Investigation
Who: Zelda and ALL THE PEOPLE
Where: All over Vatheon, even on the island a bit
When: January 18-23rd, day and night (though not too late at night)
Style: Either
Status: Open!
Maybe you notice the princess staring too long at something, or maybe you notice the Sheikah scaling new heights to investigate those hard to reach places - but Zelda is definitely on the prowl for information now that the faeries are gone. She wisely avoids the ruins of the church, but nowhere else public seems to be beyond her interest. At least she doesn't break into people's houses like the other Hylian here in Vatheon.

Zelda was all smiles when she turned to Izaya. "Hello, Izaya. I'm taking a walk around the city. That curse was dreadful, I think I have a bit of cabin fever."
She wasn't adverse to telling him more, but she wouldn't reveal what she was doing that easily. She wanted to see if Izaya was doing something similar first.

"Yes, it was," he agreed after a moment. "It came at a very inconvenient time to say the least," he said with a heavy sigh before he looked back at Zelda out of the corner of his eye.
"So why are you exploring around Vatheon this late at night? Did the princess lose something?"
Suddenly, he's that much closer to Zelda and leaning in close to her personal space. "I'd imagine that Sheik would be a lot more efficient at this job than you? But then again..." he trailed off, waltzing around Zelda in a complete circle until he stopped next to her, still leaning down with a smirk now present on his face.
"It's very interesting that he doesn't live with you. I thought that he did? Odd that he doesn't appear on the residential registrar though," he said. Or rather it was more or less his registrar. He kept a close eye on where everyone lived. It was valuable information really. "Ah and I never knew you had such a cruel side to yourself, Zelda! The way you treat poor Link. Shame. He's no better than a child and yet you're so negative towards hm. Tsk, tsk. But I guess I shouldn't be too surprised since you find company with someone like Shizu-chan."
Yes, Zelda, he has been watching you closely.

The princess rested the hand that bore the mark of the Triforce on her hip. "You are correct. A Sheikah is far more efficient at searching for something than I would be. But it is not as if they can see every detail. Different people focus on different things. Sheik and I are both searching Vatheon today. As for why he doesn't appear on the registrar - how am I to know? If the loss of the faeries are any indication, there is trouble with Vatheon's administration currently."
Her eyes darkened as she continued. "As for the replica of Link - do you really think that's good for him, by the way, to refer to him with someone else's name? He needs his own - I did overreact the first couple times we met. He was created by my enemy. I am not infallible. It pleases me that he is being cared for, because I do not think I could do it. I am a little curious why you decided to do it, but I am grateful. Can we agree to not talk about it further? It isn't a topic I'm comfortable with."

"Say Zelda," he said, "Why are you kind to me? Do you want to understand me? Or something like that?" he asked, his voice seemingly sincerely curious. Not as much prying.
As for the mention of the handsome blond guardian, Izaya's smile remained still and gentle. "I miss Sheik. He's very handsome," he said, watching Zelda's face. "I'll have to keep my eye out for him," he said and looked away from Zelda as though he expected to see the man in question sweep by. Of course, he did not. "Is that the conclusion you've made? Ah...Link was very concerned with the death of his fairy. I hadn't seen him so upset before," Izaya said, recalling how his roommate had been so blatantly distressed.
"Someone else's name? My, Zelda, do you come from a world in which there is no one with the same name? My name is pretty unusual from my world but I'm still not the only one who's ever had it," Izaya said, his tone condescending as ever. "Besides, don't you think it's cruel to hold that against him when he was simply created in his current existence. He's just a child, Zelda. Mentally anyway. I'm helping him with that though. Ah? Why, Zelda, I've had such a horrible reputation that I've decided to be good. I want to redeem myself and I want people to actually like me. It's not really a charity case but I highly doubt that he'd judge me as others might. I selected my roommates very carefully. Ion is just as sweet and innocent. Okay, and he's also very easy on the eyes but that's okay, isn't it?"
He knew that he was rambling but that wasn't the most uncommon thing for Izaya. Either way, despite his claim to desire a reasonable reputation, his expression didn't change once. "Of course, Zelda. Most people are uncomfortable with admitting to their flaws. I understand. How has the princess been otherwise?"

