Who: Walter (à la Moon Tribe of Ōkami) and you
Where: Forest
When: Morning
Style: Either
Status: Open
[It's one thing to wake up in different clothes with a slightly altered appearance; it's another to realize that something is different. Rather, that something is gone, and his awakening this morning is a harsh one as he dashes off.
Walter power walks the whole way with a collected frown despite the awkwardness of moving on such elevated sandals, being unable to summon his teriques to carry him toward the south-east quadrant. But that's the least of his problems this second. Right now, and he's loathe to consider the possibility, the problem is . . .
Deep in the forest, Walter sits on his knees on the surface of the lake at the center, his hair and face dripping wet from submerging himself just prior. His brows are creased and he draws in deep breaths, though he isn't nearly as outraged so much as he is perplexed. The seeming ability to remain afloat means nothing when a certain emptiness continues to greet him. His fists clenched, he exclaims lowly through grit teeth,]
Why!?

The seeming ability to remain afloat means nothing when a certain emptiness continues to greet him. His fists clenched, he exclaims lowly through grit teeth,]
Why!?

...Who's in the lake. While wearing clothes.
Clearly Serph has to
make a social linktalk with this stranger! After all, he's learnt that what this guy is doing is very inappropriate. He needs to share that knowledge.]Aren't you supposed to take off your clothes when having a bath outdoors?
[Everyone got on his case when he took a dip in the hot spring with his clothes on, seriously. The tattoo that's usually on his face is missing, though; Serph's all human for this curse.]

Walter glances over his shoulder at the source. Upon seeing an unfamiliar face, he climbs onto his feet where it becomes clearer that he's actually on the water, not in it. The heels tap the surface, creating ripples with each step as he turns.
A pause, then he finally says in an even but flat tone,]
I'm not taking a bath.
whoops I'm good at reading comprehension
...That's pretty cool.
But he tilts his head questioningly. What is he doing, then?]
everybody is clearly jarred by the changes, all is cool
But that's far in the corner of Walter's mind as he stands there, staring. His patience is remarkably thinner today, so when Serph doesn't pose a verbal question he walks to the edge of the lake without a word, but with the intention of leaving.]
no subject
Are you afraid of entering the water?
[That's why someone would stand on the surface rather than go into it, right? That's why only his face is wet, right!?]
no subject
I wouldn't be here if I was.
[Whether he means the lake or the bubble as a whole is really interchangeable.]
no subject
Serph tilts his head.]
Why only wet your face?
[There are easier ways to wash your face :T ]
no subject
That's no business of yours.
no subject
Sorry for keeping you. Take care.
[Making a note to talk to you another time, Mr. Scared of Water :T]
no subject
With the way the water feels to him right now, he may as well be afraid of it. But it's not something he's going to recognize on a conscious level.]
SORRY I'M LATE BRO
A smile that slowly falls as he gets closer, sensing the confusion and general discomfort of the situation. Perplexed himself, he stays at the water's edge, a rare respect for personal boundaries combined with a fear of drowning keeping him at bay.] Woo...
IF YOU WEREN'T SO CUTE I'D HAVE DENIED YOU
He's never seen this boy before. White and red . . . That circular mark.
The earlier confusion is replaced with wariness as Walter straightens and shoots the boy a slight scowl. He has his suspicions, but he's not going to simply assume that they're right.]
Who are you?
no subject
Fortunately, the solution here comes easily enough. He pulls out his (thankfully unchanged) SFC, thinking Walter should recognize it via teaching experience. To help further, Chibi points to himself and simply states:] Wolf.
no subject
His attention snaps back to the boy when he hears the descriptor. The alteration is easy enough to swallow given the nature of Vatheon. Still, he finds himself more wary than he should be.]
I know what you are. You're still one.
[Not just because of the ears -- what someone is can never change, even if the outward appearance might.]

Confirmation is everything right now. He's already confirmed that he's lost the connection to the sea. The water.
But right now he's focusing on the pup, and he doesn't quite start marching toward him yet.]
Why are you here?
no subject
no subject
He has to take an additional moment to put two and two together -- but not for too long, as his overall knowledge of the worlds that Vatheon has tied together is rather meager in amount. With the pup, he recalls the five types of people. One of them was on the moon.]
. . . tell me about them.
[Or show him, whatever works. He needs to know. He needs to know why this specific change just had to happen.]
no subject
Their machines were... better, too, than on the land. Better than here. [And he gestures in a wide arc, indicating he means Vatheon.] Way better!
Most are... gone... now.
no subject
It's these growing differences that allow him to keep a straight face with pursed lips, until the last piece of information renews his interest. This time, he takes one, two steps forward.]
Gone?
no subject
no subject
It's history. You don't need to know why.

[And now he walks to the edge of the lake, though he moves diagonally to the boy's side rather than in front of him, and at a considerable distance at that.]
no subject
[Hi, look at how Chibi completely ignores personal boundaries like usual and toddles up along behind Walter.
... Much like a lost puppy.]
no subject
Don't follow me.
no subject
no subject
no subject
Can... I follow you later?
no subject
[It's a word he doesn't employ all too often, but given this opportunity and the boy's persistence . . . ]
no subject
I like you. [Seriously, what part of friendship do you not get?]
no subject
A wolf boy just professed his affections for him, and Walter is at a total loss for about two seconds. One, two. After that, he turns his back to the boy.]
. . . ridiculous.
[Walter is not blind to the things he does and says. He has given the wolf little reason to go beyond tolerating him, and this liking is something he would rather not have to deal with. With anyone.]
no subject
It's not!
no subject
[Tolerate.
Really, he's barely managing to tolerate the presence of every living soul in Vatheon.]
no subject
Walter isn't... a waste of time.
no subject
. . . That's not the point. [It's not about him.]
