Perhaps you notice the bushes near you are shaking. It is almost like the bushes have a mind of their own. After a moment, head pops out from one of the bushes. The head belongs to one Yachiru Kusajishi who seems to be searching for something. Looking rather displeased, she shakes her head to dislodge any leaves stuck in her hair before she climbs out of the bush and dusts off her clothes.

She moves on to the next bush and peers inside. After a moment, she hops into the bush to begin another search. After exiting the bush, she pulls out a twig and a flower from her hair. Peering at both items, she grins before dropping the twig and stuff the flower into her pocket. She dusts off her hands Looking rather determined, she goes on to search through the next bush, but not before lifting a rock the look underneath it.

[He's going to have nightmares about pink heads tonight.

Kurow bends backwards, his heart skipping a beat at the sudden emergence. He was expecting it, but not this, exactly. He spends a couple seconds being terrified out of his wits when he calms, noticing that the pink thing is, in fact, a human. oid.]

W-wait . . . a girl?

[She blinks at the scream and turns to face Kurow. Hey, why in the world was he screaming about, taking a quick peek at their surroundings since there was nothing around that was remotely scary]

I'm Yachiru. What are ya screaming about?

S . . . seriously?

[But that gets him to calm down to his more normal state, and he takes a deep mental breath. He's got this.]

I'm Kurow. What're you doing in that bush, anyway?

[Yachiru has a habit of popping out of nowhere. She doesn't quite get the whole 'jumping out of random places scare people' thing]

Hi Kuro-kun! I'm looking for my shoe! Someone took it. I've been looking everywhere, but I only found a ball and a yo-yo.

[This entire situation is just bizarre. So strange, that Kurow more or less forgets the earlier offense in favor of his curiosity being piqued again a different way.]

Why would somebody take your shoe? Maybe you just left it somewhere and forgot.

I dunno. They've been taking all my left shoes since yesterday. Nu-uh, I put my shoes next to the tree, but when I came back my left shoe was gone.

[She points to the tree where she had last seen both of her shoes]

[He follows her point to the tree, the stump of which his gaze lingers on before he turns back to Yachiru.]

Why would you put your shoes there and walk off without 'em?

Cuz, they're the only pair of shoes I have left. Plus, they're pretty and light up when you jump. I didn't want 'em to get dirty.

[Besides, when she wants to ruin shoes, Yachiru waits for storm and then jumps into the biggest and muddiest puddle]

But . . . the point of shoes is to get dirty so your feet can be clean. And light up?

[She nods and points to the single sneaker that is still on her foot]

Well, sometimes it's fun to run around without shoes like if you're going to jump into a really big puddle.

Uhuh! The shoes have lots of little pretty colored lights inside. I do this and the shoes light up! [Stamping her foot, the lights on the bottom of her sneakers flash different colors] See?

[He sees, indeed, and it intrigues him. He's never seen shoes do that before; there's got to be some intricate mechanism behind it.]

Hey, those are pretty neat. Maybe someone thought the same and took it for that reason . . .

If you can't find the other half of your pair, you should start carrying them with you when you go jumping. Then they won't get wet, and you'll still have them!

Well, they could've just went to that shoe place and got them. They have a lot of these kinds of shoes there.

[She had not thought of that. Then again, in her world no one would even think of stealing her stuff out of fear]

Oooh, that's a really good idea Kuro-kun! I had thought of that. You're really smart.

[A compliment! But this is a very basic suggestion, so he chooses to expand upon that -- convenience is the best route in this situation.]

Yeah? If you don't want to hold them, you can always get a bag or something to have handy. You might forget them if you just carry them around.

[She nods]

Yeah, if I have a bag, then I can't forget them and I'll can put other stuff in the bag like food or candy. I could even bring the toys that you can play outside.

You should totally head to a store and pick up a bag you like, then, or make one. It'll be worth the investment! If they even ask for tokens.

I'm not that good at making stuff. Unless, it's coloring. I'm good at coloring.

...Yeah, I can do all that stuff after finding it.

[Unless it's coloring the bag, he's not really sure how that would help her.]

Then your best bet would be to pick one up from the locals. In the meantime, I'll help you find your shoe!