"Besides, you are kind to me as well, are you not? It might be uncomfortable, but no one else is willing to point out when I am being silly." Zelda looked up at the dome quietly. She might still be afraid of Dark Link if not for Izaya's needling. True, she had no way of knowing if he had really intended to help her by doing that or not, but it had.
She smiled sheepishly, looking at him again. "It has been pointed out now, so I appreciate you letting it go. I have been nothing but bored. The curse extended to the network, so I had to stop even that after awhile. It is good to get out and speak with people again."
no subject
"I suppose so," he said and then grinned a little bit at that, "I think pointing out someone's flaws is important. And it's always really interesting to see how people deal with it. It's interesting that you handle it so well though," he admitted, always having enjoyed Zelda's reactions to everything. He had already conjured up who she was and so far, she always proved herself to be consistent. It was refreshing.
"Bored? Perhaps you should pick up a hobby," Izaya offered. "It is nice. I was almost going a little crazy myself. That was an embarrassing curse all around. Say Zelda, what kind of things do you like to do in your spare time? What does a princess do in her spare time anyway?" he asked, "Maybe we could do something together! I'm always pretty bored with myself."
no subject
"A ruler must be able to take criticism," she responded. If she let herself get angry at every little thing she'd be utterly useless! "It would be silly of me to take honest observations personally." Her face twisted into a rueful smile as she continued. "I honestly did not have spare time before coming to Vatheon, so I do not have many hobbies. I like to play instruments, but learning how was part of my duties. Other than that, I read books and observe people."
Saying it out loud like that, it almost made her wince.

And this is why he hated the topic of Shizuo. He couldn't shut up. He bit his tongue because he knew he had to stop that. Namie used to complain that he talked way too much about the blond and he knew that sometimes he could.
"That is a great point to make," Izaya said seriously. Zelda, for a woman, was actually quite admirable. That was certainly something coming from someone like Izaya. She didn't strike him as weak-willed. She had a powerful side and Izaya had seen enough hints of that to know. It was something worth his respect. "You'd be surprised at how many people do. Especially when it comes to the not-so-good parts of them," he said, recalling that one girl...Ah, what was her name again? It didn't matter. Not really.
"Observe people?" he asked, his mouth quirked up, "How interesting. I guess we share a similar hobby then. And might I ask what instruments you play? Maybe we could play sometime together~. I play the piano and harp myself. Though I don't have either of those yet...Ah say! Do you want to pick something up with me? A hobby I mean. Like um..." He tapped his chin. He had never really picked up a hobby with anyone before. Yet he wanted to get closer to Zelda. The time spent with her would be great for that really. "Do you know how to dance?"
no subject
"I play the harp as well! Also the organ, we had a massive one in the castle - by extension, the piano would be easy to pick up. I also play the flute and the ocarina, and a little guitar. Music is very important on my world." She was smiling brightly, looking her age for once.
"I'm afraid I only know ballroom dancing," she confessed. "I was not taught any other sort. It would be fun to learn something together though, wouldn't it?"
no subject
"Ah is that right? Same here. My mom always told me that it was pretty crucial to know how to dance. Said something about how it'd impress a girl one day. Granted that doesn't really apply to me, but! Whatever." He grinned all the more widely. He had never been fond of romantics or anything of the like.
"Yeah, it would be. We could learn how to bake. I've always wanted to learn how to make sweets and things. Granted I'm not really big on sweets but I have three brats living with me who probably are. Does that sound fun to you?" It's not that Izaya is desperate for attention- really it's not. He's just. Bored...

"I am interested in learning to cook now that I'm here. It is not something I had to do back home. Are there even classes for that sort of thing in Vatheon?" Zelda tilted her head to the side, looking at him curiously. Well, he would probably know if there were.
no subject
"I know somewhat how to cook pretty well. Ah I'd imagine not, what with you being a princess and all," he said and looked thoughtful for a moment. Baking classes? Did Vatheon have classes in anything? "I don't know," he admitted, "But I'm sure that there's probably someone in Vatheon who'd help us out, nn? Maybe we could ask around. Vatheon isn't exactly the type of city to embrace education of any sort. Outside of its library anyway."

She took a few steps away and rested her hand on a tree. Someone had been here recently, but it probably had nothing to do with current affairs. "No, they want to keep us in the dark and watch us scramble. Truthfully, I was out seeing if there was anything to find. I can't imagine they would just explode the fairies like that if the situation wasn't somehow... dire. People make mistakes when there's trouble." Zelda looked rueful. "Or that's the idea. There's been nothing as of yet."
