Shizuo was in a better mood than he had been since his encounter with Izaya. Talking things out with Zelda had helped quite a bit, even if Shizuo still wanted to do his best to avoid Izaya as much as possible. Not that he planned on hiding away - that would have been stupid. He had already spent too much time cooped up and thinking. Zelda had mentioned doing some research now that the fairies had met their end, and Shizuo had said he'd look around a little himself, though he wasn't exactly sure what to look for. It gave him a reason to go for a walk, though, and that was exactly how he was spending the evening. Walking around and smoking.

"I like sweets, too." Shizuo had always like them - even as a child. Growing up hadn't changed his taste much, and he was still fond of them now.

It was still a little odd, being reminded that Zelda had been a princess, that she had lived in a palace. "I bet you'd get the hang of it," he said encouragingly.

In the process of leaning over to regain his tea cup, Sola's knee brushed Zelda's skirt. It was hardly noticeable, didn't even make a sound, but the whole room came into sharp relief for Sola. He was sitting here. In Zelda's house. Drinking tea. Right next to her. He didn't even have to move anything but his arm to touch her if he so chose. He was close enough to realize she smelled like lilies and decided he really liked lilies and that maybe the room was entirely too warm and Izaya and Ion would really wonder where he was just look at the time!

He suddenly jumped to his feet, clutching the bottle and his voice came in a rush as it had when he'd first arrived. "Thank you for my name and my sword back and the bottle I'll make sure to bring you milk tomorrow but I really have to go now because-" A pause, his face turning as furiously red as a potion. "Because I have to good night!"

Sola probably could have outrun a truck at the speed with which he left the apartment.

Zelda stared after him. Well, at least he was sticking to their rules of interaction - one of them had to run off at the end every time, after all. It just wouldn't be right otherwise.

"Well. That was... ah... interesting."

Sola's rushed outburst made Shizuo tense, and he sat up straighter, ready to move in case he needed to. But Sola was gone almost as soon as he started talking. Shizuo made himself relax again, turning his attention to Zelda.

"Ah, yeah. He's...strange." He settled back onto the couch. "At least we cleared things up." More or less. They were all on friendly terms now, at least.

She nodded, turning her teacup. At least now she could ask him what she'd been wondering about when Sola showed up.

"Did you go to find him for me, or was it a coincidence?"

"It was a coincidence. I ran into him." Or, rather, Sola had literally bumped into Shizuo. "He told me that he wanted to come apologize, and I decided to come with him. Just in case." He took another sip of his tea.

"Thank you for coming. I'm not sure I would have been able to keep my composure if I'd been alone." She smiled brightly at him. "I know Sola isn't a cruel or evil person, but I can still feel Ganondorf's magic coming off of him."

She paused, then set her teacup down. "I'm glad you two didn't fight. If you carry the charm that I gave you, it might kill him if he were to attack you..."

Shizuo returned her smile. "I'm glad it helped." He was also glad that Zelda hadn't minded that he came along, just in case.

"Oh. I do have it on me." Shizuo took the charm seriously, and made sure to always have it on his person. "I'm glad I kept from fighting with him..." he said quietly. The thought that he could have done that much damage made him uncomfortable. Had he not controlled himself...he wouldn't have been able to forgive himself for causing a fatality.

"If it did happen, it would have been me that killed him, not you. That charm will unravel a spell of darkness if it threatens the one holding it, and Sola is a spell of darkness."

She looked at Shizuo carefully. "You didn't fight him, though. Good for you. You should focus on the thing that gave you control."

Even if it ultimately would have been the charm, Shizuo's lack of control would have played a large part. He looked down at his hands. Now, in retrospect, it seemed as though it was a close call.

Zelda's voice pulled him back into the present. He looked back up. "Yeah," he agreed, though his tone was tentative. That 'thing' that had given him control - it was his desire to improve himself so that he could eventually control himself enough to ignore Izaya. And he had managed to keep it together. It was a good first step. "Yeah," he repeated, but this time with more positivity in his tone. "You're right."

Picking up one of the cakes, Zelda studied it thoughtfully.

"There is much to do if we are to mobilize a defense in time. Did you know that this city was attacked by a kraken before? I hope that Minato of the defense force gets back to me soon..." She sighed heavily. "This would be much easier if there were some sort of leader for all of this."

"I heard about the attacks, but I didn't know what it was." A kraken. No wonder Celty had seemed shaken up when they discussed it. "At least people are coming together," he offered. Even if things were in disarray, there were people who wanted to help in any way they could.

"Yes. Coming together is a good step." She lowered her head slightly. It would be so much easier if this were Hyrule, if she could simply force everyone to take their places... but maybe it was better this way.

"I believe that I will be helping in the clinic," she said, grinning at him. "So do come in if something happens, hmm? I know you'll be alright on your own, but I will worry if you don't."

Shizuo returned Zelda's smile with a short nod. "I will. Don't worry. And I'll help out wherever I can, too." Not just keeping an eye out - if something did happen to attack, Shizuo would do what he could to help out the defense.

Zelda finished her tea and set the cup down, looking serious. "It's time to get back to work, then."

And so suddenly it was almost comical, she spread her work out in a dramatic fashion.

Shizuo watched with raised eyebrows. "Anything I can do to help?" Zelda seemed so serious, all of a sudden.

Oh, she was beyond serious. It was study time.

"Yes, actually. If you could get in touch with Minato Arisato of the defense force, I would greatly appreciate it. He hasn't responded to the congregation post as of yet."
