Coming to in an underwater city soaked to the bone after a little slip down in the mines was definitely something Kimblee wasn't expecting. Especially after he just recently stopped the bleeding from the cut clear across his right palm--he'd have to get that bandaged now that it started up again. Instead of doing the logical thing and use the SFC in his pocket to attempt to contact someone, he just stood up to and removed his scarf and coat to hang it over one of the branches of the massive glowing coral that sat a few feet away before he turned his attention to the city around him.

It was definitely something he never expected, let alone imagined.]}

Well, looks like I'm taking another detour on this job.

[Of all of the people to show up, why did it have to be Kimblee? Sighing quietly in resignation, Roy walks over toward the suited man. He was in his own casual clothing, and the mirror effect that he noted with their clothing.. and not to mention the location of their respective tattoos. He almost could believe the city had its own twisted sense of humor.]

...Kimblee. Welcome to Vatheon.

[A pause, and then a small gesture toward the bleeding hand.] What happened to your hand?

_{[Now wasn't this a surprise? To actually find someone he recognized as soon as he arrived--talk about luck. Well, sort of. Though now he had the name of the city, it still didn't answer how he ended up here.

At Roy's question, he turned his hand over with a light frown.]} Just a minor accident.

The north can be dangerous, you should be more careful.

[Now just excuse him for one minute while he crosses the plaza to snatch a couple towels from one of the store fronts for just this situation. One he presses into Kimblee's bloody hand to serve as a makeshift bandage, the other he holds onto for the moment until Kimblee's more ready for it.]

I arrived here around almost a month ago, there's no apparent way out of here I've learned. So we're both stuck here for the time being.

It's nowhere near as bad as frostbite, I assure you.

_{[He raises a brow at the action before he wraps the towel around his hand a bit. Sheesh Roy, worried much? It's just a papercut.

Is that so? That's a shame. I do have to wonder though... What happened to your hand? Is that from here or a similar accident?

Yes, frostbite can land one in the hospital I've heard.

[He glanced briefly at the back of his right hand. It was well on its way to healing, but it was somewhat rather obvious. Likely he'd always carry the scars from that little trick on the back of his hand.]

It happened just before I was brought here. I got into a rather tight situation you could say and needed the circle. [And obviously his usual gloves had gotten ruined beyond his ability to use them.]

I... see. You've heard about that, then.

It's a shame that nurses have a tendency to gossip in the hallway. I can only hope that word of mouth didn't stretch the truth too far. Seems like we'll both have some scarring, save for it being in different places.

[He decided to keep quiet about his own healing side injury for the time being, Kimblee didn't really need to know about it, so he wasn't about to discuss it.]

Yes, I have to say I'm rather impressed you made such a fast recovery from what sounded like a rather severe injury and frostbitten on top of it all. Makes one envious of your powers of recovery.

I never imagined you of all people would wear green. Red seems to suit you more--ah, but speaking of which, you wouldn't happen to know if there was a cleaner in this city by any chance?

[He'll shrug away that topic and take you up on the new one you've presented.]

I believe so yes. You won't have to worry about paying for it though, nearly everything here is given to us for free.

Is it? That's a little odd... _{[Something to think about too.]} Is housing included? Seeing as I'll be here for awhile I may as well find myself an apartment.

Yes, housing is included, food, clothing, pretty much everything really. If it costs something, they'll tell you it does. Though this place takes care of that too it'd seem. If you want, I have a spare bedroom you can stay in while you get used to the place.

[Best really to try and keep the man where he can watch him for the most part, considering the place is under water, he wouldn't want for Kimblee to get itchy palms should something within the city happen to offend the man.]

Well, aren't you generous? I can't say I know many people who would willingly take in a man with my history, but you'll hardly know I'm there. Thank you, Roy.

[He gave the other man a small nod.] You're welcome. Hawkeye's also living with me currently as well.

Our Hawkeye, correct? I had no idea she was here too. Is there anyone else I should be aware of, Roy?

It's just us three currently. Except.. [He looked down at the ground, hands twisting the towel they held between them.]

What? But that was seven years ago! That's impossible, unless--

_{[...Unless this city can do the impossible. It was already proven it could do that much by removing him from the Baschool mines and apparently trap people here against their wills for an undetermined amount of time, then there's a chance it could even disrupt the flow of time.

It shouldn't be possible, but it apparently is.]}

You'll have to tell me what else this city is capable of.

_{[He reaches for the towel to lightly tug it out of Roy's grip with a sigh.]}

And for goodness sake give me this before you hurt yourself.

[Roy surrendered the towel, he'd gotten it for the other man after all.]

It's apparently capable of cursing people. Turning people into things not human and giving them abilities they do not normally possess...for example. It seems to be a common thing to happen to judge from what I've heard about them. Fortunately neither I, nor Riza were affected by the one which has happened since we've been here.

Also it seems some people can and do randomly fall into a sleep so deep they can not be roused from it and you are forced to wait for them to awake from it themselves. Riza fell into one of those shortly after we arrived here and was sleeping for around two weeks straight before she woke up.

_{[Riza, hm? That's something he's never heard him say before save for when introducing her.]}

Don't leave me hanging here. Tell me more about these curses first.

[He got tired of the woman continuing to look for someone else every time he used the rank he was habitually used to using for her. Thus he's been working on breaking himself of using it while he's here, if only to make it easier on her.]

All I know is second hand, but they seemingly happen at random these days, the effects seem to last around a week and then reverse themselves or fade away, leaving everything back to the way it was before the curse hit.

What happens?

I don't know exactly what happens, it's varied it seems. It can be simple or complex, that's about as much as I've managed to actually gather about it. It's apparently treated as something which happens that can't be stopped or prevented, a fact of life of living here.

There is one other thing I've heard mentioned though... that those brought here act as a power source for this city...

[That bit still unnerves him really, even if he's not really showed it to anyone. It reminds him too much of that damned red stone really.]

Yes. Also, I don't know if you noticed it yet or not, but every person who's brought is marked by the city.
