8th Unison Attack - Dogs

Colette's in the park playing with her dog, Caramel. She laughs as she runs with him, pretending that everything's fine for the moment. She's still worried about Kohaku and Shing - and Rin - but well...it's easier to pretend she's fine than to go around looking how she feels. That would mean some of her friends might get worried about her after all! It wasn't her turn to look after Kohaku, so she just decided to play with Caramel now instead of later.

She falls flat on her face, one of her feet having caught on a rock. Clumsy people running isn't exactly the best idea. "Ow..."

Caramel whines, running back toward her before nosing at and licking her face until she sits up.

Hey now Angel-hunny~ You alright?

[Zelos offers a hand down to Colette to help her to her feet. With all his deflecting and trying to keep himself busy he hasn't had much of a chance to see his fellow Chosen lately so while he was a little worried to see her falling on her face ~~yet again~~, he's quite happy to see her generally.]

[She smiles up at him and takes his hand, dusting off her dress after she gets up.]

Yep! [She hadn't really been busy with things she couldn't just put off, but still, she hadn't gone to see him recently. And it was nice to see him, especially with all that's been going on with her friends. Caramel had started wagging his tail harder when he saw Zelos. He recognized him! This was the guy who had been with Colette when she'd taken him home that first time! When he'd been small enough to fit in Colette's arms instead of his head being around as high as her knees when he's standing.

Caramel barks happily and circles them.]

Glad to hear it.

[What's this?]

Geeze, he's almost as big as you are!

[The redhead crouches down and scratches behind Caramel's ears. Well hi there pup! He remembers you too~]

[She pouts. She's not that small! Sure if he stretches out he's over half as tall as she is but... But then she laughs, watching Caramel and Zelos.]

I don't think he's that big yet! He's still going to be growing for a while longer. [And then he might be as big as she is when he stretches...

Caramel sticks his tongue out and pants happily, leaning into the ear scratches.]

Hmm, well, he's still grown a lot. You having any trouble controlling him? It's lucky you've got the crystal or he'd be walking you instead of the other way around!

[With one final good scratch, Zelos stands up fully again, shoving hands in his pockets leisurely.]

So how are you besides our little canine friend here?

[Caramel doesn't like this lack of ear scratches! But he decides to weave between their legs and around them instead of voicing his displeasure.

She shakes her head.]

Nope! And I don't think he would be; I could still run before I got it. [When she didn't trip. But that hasn't changed. She smiles. Rin had said he'd offered to help so...]

I'm doing fine, though I'm worried about Kohaku, Shing, and Rin. What about you?

[Though there's no reason for it, Kratos finds himself feeling a bit nervous when he sees Colette. It's probably because he's feeling nervous in general - he'd been on his way to deliver Amaterasu's finished portrait of Anna and Lloyd to Lloyd. It's safely tucked away for now. He should say hello, shouldn't he? It's been quite some time. Yes, that sounds like a good idea.

Chances are he won't be making it to Lloyd's apartment today. Maybe tomorrow.]

Are you alright, Colette?

[She blinks when he hears his voice, getting up and turning around to face him, brushing off her dress with a hand.]

I'm fine. [Caramel half-hides behind Colette, staring at him. He doesn't know this person, Colette, who is he? He barks and she looks at him.]

Oh! Right. Caramel, this is Kratos. Kratos, this is my dog, Caramel. [She won't mention that Zelos got him for her. That doesn't sound like it'd be a good idea. Caramel doesn't run toward him, but he does step out from behind Colette.]

Ah, me too actually. Well, not Shing, I dunno that guy, but Rin's wearing himself out over it and Kohaku seems to be in pretty bad shape. I'm supposed to go keep an eye on her and try to cheer her up later tonight.

[Damsel in distress? Yup, he's all over that. His worry about Rin is new though. Yup, Zelos cares about guys now apparently. At least a little, anyway.]

[She gives him a small smile, kneeling to pet Caramel.]

Rin told me that you were going to take turns with Mitsuhide and him to look after her. I convinced him to let more people help, so I'm going to look after her sometimes too. Even if it's you, eight hour shifts don't sound like a great idea.

[She's happy he's worried. It means he's making friends!]

If anything she might get bored staring at the same face for that long~. Seriously though, better to show her how many people care. Is it her beau disappearing or dying that's getting her down, though?

[Vital information if he's going to try and help. If it's dying, he can relate. If it's Shing going AWOL... that's a bit trickier.]

Can't say I know the whole situation that well.

[She frowns.]

