Who: Rin, Kohaku, [Open to Shing and Beryl too]
Where: The Hearts-cast apartment
When: BACKDATE - After this fight
Style: Prose. All the feels, man.
Status: CLOSED
He was wheezing by the time he reached the familiar apartment he had spent so much time in during the past several months. Clutching his aching side, most of Rin's deeper wounds were in the last stages of mending, but that didn't mean he was out of the woods yet. And he knew he looked a horrible mess - shirt torn up, covered in blood, bruises on his face and arms - but he couldn't just hold off and hope that his own healing didn't cut out and add to his already decidedly bad day.
He knew he should contact Maka and Masaru, too, but he was wanting to cross that bridge a little later, when his head wasn't pounding and he didn't feel weak and sick to his stomach.
He finally made it to the door and raised his scratched, bruised hand to knock, pausing to look at it. An all too familiar sight, reminiscent of the days before he knew who and what he was.
Some things just never changed...
Finally he knocked as loud as he could, then promptly slumped against the door with a grunt, closing his eyes as he willed his head to stop spinning.
"'eyy... Kohaku... open up..."

Some things just never changed...
Finally he knocked as loud as he could, then promptly slumped against the door with a grunt, closing his eyes as he willed his head to stop spinning.
"'eyy... Kohaku... open up..."

"Coming!" Kohaku called toward the door, getting up from where she was, watching television on the couch, and moving toward the door. She opened it, and ...
"Rin?! What happened?!" She gasped, instantly rushing to take his arm and put it around her, supporting him as she tried to help him a little with moving into the apartment.
"Come on, inside. And start explaining! No, wait, don't, not yet, let's get you sitting down first ..."
Kohaku's mind was a frenzy. She knew Rin had a penchant for getting himself into trouble, but with how he looked now, this was way more than just the standard trouble. This was something to worry about. And she was worried.

A truck that was named Vanitas.
"Hng... sittin'... would be good..." he groaned as soon as Kohaku had his arm around her and was pulling him in to the apartment.
"Sorry to drop in on you like this..."
no subject
"Now, explain," she said as she closed her eyes and began to murmur healing spells under her breath.

As soon as the healing started, he felt better. He felt like a weight was lifting off of him, and even though he continued to feel dizzy sitting down gave him a better sense of balance.
"I was... goin' to the ice cream shop... buncha people came runnin' out. Kid named Roxas was gettin' attacked by some freak job in a mask..." he explained after letting out a sigh, resting his head on the back of the couch.

... But she hadn't heard the entire story yet, so she only nodded and continued healing him.
"Go on, I'm listening."

"There were some people stuck inside... I helped get 'em out, but the guy... he had these weird fuckin' creatures that kept comin' after me. Worse, when I had my sword out. And somethin' about him..."
He trailed off, reluctant to admit what he was thinking even to Kohaku.

Frowning, he cleared his throat, announcing his presence as he approached the two. "Something about him was what, Rin...?"
no subject
"What happened to you?"
no subject
"He got into a pretty nasty fight with a pretty nasty opponent," She said simply, though with what Rin was saying, his opponent seemed more than just nasty.
"Go on, Rin," she encouraged gently, continuing to feed him healing spells to aid in the recovery process.

Something had him shaken. It was in his eyes, just how worried he was. Even when his scowl was the usual expression he wore, there was so much about him that was screaming 'I don't know how to handle this.'
"... there was somethin' about him that... felt a lot like me... like we were the same..."
no subject
"... he's half-demon like you, then? Or... maybe closer to darkness...?"
If that made any sense at all.
no subject
"You sure you're not worrying too much?" she said walking a bit closer to get a better look at Rin's condition. "B-besides, Rin, you should focus on recovering first, then we can talk about that guy, whoever he was..."
But to injure Rin like this... that guy really might had been some kind of half-demon or... Beryl shook her head. Better not think about that.

"Let's get you healed up first, and then we can talk more about this guy. Unless, of course, you want to. If that's the case, then I know all of us are willing to listen."
Kohaku took a look at Rin's injuries once again; they were getting better, but they still could have used a little more care. With that in mind, she closed her eyes, murmuring another healing arte beneath her breath and letting the healing power flow into him. She was going to be tired after this, that was for sure ... but she didn't mind. Rin needed it.

"I'unno... part of me just wants to sleep and hope this all goes away or somethin'..." he answered after a while, voice unusually quiet coming from him. He was finally starting to feel better, but he was still tired. It showed on his face and in his posture, just how much it was weighing on him.
"Whatever... I'll be fine. If he comes around again I'll just have to kick his ass twice as hard..."
Some how, the threat didn't sound as dangerous as he wanted it to.
