After the arrangements had been made for his meeting with Caden, Zexion had gone out to get supplies with which to make a meal large enough to feed two decently. That part was simple enough, as was the fixing of it. Keeping Bast out of the fish and shrimp however proved to be the most challenging part of the coming evening, especially since she was still small enough it seemed to manage to squirm out of his bedroom, via the crack between the bottom of the door and his floor.

Hopefully, Caden would be prompt in his arrival, else he might end up finding half of the food already claimed by the determined feline.

He saw that sniffing but said nothing of it, wariness over even food was to be expected really. He might have actually wondered at the possible implication of trust had it not been done. At least he's polite enough not to show his amusement at your situation. Though he's been in it himself a number of times previous.

"You've got a dog? What breed if I might ask?"

"You can ask, but I don't know. It wasn't mine at first." He took a test bite and decided it was okay. Hesitantly, he pet the cat too. After a few bites he paused and looked over at Zexion critically.

"I'd thought if I just kept far enough away from you all I wouldn't have to deal this anymore." Not that Zexion would care about that, he knew, but it was a grumble that made it past his filter. "Did you tell the rest of the Organization about me?"

"As much as people might like, no one can really escape their past." Man, did he know that too well by now. Moving to get a bit of the food onto his own plate, he began to cut into it while he answered the question Caden had asked him.

"I've had no reason to bother doing so, yet." Re: It serves no purpose to out your actual identity to them, so he'll hold onto that card until it becomes useless to him or he sees a point where it can be played to his benefit.

He appeared a little puzzled by that, but nodded. "Uh... thanks, I think."

He ate a few more bites. "But you do have a reason for bothering to ask me what happened at the castle - the parts I can still remember, anyway." He grimaced a little; he had no way of knowing if Zexion was involved in the process of making him think he'd been Riku or not. He could still be pretending and that worried Caden immensely. He had no way of knowing one way or the other - no power he'd gained could tell him that.

"Like I stated previous, sheer curiosity. As for why you personally, you're the one with least reason to bother lying about the events there, in my opinion, out of those here with personal knowledge of events there." The unknown is such a bitch isn't it? Fortunately, Zexion had no part in altering those memories of yours, and even currently has no knowledge of it even happening.

"The last event I recall from before arriving here is Axel killing Vexen. What I know is the mission against Sora failed, and everyone involved in that mission save Axel died, or so I've been told. So now you know how much I'm aware of, what can you tell me to help fill in the left over blanks? Do you know how everyone else save Axel died?" Of course there was a few things he'd left out of that pat summary, but the replica didn't need to know about his own plans or that he'd known the younger trio had definitely been up to something beyond their given mission.

"Sora killed Marluxia and Larxene, plus you know Axel escaped and killed Vexen beforehand. I don't know who else you'd care about." The order didn't much matter to Caden either and he wasn't entirely comfortable sharing the nitty gritty details when that would eventually lead to the question of Zexion's own death.

It was starting to bring back the question of something Sora had mentioned just after Vexen's death, in fact - that Vexen being gone should have changed things. Xehanort too had told him that he hadn't been directly responsible... did that mean...

"My turn for a question-" His face screwed up into one of deep thought; did he really want the answer after he'd tried putting all of this to rest? "What was Vexen's role in your mission?"

A bit of tact was called for in answering that particular question. Thus he decided to be just as vague in his reply as the boy had been to him so far. "Vexen assisted both me and also Marluxia, though the latter was more to gain intelligence on Marluxia's movements on the floors above us. Part of that assistance was his testing of Riku's strength and your creation."

He paused and after a moment posed another question of his own. "Do you know of how Lexaeus died by chance?"

Caden sincerely thought about that awhile before answering. "I don't think I do. Axel and I were alone, before that you... and before that Marluxia, Larxene, and Vexen - no, wait..." He tried to piece it together again, furrowing his brow. "Lexaeus must have died after Larxene did, but before Marluxia. Sora went straight from Larxene to Marluxia, though - and it wasn't me who killed Lexaeus."

A guilty conscience indeed, for needing to state that, standing before a man he did kill, strange as that truth was to consider. However, that did only leave one person, unless it was Axel again, and the other person was more likely.

"Before that is no memory of my own," he opened his eyes fully again, "as you know."