I think it's both. When I went to see her after she came back, she was torn up, but...I think it's worse now. She wanted to go see him after...[She probably shouldn't tell him that Kohaku had cried on her for a while, and vomited, and that they'd promised not to pretend around each other. It seems a bit personal.] After she felt a little bit better. I think he was still there but... [Then he left a couple days later.]

[As Amaterasu would be able to tell it (and Noishe for that matter, though he is not exactly a dog), Kratos quite likes dogs. He offers something of a smile down to Caramel as he holds out his hand to allow it to be sniffed.]

You have a dog of your own here, then. That's good, you did always like dogs.

[Her insistence on naming each and every dog they came across was quite amusing, really.]

[Caramel is a bit cautious as he goes to sniff Kratos' hand, but then he barks and sits right in front of him. Pets?

She smiles, watching.]

Yep! [She would still name them here if the dogs she came across didn't have names.]

Well if he can't be there for her when she's that bad off he's not much use, is he.

[Zelos frowns. So maybe he's not being charitable to all men but really, with how lovey those two were on the network before, you'd think he'd stick around.]

[Pets? No dog, someone is watching! He can't just... well, he'll pet Caramel's head a little bit.]

Have you been well? There was an attack on the island not long ago. Were you safe?

[And rather quickly after saying that, he realizes that will cause her to worry for Raine.]

Do not worry about Raine, I made sure to move her so that she was not harmed while she slept.

[She shakes her head.] Shing...I think he took dying worse than she did. Well, I think he took her dying worse than she did. He kind of made me think that he thought it was his fault they died.

[Petting Caramel and resting her head sideways on his sounds like a good idea. He licks her arm.]

I think he went off to train, since he knows a lot of Kohaku's friends are good at fighting and won't let her be alone while he's gone.

[Caramel wags his tail, happy at the little pets. This person is kinda nice! She nods.]

I was actually down here for most of the fighting, so I've been fine. Were you?

[That's a relief but...] Did you move the Professor back up to the island? I don't think she'd like waking up in the bubble... [Meaning she might react the same way she did when she arrived: badly.]

[He had thought the same thing, but after an attack of that magnitude he wasn't comfortable moving her right away. After investigating the island, Kratos has deemed it to be unsafe.]

I'm afraid there's been damage to the island. It was evidently an artificial structure. It's not safe up there for the time being. She may be uncomfortable down here, but it will have to do.

[Don't tell anyone he's a softie Caramel, you'll ruin his image.]

[...So Kratos really does care. Good to know. Colette rubs the back of her head.]

I think you should explain that to her when she wakes up. She isn't just uncomfortable, not really.

[Meaning, she has a feeling that Raine will move back up to the island if she can as soon as she can after waking up. Regardless of what anyone says.

Caramel keeps wagging his tail. He won't tell. How could he, really? Apart from to other dogs.]

[He cares far more than most of the group would think, honestly. Kratos just has an odd way of showing it.]

I moved her to one of the temporary lodgings in the plaza and left a note. I do not think she would be comfortable staying with Mithos and me. I'm aware that she's afraid of the water, but if she is conscious, she can take care of herself.

[Suddenly, between this one and the other he tripped over, he's seeing a lot of dogs.

Then a girl falls on her face before him, inches from the tip of his boots and blocking his initial route. Walter is unresponsive, and very close to stepping around to ignore this silliness; but first, he has to take some time to stare.

Yellow, white, and blue. What about her eyes? He can't see them at this angle -- simply for curiosity's sake, given that he already has his reservations.]

[Well, Yukari's pretty excited to see Colette again. She's worried about Kohaku and Shing as well, and she recognizes that head of blonde hair, so as she passes by the park, she waves a hand, dashing over while trying not to look too eager.]

Cole--

[Oh.

...That looked painful. Looks like Caramel's got it though. She chuckles, watching the scene as she hovers over her.]

Be careful!

[...Kratos. At least he was right about that...If only he showed that he cared better. She doesn't think putting Raine somewhere where she will be sick or scared when she wakes up is a good idea, even though the island isn't that safe.]

I don't think Mithos would like her being there much either. I think might be right about her being able to take care of herself except...

[She's been in Raine's house. She was actually kinda surprised it was clean. Caramel looks between them and barks. They came out here to play, why aren't they playing?

She smiles at her dog, then up at Kratos.]

Do you want to play with him?

[If Kratos were better at showing his feelings, there wouldn't be any trouble between him and Lloyd. He adores the boy, after all.]

Play with him?

[He looks down at Caramel. He knows how to play with a dog, of course, it's just been years since he's done so. It's difficult to turn down a happily wagging tail. Kratos leans down to pick up a stick and throws it rather far away. There you go, Caramel.]
