[It really was a pity that Shinichi wasn't home yet. But what a pleasant surprise it would be for him to come home and see that one of his colleagues was here in Vatheon!

While Hakuba was on his way, she did her best to make the house as hospitable as possible. After all, if she was going to extend the invitation for him to stay with them, she would want his first impression to be a welcoming one!

...now...he was from England, wasn't he? That means...Darjeeling? Ceylon? She'd need to brew some sort of black tea.

Or did he prefer coffee?]

[Hakuba found the coordinates that Ran had provided him with easily enough once he'd managed to gather his bearings in this new, strange place and stopped to check his appearance once more before knocking on the door.]

[After all, just because he's been dragged into this strange fishbowel world against his world was no excuse to look a mess at a social event.]

[Ran opened the door, her face lighting up. It really was him!]

Hakuba-kun! Long time no see! [She stepped back, kicking aside the two sets of shoes - one hers, the others the youngling detective's - and gestured inside.]

Please come in! The water's boiling. Are your clothes dried? I'm sure Shinichi wouldn't mind lending you some of his if you wanted to have those laundered.

[Hakuba smiles back at Ran and follows her inside.] It has been far too long, Mouri-san

That is kind of you to offer, Mouri-san, but I'll be fine. My clothes are mostly dry now. [Also, Shinichi's clothes wouldn't fit Hakuba...]

[Ran smiles, observing.] Ah, so they are! I hope it wasn't too uncomfortable...[Heading towards the kitchen, Hakuba will notice that while the house is modest in decor, it it well-sized and hospitable. There are a number of books on the coffee table in the living room, several of them fanned out and opened.]

Did you like anything in your tea? I was making Darjeeling...[Because...did Hakuba even like sencha?]

[Laughing softly] Believe me, after a year of chasing Kaitou Kid, wet clothes are remarkably easy to tolerate in comparison to some of the things that he's pulled.

Just a splash of milk if you have it, thank you Mouri-san. [Of course he likes sencha, he's only half English, after all.]

[At first, Ran gave a sympathetic frown, but it followed with an interested smile.]

You'll have to share your stories with us! I'm certain Shinichi would love to hear all about them.

[ Speak of the devil and he's sure to show. The front door open and the guy Ran thinks to be Shinichi slides through the door and loosens his tie before moving directly into the room he's turned into an agency and shutting the door behind him. ]

[ ...He may not have even noticed the company. ]

[Hakuba's never met Shinichi Kudo in person, of course, nor has he ever paid much mind to his front page articles once upon a time, so Shinichi's appearance is only a vague thing in his mind. It startles him, then, to see someone who looks so very much like Kaito walk casually into the house like he belongs there.]

Kuroba---no. No, Kudo Shinichi, isn't it? [How strange that they would look so similar...]

[Ran laughs lightly, walking back Hakuba to greet Shinichi at the doorway.] Shinichi! Look who's shown up! [She circles behind Shinichi and urges him further inside, not even giving him a chance to take a breather.]

You remember Hakuba-kun, right?

[ Kaito stops and blinks at Ran a moment trying to register those very terrifying and yet vital words. Of course, none of his true feelings on the situation show on his face as he turns to offer a small smile to the detective. ]

Ah, unfortunately, I don't believe we've ever had the fortune of meeting. [ He explained, stepping forward and offering a hand to shake to their guest ]
