Exorcism

Where: An empty part of the island, away from the abandoned village

[Finding a suitable containment vessel was up to Ky, but Zelda considered it her job to make sure that the demon did not escape during the exorcism process. As such, she's been up on the island since an ungodly hour, carefully digging containment runes into the ground. They glow softly when she's finished and she lets out a sigh of relief.

There. Now it's just time to wait for everyone else...]

[If there are no objections... Serph turns his attention to Gale and nods, a silent command to follow Zelda's instructions.

He doesn't miss the unsure looks being passed around, but while Serph isn't entirely certain this is the best thing to be doing, he keeps that firmly inside. Outside, he appears calm, but he's ready for a fight if it comes to that.]

[Gale might as well have not heard Zelda, until Serph nods at him. When he gets confirmation from his leader, though, he nods and reaches out to take the box from Zelda.]

[She releases the box to him and takes a few steps back, ready to defend herself and Ky if it goes horribly wrong. Serph and Cielo should be fine, even in this state Gale seems to have some regard for them.]

[Ky can defend himself, thank you very much Zelda. And he doesn't trust that the demon they're putting back won't decide on Serph and Cielo as enemies as well, so his shift in position is towards them, protective.]

[Cielo's never seen a person separated from their demon before and he has no idea what to expect with Vayu returning to Gale. He doesn't think he'll have to use any weapons; he trusts Gale to not attack them.

But he still has a Shock Bomb in one hand.]

[Serph, on the other hand, makes no defensive moves, even though he'd brought his pistol loaded with neutron shots. He was ready to respond if things go wrong, but he stays where he is, still and outwardly as calm and unflappable as ever.

But he watches both Gale and Vayu carefully, ready to give orders if a fight does break out.]

[And without paying attention to any of them, Gale takes the box and presses it to his shin where the Atma mark is usually located.

There is a moment where nothing happens- Then Gale's entire body goes stiff, as glowing green lines start to trace out along his skin from the place where the box is pressed. They spread further and further, until they cover his entire body, and then a strange glow surrounds him entirely. When it fades, Vayu is left in his place, mouth opened wide and teeth glinting.]

[Ky stares in horror as it starts to happen, but then quickly makes an effort to compose himself. He supposes he may still be able to address the demon now.]

We mean you no harm.

[bufudine]

[Gosh, Ky, it's almost like you've never seen Vayu before :T

Serph calmly watches Gale's transformation. While Vayu may look threatening, he's long grown used to the demon's appearance. Mouth open is a rather threatening look, but Vayu hasn't yet made any advances...]

Revert.

[If the return of Vayu is successful, Gale shouldn't need the instruction, but there's no harm in making it explicit. And it's easier to read a human than it is to read a demon; so much of demonic language is expressed in violence.]

[It takes a moment, but eventually, Vayu begins to shift back into Gale. The mark is back in place on his leg, solid and real, and it might even retain a faint glow- after the process of losing and regaining a demon, Gale will probably need to go hunting later, but that's not something that can be said in front of Ky and Zelda.

After his complete lack of expression before, it's obvious of the difference that having the demon makes. Gale is frowning, face pinched, emotions showing in eyes that are green once again. He takes a careful step forward.]

[That one moment feels like an eternity to Cielo as he watches Vayu return to Gale. Any number of things could happen. It might fail. Vayu could decide that he wants to eat everybody here. Gale's emotions might not return with the demon.

But everything goes smoothly and the Gale he loves (to pester) is back. That familiar frowny frown tells him so.]

Gale! You okay, bro?

[zelda_hylia]

[Zelda lets out a sigh of relief, shoulders slumping. She keeps the barrier around them in place just in case it's a trick, glancing over her shoulder at Ky. He can't be pleased with this outcome.]

[bufudine]

[Screw caution, fuck the police, Serph is so relieved Gale's back that he steps forward and sweeps Gale into a hug. Cielo can come, too.]

[He was going to wait until Gale said he was alright first, but okay! Cielo is not missing out on this hug.]

[Forget being stoic, Gale is going to participate fully in this hug. Now that he actually has his emotions back, he can feel horror at losing them in the first place, and relief at having them returned. His feelings right now are pretty complex, in fact, but it's still so much better than that nothingness.

It takes a moment before he responds to Cielo. The hug is kind of his priority.]

I am all right.

[Ky's far from pleased, indeed, although apart from looking rather deeply troubled he's keeping his thoughts with regard to this particular result to himself. There's a lot to think about, and part of him does wonder if perhaps he had a better idea of how to perform an exorcism he could have prevented whatever went wrong, to let the demon have the emotions.]

[Considering the fact that they're all in a lovely group hug now, the princess finally lowers her barrier.]

I am...

[She swallows and shakes her head quickly.]

I apologize. I should have known better. Light and darkness are two sides of the same coin, removing one of those entirely was bound to have negative effects.

[Ky shoots Zelda a disbelieving look as soon as she gets to the light and darkness part of her apology. Just because he's grown to know the gray area in between doesn't mean that pure darkness is suddenly acceptable.

He doesn't open his mouth because he's still feeling rather guilty -- it probably wouldn't have failed if he'd picked someone who was approaching demons from the right perspective, and he should have looked harder instead of accepting the experience she said she had. Singing... He should have knows that wouldn't do it right.

He also doesn't wish to interrupt the comfort that they're giving each other right now.]

[After Gale's reassurance, Serph breaks off the hug and steps back, turning to regard both Ky and Zelda. He shakes his head.]

Both of you offered help. We accepted.

[Things going wrong... it was a risk they'd been willing to take. Even if it's a bit disappointing the exorcism failed (as far as Serph's concerned), they've learnt a bit more about themselves. This hadn't been a waste of time.

Serph nods.]
