Who's up for a pokemon battle?

Who: Bianca and Cheren
When: Afternoon
Where: The Plaza
Status: Closed
Style: Which ever goes?

After being stuck in Vatheon for 4 months, Bianca realized that her pokemon might be out of shape. Hoping for the best, she wanted to ask Hilda since she hasn't heard from her in a while. When she did so, she realized that both Hilda and Hilbert were gone. At first, she thought it would be better that they were sent home. Ever since she witnessed two 'deaths', she didn't want her friends to share the same fate. Still, a part of her was being selfish. She wanted them to stay so she wouldn't be alone. As she looked around, she noticed that Cheren was still here. She wanted to tell him that both went back home but figured that she'll tell him when they have their pokemon battle.

With that, she turned on the communicator. "Cheren? Are you there~?" She said in the happiest tone she can manage.

You see, unlike Bianca, Cheren regularly trains his Pokemon. Early in the mornings, every morning, he trains on his own, and a few times a week, he trains with Japan and his Shinx. Even in a place like Vatheon, after all, training your Pokemon is important. He had noticed the absence of Hilda and Hilbert, but well, he didn't really want to dwell on that at all. He might not know Hilbert that well, but both he and Hilda were two of his closest friends. Cheren being Cheren naturally means that he would much rather immerse himself in things he enjoyed doing and could do on his own instead of dealing with feelings.

Naturally, though, Cheren isn't about to ignore a call on his SFC... even if he was reading at the time. Putting his book aside (something about the 'normal animals' most people are familiar with, since learning about those could be helpful), he picks up his SFC and answers.

"Bianca? Yeah, did you need something? I haven't heard from you in a while."

"You haven't been training properly?" he asked, very, very surprised by this. He knows he shouldn't be, because Bianca is Bianca, no matter where she is, and she does things at her own pace. But in Cheren's opinion, training your Pokemon is one of the most important things you can do, especially in a place where you might need them, like Vatheon, if something bad were to happen.

"I don't mind, no, but are you sure your Pokemon will be up for it? When was the last time you went out and trained with them?"

He just sighs at that. Why isn't everyone organized and consistent with their training like he is? But again, this is something he should have expected from Bianca. He's even partially blaming himself for not calling and inviting her to come train with him, since maybe that would have helped.

"Honestly, Bianca, you should have taken more time to train your Pokemon during your time here thus far. Letting them sit around and not practice battling isn't very beneficial."

Don't worry, there's a longer lecture he could give, Bianca. Trust him.

"Either way, I don't see how it wouldn't be fair to people that aren't familiar with Pokemon to train them properly. From now on, you can come train with me in the mornings. For now, though, I'll meet you in the forest area--that's where I usually train, as it has the most open space, and the lowest risk of damaging something."

"You did want to battle now, didn't you? If you'd like to wait until morning, we can, but I was under the impression you'd rather battle today." Since, you know, she did go to the trouble of asking and all that. It would only make sense to battle sooner rather than later.

"Let's meet up there in around twenty minutes. How does that sound?"

He expects her to be late, really. In all the years he's known Bianca, he's never once known her to be early for anything, really. Which is why when she arrives down at the forest area, she'll find Cheren sitting beneath a tree and reading the same book he was reading previously (that she interrupted when she called), while his Pokemon wander around doing their own thing. Of course, he won't say how long he's been waiting, but with Bianca being Bianca, and Cheren being Mr. On-Time, chances are it was probably a little while, at the very least.

As Bianca approached, Cheren closed his book and placed it back in his bag. There would be no need for that while they were battling or training, after all. Getting to his feet, he doesn't bother walking over to where Bianca was coming from (unlike some of his Pokemon; Espeon and Luxio were far too interested in meeting people than they were in waiting around), since he knew she'd make her way over toward him and the training area in no time.

"Honestly, Bianca, you really ought to invest in a watch with some sort of alarm function. Or you could even set your SFC to have an alarm go off every so often, I'm sure!"

He just sighs in response again, because he knows Bianca. He knows how this will go--he'll say try better next time, and she'll agree, and he'll forgive her, and then it will repeat again. But there was no point in breaking that habit, especially when he really wasn't all that bothered by her being late. He only lectured her so that she'd improve for her own sake.

"Don't worry about it, Bianca. Just try harder next time. If you're planning on training with me in the mornings, I can send Unfezant to wake you up beforehand, if you'd like." Maybe a Pokemon would be able to get Bianca to be punctual. Unlikely, perhaps, but worth a try.

But when she pulled a Pokeball out of her bag, all other thoughts were put to the back of his mind, since, well, battling was what they were here for, right? Being distracted never worked out well in battle.

"Of course I'm ready. Let's go, Liepard!"

Cheren's Pokemon are quite the opposite from Bianca's. While a lazy day every so often are okay with them, they prefer to be up early in the morning, ready to train and do whatever else Cheren does. Read books? Who knows. So it probably will cause quite a scene when Unfezant goes to wake Bianca up, but well, Cheren will apologize for any damage caused. And then lecture Bianca. But that's beside the point.

"Liepard, dodge and hit it with a Night Slash attack!" Liepard does as instructed, but he doesn't get away completely unscathed. Grazed by Emboar's Flare Blitz, Liepard's Night Slash likely isn't as strong as it would be had he not been hit.

It's fine!

That time the Flare Blitz hit Liepard straight on, much to both Cheren and Liepard's dismay. Liepard did manage to hang on, but barely. If you were playing the game, its health bar would be at red, and it would be beeping obnoxiously. Unlike how things were back home, Cheren didn't have potions on hand to deal with this. So, rather than switch immediately (since who knows how much help Liepard would be later on while injured), he leaves the purple cat out for one last round.

"Liepard, hang in there! Shadow Claw, before he can counter it!"
