the coral, then he'll tell you I'm totally right and you should have two birthdays~
no subject
[Too late, Zelos. Even giving him an excuse for missing it, Lloyd still feels guilty now for missing his best friend's birthday.]
I guess that means I owe you a present.
[He smiles a little, though there's still a hint of something like homesickness in his eyes.]
Two birthdays would be twice as much fun. I miss my Dad, though, you know? Did you ever get to meet him, Zelos?
no subject
[The question about Dirk softens up his dismissive attitude.]
Yeah, a bit. He's a pretty down to earth guy, and I don't mean he's short. I kinda like him.
[Not to mention because he did right by Lloyd and then some. Unlike some father figures...]
no subject
I still want to get you something. It might just take me a while to think of what.
[Not to mention time to make it, if he decides to go that route.]
Heh, I know what you mean. I'm really glad he's one of my dads.
no subject
[Really he might just die of feelings overload if Lloyd tried to make him something.]
You're a lucky kid, Lloyd Irving!
[He gives a broad grin. If they'd been in the same room, he would have clapped his friend on the back jovially. It all hides a strange mix of jealousy and anger on his part, however. Lloyd gets two dads who actually care about him. Granted one of them is a huge jerk, but the Chosen can't help but wonder what would have happened if his own had been different.]
no subject
[Too late, Zelos, Lloyd's already got the idea in his head. You're getting a gift, one way or another.]
Yeah, you're right.
[And he's too clueless to see past that mask, to realize what Zelos is feeling deep down. To realize that even as Zelos is trying to cheer him up by reminding him about what he has, the redhead is have to face what he doesn't have, will never have, life's unfairness shoved in his face. Lloyd grins, oblivious.]
Thanks, Zelos. I think I needed that.
no subject
Hey, what are bros for, right? There's no way I can leave you down in the dumps.
[Lloyd would be getting a noogie if they were in the same room.]
no subject
I know, but I'm still glad. If you ever need it, I'll be there for you, too. I promise.
no subject
Hey, hey, what's with the serious attitude suddenly? You should be focusing on your party, right?
no subject
[He holds up something he picked up off the couch and...
Lloyd. Lloyd why. Why were your boxers on the couch?]
no subject
[He's only marginally better himself, leaving things around simply because he's used to having Sebastian pick up after him. He's gotten a bit better though, and no matter how ingrained it is that someone else will clean up his mess, he hasn't left his underwear laying around.
Which is good. Zelda would probably kill him.
There is one, small, question that niggles at him though.]
Why are those in the couch?
