Who: Ven and anyone!
Where: The park
When: Afternoon-ish?
Style: Whichever
Status: Open!
A good question, because there was a very short, very lanky blond boy asleep in the park. He lay sprawled out, limbs akimbo and mouth open while he snored none too silently. Years and years ago his friends would've called him a hopeless sleepyhead. Nothing had changed since then at all, except that his slumber was deeper than any he'd partaken of in the past. Not to mention dreamless. And he was shivering thanks to it still being a little too cool outside for a t-shirt.
Not very fun. So if anyone wanted to prank him while he was asleep, he wouldn't notice a thing.
Until he woke up, anyway. Luckily for anyone thinking of it, Ven was a heavy sleeper.

Really.
What. Was there just some kinda alternate universe where everyone slept on park benches and nobody thought there was anything weird or potentially dangerous about it? And everybody from there somehow wound up here? First with that...weird guy. And now this! Nack had had enough.
"Hey, Kid."
no subject
And yet. Huh? I'm not a kid! The one word that rang through hit a nerve, and awareness began to return back to him so that he could properly express his displeasure with it. A scowl settled upon his sleeping features, and he rolled toward the source of that voice. Then a single eye opened to stare at the other being with him with groggy defiance.
"M'not... a kid."
no subject
"Yeah, yeah. Listen," he said quietly, "I need ya' to do something for me. It won't take a second."
no subject
Ven was sleepy, and the derp was stronger in him than usual. He rubbed sleep from his eyes and squinted over at the... purple talking dude.
"What's that?"
no subject
"I've got to settle something. And to do that, I just need you to look around for me."
no subject
Ven rubbed his eyes a bit more, and then slowly regained his footing before tilting his head at the talking... erm, weasel? Considering the request, he shrugged his shoulders.
"What's up?"
no subject
"That's not important yet, just do what I say." he gestured widely, to the rest of the park, "Look around 'n tell me what you can see."
no subject
"I see a park. Grass. Trees. I don't need to be ordered to be aware of my surroundings."
That much was true enough. While a defiant teenager he may be, he could be quicker of mind and much more mature than anyone might think at first glance. It was insulting, after all the hard work he'd put into his training to be told by a stranger to be aware of his surroundings.
no subject
He scratched at his chin, "Now you're absolutely sure about all of that?"
no subject
Her eyes widened. As soon as she had caught sight of him, she was running. She fell to her knees beside him and placed a hand on his shoulder, trying to shake him. The last time she had seen him, he wasn't able to be awoken.
They were both here, though. She supposed anything was possible.
"Ven? Ven!"
It was worth a try.

Aqua? The light is unmistakeable. A single tear of relief and joy slides down his cheek from beneath his lashes. Everything is hazy: his thoughts, his memories--nevermind his senses. Only his feelings stand out in sharp relief against the fog that's penetrated his mind and heart. Relief. Gratitude. Worry. Joy. It's all there.
The feelings stir faintly in his heart at first, and then fill it until it's full to bursting. Images of himself and the boy and girl he knows by name and by their shared bond flash before his mind's eye. The chain of memories is coming back together, as Aqua leans over and tries to wake him up. And the touch on its own isn't enough to wake him. Her voice is what really gets his heart to stir him from his unconscious state and slowly blink open his tired eyes to squint up at her.
Everything is so bright! But not like the light of her heart, which he can feel there next to him. A hand reaches up blindly, searching for hers.
"Aqua?" He needs to ask, just to hear her voice again. His voice shakes a little.
"Sorry I overslept. Hasn't been too long, has it?"
no subject
He's okay. He's really okay.
It was the thought at the forefront of her mind, and it was a thought that continued to repeat over and over.
He's okay.
She took his hand in both of her own, holding onto it protectively. She shook her head, not even bothering to wipe away the tears that she knew were starting to roll down her cheeks. Relief, happiness ... the words themselves couldn't even begin to describe how she felt right now.
She had a feeling he could tell how happy she was, though. Their hearts were connected. The light of her heart would have been able to let him know.
She shook her head in response to his question. It really had been a long time, but it didn't seem to matter. All that mattered was that he was all right.
For the moment, anyway. Obviously, there were other issues to deal with ... but right now, Ven was what she needed to focus on.
"I'm just glad you're okay," she responded finally, that smile on her face never once leaving.
no subject
"Aqua... c'mon. Don't cry. I'm okay, and so are you. We're gonna be fine."
Sure, he could feel the happiness there. Which was why he was emphasizing the fact that they were okay. Not just him and not just her. Both of them. Now all that remained was to get out of here and find Terra, wherever he'd gone. Then they could go home and be a family again now that everything was over.
