[It is the strangest thing, to remember dying and then wake up as if nothing had happened. It left him strangely restless, and so he'd skipped out on Welcoming Committee duties, he'd drifted a little away from his social life for just a brief period of time--

He'd died in that strange place, that place that wasn't Vatheon.

But...he'd woken up alive, headphones around his neck and not pressed into Tiir's hands. Was something that vivid really just a dream? So he wandered, in search of something to expend his restless energy on.

And he's found himself at a ping pong table. At first he considers that lack of an opponent a problem, bouncing the ball on the table idly. But then he decides to play with the wall (it doesn't seem to bother him that he can't ever win that way).

So there is the click! click! click! of a ping pong ball being hit back and forth coming from an otherwise quiet building into the plaza. He might be getting a little into it.

Further inspection reveals a whiffed shot--don't get hit by the ball!]

[Nope, he doesn't mind at all!

...And a few moments later, he whiffs it and misses the ball and blinks. He's about to go looking for where it bounced off to when he spies her.]

Ah, Cxarma-san. Hello.

Hello, Minato-san. [She looks at the ball on the ground] Tell me, exactly what are you playing? I'm rather curious.

[...Oh! A nod, and he finally retrieves the ball.]

This is ping pong. It's a game where you try to hit the ball back and forth and not let it bounce twice on your side.

You win if it bounces more than once on the other person's side.

Would you like to try?

I don't see why not, it was always interesting to try new new things from new worlds. [With that, she looked around for a paddle]

[Oh! Yessss a new person to play with.

He finds the paddle on the other side of the court, offering it to her quickly.]

Here you go. Are you ready to give it a try?

Of course, I'm as ready as ever.

[She then looked at the ball. If her speed was as good as she thought it was, then this might be easy. If there was one thing Chitose hated, it was losing. However, she wasn't going to tell him that.]

[Minato is totally unprepared for this.

Because he plans to let her get used to the game first, so he just hits the ball gently so it bounces over to her side, prepared but probably underestimating her by accident--]

[As the ball hit her side, she quickly hits the ball right back at him as soon as it reached her side. There was no bounce when she made the hit and waited for Minato's response]

[...!!

He wasn't expecting her to hit it back so quickly, so he's a little off-guard; he rushes to hit the ball, a little bit more serious now.

The ball still bounces before he does though, hitting it lightly onto her side.]

[Don't think you're getting off that easily! As the ball hits on her side, she hits it right back at him although it was a little bit faster!]

[Oh snap.

He definitely wasn't expecting her to be so good at the game so quickly, and the ball bounces right past him.

A blink.

...!]

You're very good at this.

[...he's glad, actually. It's nice to play with someone who knows what they're doing, and he'll just go to retrieve the ball.]

[As she waits, she responds to his reply. The game wasn't as hard as she once thought but she does wonder if she was being a bit too hard on him. He didn't have the kind of training she did]

I think it was part of my training when I was younger. My specialty is speed, which is why I am able to play this.

[Well, he's curious. He certainly doesn't mind losing, and he has retrieved the ball, serving it once again.]

Your training...?

[Yeah, he plans to carry on this conversation if he can.]

[Well, this will be difficult. Keeping focus while keeping an eye on the ball. Before she can speak, she quickly hits it right back at him]

Yes, my specialty is speed so I am quite use to this kind of challenge.

Specialty in what?

[Ah--it does take quite a bit more focus, but his eyes narrow and he manages to hit the ball back.

And then he remembers his manners.]

If you don't mind me asking.

I'm sorry but I'm afraid that is a secret.

[She said to him before hitting back the ball. She couldn't give away all of her information now could she?]

[...oh. A secret.

He nods once, quickly moving to hit the ball back again, that taking all of his focus for the moment.]

...

Ah, I'm sorry for prying then.

It's not a problem, I'm just sorry that I cannot disclose such information.

[Whoops, almost missed that ball coming toward her end. Need to keep a sharper eye on it]

[Aaaand--he misses the next shot, distracted by her words as he is.

Oh.

He just shakes his head.]

Nothing to apologize for. I understand what it's like.

[To not be able to talk about what you are, not always. He just goes to retrieve the ball.]

Then I thank you. In the meantime, how have you been? It's been quite a while since our last talk.

[And she serve the ball right back at him...except that she almost missed it due to talking]

[He manages to hit it back, though he has to admit the conversation is very distracting.]

I've been-- [...dead.] well enough, I think. But it has been. What have you been up to?

[He is legitimately curious; he always wonders what his friends are up to when he can't see them himself.]

[She hits the ball once more but now? It's starting to feel like she's not sure if she can keep up with the conversation and pay attention]

I've...[had issues to deal with] been well also. I'm afraid that there hasn't been much, Vatheon is a rather quiet place at most.

[These two and their issues.

But this time it's Minato's turn to miss the ball, and he sighs a little, tilting his head.]

How about a break?

[It's hard to talk and play at the same time. But then he responds, nodding quietly.]

Yes, it really can be, can't it? But then those crazy things happen...

I don't see why not. I believe that a break would be good for me as well.

[She said as soon as the ball drops to the ground. Note to self, never play ping pong while talking.]

I must say, even though that Vatheon can be quiet, those who live here can be a bit...lively. [Like that boat party incident.] Although I don't think I have been here for that long to see anything that might be worth mentioning.

[He just nods at that.]

That's true. The people here are incredible, aren't they?

[He tucks his hands into his pockets, musing.]
