[Hubert wasn't entirely convinced sparring was going to help him take his mind off everything, but it couldn't hurt really. He wasn't sure what would come of it either, but he wasn't about to turn down a perfectly good chance to keep his skills in peak condition.

So he waited on the island, wearily eying the mess that still remained from the Yami battle and the strange underground lab it had uncovered. It made him strangely uncomfortable, but damned if he couldn't figure out why.]

Now that I understand. Kinda. Keep it simple though. If Clank were here, I'm sure he'd want to know all the fine little points. Little guy is such a nerd.

My best friend. He isn't here in the city though. He's a robot.

Robots seem common in worlds that aren't my own. The closest we've ever come have been some battle tanks, and beings known as Humanoids.

Though Humanoids are from a different planet entirely.

Huh. Strange how almost every world has robots. The ones from my world are all metal and some look humanoid but others don't. They almost all have free will but some don't. Depends on the makers.

Humanoids are... complicated and far beyond my understanding. But then again, most of the technology on Fodra is.

... do you know Sophie at all?

Sophie. Hmmm. Wait. Purple haired girl who takes everything literally? I met her once. Cute kid. I had to teach her about boundaries and hugging people.

How's she doing?

Yes, well... ... she's doing fine, all things considered.

[Hubert clears his throat a bit. He'd been trying to forget the most recent Sophie post.]

She's a humanoid. A rare one known as Protos Heis. She was more or less made to be a weapon, but her sentience and free will are far beyond what most humanoids are capable of.

In fact when we first met her when I was a child, we thought her to just be a girl who had simply lost her memory.

Funny. Clank's kinda like that. Only he was made to safeguard the Great Clock. It basically keeps time for the entire universe. It's smack dab right in the middle, give or take fifty feet. It keeps time moving along. Without it, time would end and so would everything else.

... I would almost think that utterly ridiculous, if not for where we're standing now.

[Basically Vatheon = serious suspension of disbelief]

I know. Sounds like a fairy tale, but it's all true. I've been to the clock. That's where...I...

[Pauses and clears his throat.] Where I was before coming here.

A lot of things sound like a fairy tale, but even my own travels proved much of those things to be true.

[He notices the pause, but doesn't press on the issue.]

Yeah, that seems to happen on adventures. Anyway, what should we do now?

I wasn't expecting to cut it so short... but I also wasn't expecting to get blasted like that.

[Hubert lets out a sigh at that. Yup. Still frustrated.]

Well we could keep sparing if you want or maybe find something else to help ya.

I'm not sure sparring will really help. It seems my focus is utterly shot no matter how hard I try...

Then we just need to find you something that doesn't need focus.

[Hubert lets out a snort at that.]

I fear that may be impossible.

[At least he has enough humility to admit it?]

Nothing is impossible. I can think of a few things. Video games, drinking alcohol, and getting laid, for example.

[Don't mind Hubert coughing awkwardly over here.]

I don't do it to be 'manly.' I...just learned to think about it more casually while I've been here. That's all.

... just while you've been here? That seems a bit backwards.

Well...I was kind of a virgin when I got here. And a friend of mine taught me all about casual sex, as strange as that sounds.