Ven grinned sunnily for her, and nodded. "So'm I. I was worried about you back there."
no subject
Aqua only hesitated for a moment before she wrapped her arms around him in return, holding him to her tightly and burying her face in his shoulder.
Ventus was right ... he was okay. She was okay. Both of them were just fine, and the two of them were going to find Terra and make certain that he was okay as well. The three of them would be together again, and there wasn't much in this, or in any world that could get in the way of that once they got going.
... never mind that they had been separated for what could have been years before this. At least, on her end. Mickey had told her it had been ten years since he had last seen her, and she knew Mickey wasn't one to lie about such things. That was an issue for another day, however. Right now, Aqua was content with the fact that Ventus was here.
She pulled away only a little after a while, lifting a hand to wipe some of the tears that had been making a trail down her cheek. Ven's smile only made the smile on her own face widen a little. He was just as she had always remembered him ... and she was glad for that.
"I was worried about you," she said, a small laugh creeping into her voice as she did so.
"And Terra ..."
Terra.
"... we should definitely see if he's here as well. For now, though, we should probably get you dried off. We don't need you catching a cold or anything."
Ahh, yes. Here comes mommy bear. She hasn't missed the fact that you're shivering, and she's none too pleased with that now that she's gotten over the immense shock of finding you here to begin with.
"We should be able to get you a towel and some dry clothes pretty easily, too. I've been told a few things about this place, and apparently, foreigners such as ourselves are provided with anything we need at no cost to us."
She figured she would have to fill Ven in on what she knew already of this world as they went along.
no subject
She's okay. Now we've just gotta find Terra and go home.
Being here and meeting new people was nice. Ordinarily he'd really enjoy it. But right now all he wanted most was to find their other best friend and drag him home to be a family again for awhile before they ventured out into the worlds again together. He breathed in deep, and then exhaled slowly.
Yeah. Quality family time was definitely in order.
Ven reached up to wipe away what was left of her tears, and smiled warmly at her. "I'm sorry, Aqua. I didn't mean to worry you." And he really hadn't. But he'd done it: he'd saved them both from being hurt by Vanitas. To him, what he'd risked and sacrificed had been more than worth it. Little did he know that they'd both ended up enduring a fate that was possibly much worse.
"We'll find him. Then we can go home to Master Eraqus and stay there for awhile."
Reassuringly, he reached for one of her hands and squeezed. He had no idea of what had befallen Eraqus, of course. Nobody had been able to tell him before shit had hit the fan. But even if they did now, he'd have faith that they'd find their master again. Ven leaned back and nodded, looking down at his damp jacket.
"I think I'll be okay, but I kinda want to get dried off anyhow."
Y halo thar mommy bear. He'd missed the constant fussing over him, if he was honest. So he indulged her by slowly standing up on wobbly legs, and waited for her to follow suit.
There was time enough to be briefed on everything that'd happened. For now, he just wanted to be fussed over by the girl who was very much his older sister in every way but blood.
sorry for the slow! ;w;
Right now, he needed the help ... and she was always more than happy to offer it.
"Let's take this slowly," she advised, wanting to make sure that he was going to make the trip safely, however short it may have been. She looked around for a suitable place to rest for the time being, and began to push Ventus gently in the direction of that place.
In her head, she was thinking of all of the things Ven would possibly need before they headed back to where she was staying for the time being: a towel, first and foremost. New clothing, at least a couple sets of it, was near the top of her list as well. She would have to get some more food, as well ... she wasn't sure how much of it she had, and she needed to be able to feed a teenage boy who hadn't eaten in about ten years. She was anticipating quite the appetite for this one ...
She would have rather had Ventus rest while she did some shopping, but something told her that he wouldn't take kindly to that idea. This time, she wasn't going to argue it. After all, she knew she wanted to spend as much time with him as she possibly could, now that they were together again.
no worries bb. /holds
To him, it had. But ten years had passed, and he was woefully out of shape. He'd need to work with her constantly to regain the muscle and skill he'd lost. But first, all he wanted to do was stand there and squeeze her hand. It was a comfort he felt she needed more than he did, as he'd never truly been alone as part of Sora's heart.
"Sure. I'm not going anywhere." It was to reassure her, because she looked as though she hadn't seen him in a long, long time. And there was no way he was going anyplace again without her. Or Terra. So he took her hand, and stumbled with her toward the place she'd deemed they could sit for a bit.
With his free hand, he rubbed the back of his head. "Aqua... how long's it been?" It was still hard-ish to see after so long of not being exposed to sunlight. His blue eyes were slitted, squinting over at her almost comically.
thank yoooou ~ ♥ /cuddles
Okay. Change of plans. Food first.
