[Hubert is waiting in the park with his weapon in hand, wating for anyone who had expressed an interest in sparring with him.

Come at him bros and brosises?]

IYAAAAAAAAAAAH!

[hear that scream? That's the only warning you get as Masaru comes hurtling at you, fist drawn]

[Well.

He hasn't heard that in a while.

~~Oh random encounters, so much fun.~~

Hubert wastes no time in breaking his staff apart, using one bladed in to block while the other clicks back in to a gun that he fires rapidly, glowing bullets of mana going right at Masaru.]

*Some minutes after his last spar concludes, a girl - she has to be younger than Hubert - moves to directly opposite Hubert. Calmly, she pulls a sash off her side.*

I am Rita Mordio of Aspio, one of the greatest mages of my world.

*And then, she raises her hands, a magic symbol appearing in front of her. Is it an opening attack, or a bluff? Hard to tell without her chanting anything... Yet.*

I'm ready. Make your move.

[Hubert gives her a once over, but it's surprisingly not a critical one. Given the women he's known in his life he really has no intention of underestimating some one like her just because she's younger and smaller.

He watches her movements closely, giving her an affirming nod.]

As you wish.

[He breaks apart his staff rapidly, clicking the blades back in to pistols. He waits a moment before raising them both and opening fire]

Scarlet Salvo!

*It's obvious that Rita is not entirely used to guns - as if aware they exist, but not used to someone able to fight at range so rapidly. The shots strike her easily, but she musters through it with surprising toughness.*

O flickering blaze, burn! FIREBALL!

*And... Well, quite a number of just that launch in Hubert's direction.*

[Hubert sees them coming, and attempts at first to shoot them out of the air]

Radial Arc!

[He shoots in exactly what the attack says - an arc going horizontal across. He manages to hit only two of them, but the rest are still coming full bore.

A click, and the blades are back, the staff back together. He holds it up in a block, taking the brunt of the fireballs. It's hot and he's not exactly equipped to be resistant to flames right now, but he manages to get out with little more than a bit of smoke and some singeing here and there.]

*As Hubert moves to block, Rita suddenly takes several steps in - and swings her sash directly at Hubert.*

*The inexplicable words Rita shouts match with the sash glowing with a painful-looking charge of energy.*

[It's not long after their conversation finishes that Gale shows up in the park. He doesn't seem to be carrying a weapon with him, but as always, he's wearing his gray armor.]

[That was a bit unexpected, and Hubert takes the hit harder than he thought he might. He doesn't go down, but there's a grunt of pain and he slides back a few feet, skidding to a stop.

He shakes it off quickly, though, and charges right back in, breaking apart his blades and spinning them around rapidly.]

Dualblade Dance!

[Hubert was waiting patiently, standing at a relaxed but ready stance beneath the shade of a tree.

He sees Gale approaching and lifts a hand in greeting.]

[And Gale nods to him in return, taking a ready stance a distance away.]

Shall we begin?

[Colette walks until she's in Hubert's line of sight.]

It's been a while since I've fought... [She takes a ready stance with her chakrams.]

Ready?

Yes.

[Hubert changes in to a more battle ready stance, his staff held out and waiting for the first move.]

[Chakrams? This is going to be interesting.

Hubert nods, making note to go a bit easier on her until he's absolutely positive she can handle it. Even if he can heal, he would rather it not come to that right away.]

Yes, whenever you are.

[There's a moment's pause, before Gale attacks. There's still no weapon in his hands- instead, what he does is leap forward, aiming a high kick at Hubert's head.]

*Rita quickly takes a backstep - but clearly underestimated the reach of Hubert's dualblades, taking multiple good hits.*

GAH!

*The last one knocks her back, and sends her to the floor.*

[Ky nods to Hubert politely, his hand staying away from his sword for the moment. He wouldn't just launch into attacking him, after all.]

If at any point it becomes too much or you'd like a break, please do ask for it.

[ 'sup, Hubey. ]

I'm not late, am I?

[ At least she's not lost and hungry TOTALLY TROLLING YOU this time? ]

[Hubert backs off after that, bringing his staff back together and approaching Rita with an amused smirk. He holds a hand out to her.]

I see what you mean about your skills lying in long range attacks.

[Hubert anticipated an unarmed attack, what with the lack of a weapon. As soon as the kick nears him, he throws his staff up to block it.]

[~~That moment when the muse is suddenly very glad Zhonecage isn't actually in his canon point.~~]

No, not at all, Miss Hearts.

[Hubert nods, thankful for the reprieve before their match starts.]

Of course, I'll do that.

*That bemused smirk and offering a hand to Rita? Probably not the best move on Hubert's part, if Rita's sudden surge of visible anger was enough of a warning before she jumped up and took a sharp, startlingly fast swing at him - easily enough that it'd knock him over if it hit cleanly.*

Don't pity me!

Good. It wouldn't do to injure yourself in something that has a goal of training.

[It would never do to injure oneself, but there are times it's unavoidable, or better than giving up.]
