02 - and the Shadow shall lie across the Pattern of the Age

Who: Rand al'Thor and anyone who wants to bother him
Where: The plaza
When: Afternoon
Style: Action or prose, I can follow
Status: Open~

So Rand had planned on practicing drawing to help out Kratos, only to realize he had no supplies or anything like that.

And then to discover that okay, easels are heavier than he remembered. Or his side was acting up, either way, he needs to stop in the plaza or risk some bleeding problems.

But hey, the light is good enough, he can just. sit.. and work here!

So that's what Rand is doing. Being an one-handed artist. He's currently working on a group that looks rather like this. Only that top left man isn't in it, and its all just grays.

He stares at colors and grimaces. "These... I don't remember quite so well." He'll just get to work on group two, which doesn't have that man standing in the front. Why would he add himself to the picture?

(OOC: Lazy Samm is being lazy involving art.)

Mat had been out in the plaza for other reasons, shopping of his own as shown by that bag he's carrying. He didn't say anything, just sat down next to Rand with his head tilted so he could see what Rand is drawing.

So don't mind him partially choking when he recognizes people in that first picture. "The Forsaken? Really Rand?"

Ileyna...Ileyna... He blinks. "So Lews is an artist?" There isn't any other reason for the options to be those who were around in the bloody Age of Legends, right? Right.

Mat nods at that. "It makes sense. But do you really think that'd do much?"

"True. You never said if you practiced drawing in all that time we were separated though." It's possible that he had practiced enough to be good by now after all. Not all that likely, but possible. Mat wasn't good at tactics when he left the Two Rivers, and look at him now. Granted, that wasn't all from practice.

There's a pause and Mat turns to look at Rand. "Then...when you're done...Could you draw Tuon for me? If we're going to show them people to watch out for because they're dangerous, we should show them some who aren't bloody insane."

Mat snorts. That's an understatement, Rand. A big one. He nods. "Ashes are probably some kind of flaming mourning sign for the Seanchan. And that works. I don't remember what sort of things she wore when she was with the Band and me."

Rand, watching you draw with one hand and find everything with it is actually a relief.

Rand. That'll make him stop being uncomfortable around it, over a long enough period. Provided he doesn't throw things at Mat with saidin.

And it seems Rand's doing a good job, for Mat is starting to stare dreamily at the drawing, after a while. It annoyed him that Rand had seen Tuon more recently than Mat had, but that just means that he's able to draw her more accurately. Not that Mat can draw. Light, he misses her...

Right, Rand doesn't get as annoyed at Mat as most Aes Sedai seem to. Well, now he probably won't. If he still thought he must be as hard as whatever-it-was, it'd seem more likely.

While he's looking at the portrait, he figures he may as well say something. "It really was an accident that we got married. Their vows are saying the other is your husband or wife three times, and then the other has a year to say the same three times." He doesn't think he needs to say more about that, so he falls silent. Rand really had done a good job on drawing her.

Sorry, were you waiting for a response, Rand? Because Mat's just absorbed in the picture. Rand did do a really good job, for not seeing her without the ashes.

He absently nods at Rand talking about finding a frame.

Perrin hadn't really considered posting a warning, but he is in the area for a similar reason: wanting to keep an eye (or nose) out for anyone unwanted from their world.

Catching Rand's scent nearby, he wanders over to see what he's up to. For a moment, he just stands watching quietly. The subject of Rand's sketching doesn't surprise him so much as the quality.

"When did you pick that up?"

"Ah." One of those things Rand had acquired from his past self. He wonders which is stranger: suddenly remembering a skill you have never had, or feeling unused to it.

"You seem to be managing well enough."