As Ven asked his question, Aqua was quiet for several moments; partly because she was focused on helping Ven with moving, but also partly because she wasn't entirely sure how to break the news to him. It was still pretty hard to believe, herself, though she knew she had no reason whatsoever to doubt Mickey's words.
"I saw Mickey here, when I first arrived," she started to explain. It wasn't a direct answer, but hey, she was getting there.
"He told me it had been ten years since he had last seen either of us."
no subject
Thankfully, by then they'd reached the café and he was able to sink down gratefully into one of the chairs.
Mickey was here. It made sense, since Queen Minnie was also in this place. For some reason, it increased his sense of relief. At least if they were stuck here, they were mostly all together. Now all they were missing were Terra, Master Eraqus and Mickey's two buddies.
Speaking o-- wait. WAIT WAIT WAIT. Ven's mouth dropped open at Aqua's next words, and he stammered for a few seconds before he could parrot: "Ten years?!" He rubbed his eyes, and shook his head.
"I had no idea I'd been asleep for that long. I'd thought..." He trailed off, and then picked back up again: "I wasn't sure if I'd even be able to wake up again after that fight."
And then, urgently, as he met her gaze: "Aqua... what happened while I was out? Were you and Terra okay? And how come none of us seem to have gotten older? This... this is so weird. I don't get it."
no subject
"I know, I had about the same reaction when I was told. I really wasn't able to tell how long it had been, to be honest ..."
She opened her eyes and looked to Ventus again, trying to figure out how to tell him all that had happened.
"... After you fell asleep, I wanted to bring you somewhere safe. As it turned out, you ended up showing me where you wanted to go ... home. To the Land of Departure. When we returned, it was in ruins, but Master Eraqus had shared something with me after I had become a Master."
She figured it was best to tell him the truth of what had happened. After all, where was the point in hiding it from him? There was no point in trying to protect him now. He was just as much a part of this as she and Terra had been.
"With his Keyblade," She continued, "I was able to make our home into an entirely new place. A safe place. One where you could rest, until the day when Terra and I would come to wake you up. I had been so sure that it was a day that wasn't far off ... I was so convinced of it ..."
She paused again, leaning forward and holding her head in her hands.
"I really wanted to help him. When I found Terra, though ... Maste--Xehanort had taken over his body. Terra was still in there, but it wasn't Terra at the forefront. I fought him, and I won. However, the darkness was still taking him ..."
Her fingers dug into her hair as she relayed the memory to Ven. Obviously this entire ordeal had upset her, no matter how strong she had been during, and after everything had happened.
"I followed him. And I sacrificed myself to the realms of darkness so that Terra could return. After that ... I don't know what happened to him. I'd been in that place ever since, trying to find my way back to the both of you ..."
She stopped there. Aqua figured Ventus would need some time to take that all in.

Terra... had been possessed by that creep, his former master. And Aqua, lost in the Darkness of all places. The boy reached forward in silence to grasp her hands tightly, to reassure them both once again that they were not alone. Had Ven been younger, he might have started to cry. But he had to grow up, and he hadn't shown his negative feelings to his best friends now for a long time. No point in starting now. This time, he had to be strong for Terra and Aqua. They'd done that for him for so long and now, it was the least he could do.
"We'll find him, Aqua. We're gonna get out of here, find him and go home."
There wasn't any less he'd settle for. He looked up, his smile a painful expression to bear.
"I'll get stronger and help you fix everything, too. I owe Master Eraqus, after how I talked to him the last time I was home."
It's to keep me imprisoned here, isn't it?! Ven tightened his grip on her hands.
He had a lot to make up for, he thought as he fought the yawning chasm of despair that was trying to gnaw at the edges of his heart. Terra... possessed. Aqua, lost. What's happened to us? I need to help. I want to sit under the same stars, all three of us again.
Eventually, he blinked, and turned his head away for awhile.

"E-excuse me!"
Fortunately (?), Ruca learnt on his own mistakes that it might be better to speak loudly when you are trying to wake someone up. Because normally he would speak as if he couldn't decide if he wants to wake the person up or not.
no subject
"Huh!? Wha--"
Yeah, uh. Who was this? Where was this?! Where were Terra, Aqua... or Vanitas?
"What's going on here?"
no subject
"Ah, I-I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to!"
But he did mean to wake the other up. He frowned, looking really worried.
"...Are you okay?"
no subject
All the confusion. Ven didn't know squat about this world or why he was here, or why everyone and their mom had taken it upon themselves to wake him up. (And draw eyes on him. He's looking at Riku for that one.) In any case... he smiled a bit and sat up on his haunches, only wobbling a little.
"Yeah, of course. What's your name?"
no subject
"This place is called Vatheon... I know it might sound weird, but we were brought here by a coral and can't leave this world."
Even after saying it so many times, Ruca still thought it was a strange thing to hear, especially when you wake up in an unknown place.
"Me? Um, I'm Ruca. It's... nice to meet you."
no subject
"We can leave," he started off slowly, very aware of the World Order and how it'd basically been shot to smithereens.
"And I've got a way to do it. But I don't know how everyone would survive the kind of darkness that's out there without protection."
He paused, and smiled. "I'm Ventus, but just call me Ven. S'nice to meet you."
no subject
"You do? But... "darkness"? What do you mean by that?"
He shook his head a little.
"Anyway there seems to be only one way to leave this world... This place sometimes sends people back home, but other than that we can't do anything to leave."
He nodded in acknowledgement when the other introduced himself.
no subject
Given that Aqua was still here and she was a Master, Ven didn't know if it would. Because she'd have been out of here and lout there looking for Terra right away otherwise.
Ven shook his head, and sighed. "There has to be a way."
And he'd keep looking until he found it.
no subject
He sighed a little.
"There might be... but finding it definitely won't be easy. Some people have been stuck here for months." Like him.
no subject
And he had faith that they'd find a way.
"Probably won't be. But it's no less worth trying to do."
He blinked, surprised, and fisted one of his hands. "I'll get you home."
Somehow.
no subject
"It definitely won't be easy..."
Ruca sighed and smiled a bit.
"...But thank you."
no subject
Nope, even though it was April Fools tomorrow, he couldn't bring himself to do it. Oh wait, Roxas didn't wear armor.
Ten minutes later, should Ven wake up and look in a mirror, he'd find that his face was now decorated. ...Though he felt bad about it, possibly leaving him out here in this madness. He knew that this kid was important to Aqua as well, and while it was fun to pull pranks sometimes, he couldn't well leave him like that. Riku knelt down again, having discarded of any and all evidence that would point to himself before placing a hand on Ven's shoulder and shaking lightly.
"Hey... Wake up."
no subject
Excitement and relief filled him, and he was scrambling up before his eyes had even opened.
"Terra?! You're okay!"
Yes... he'd utterly derped around and not registered the fact that it had not been Terra's voice that had called to him.
no subject
Instead he only blinked at the name. Terra, the one that he had a feeling belonged to someone he'd promised something important to a long time ago. With the few from that time passing and leaving through this world so many times, it felt like deja vu to hear it again, much like it had been that foggy night in November.
Aqua had muttered that name once before, too.
"Sorry. Not quite him." Though he wondered, just how was he connected if Aqua had seen... "I'm Riku. Guess you could say... he's an important friend of mine, though."
no subject
"You're... oh. Uh. Th--" Ven raised his hands to his eyes and rubbed the sleep clean out of them before he blinked them open to stare dubiously over at the stranger. That heart... gave off such a familiar presence. Riku himself was familiar. But how? And why?
"Oh. Well..." Confused and worried and disappointed as he was, he didn't let that show on his face for an instant. Instead, in a move Riku was likely very familiar with, he put on a bright grin and held out a hand.
"Then any friend of his is a friend of mine. I'm Ven."
no subject
Okay, he still wasn't about to comment on the "make up" job, either. That one he could wait for just a little longer. Instead, he merely shrugs a bit. Ven's presence was familiar, too- he'd know it anywhere. Though he wasn't exactly sure how, wasn't sure if he wanted to know. Okay, he was sure that he wanted to know. He kept his mouth shut, instead deciding to observe and wait. He'd want to see his supposed-to-have-been Master, as well.
Yet in a world that called so many to itself, letting others pass through while others stagnated, he doesn't know if he even has the right to say it.That grin... It was so much like Sora's.
"Riku," he replied, shaking hands with the not-quite-but-kind-of new acquaintance. It was painfully obvious that Ven had no recollection if being here once before. "Nice to meet you, Ven. I take it you just got here?"
no subject
The last thing he'd remembered was falling into darkness, and then being surrounded by a bright Light. And Sora. There'd been Sora, as he had before, ready to help him out.
And now there was Riku, who felt so such like Terra that in a way, it was comforting to simply stand there beside him. But this wasn't his best friend. This was Sora's. So he moved back a bit, rubbing at the back of his head in an unconscious gesture that might put the older teen to mind of his own best friend.
"Nice to meet you." He replied automatically, still grinning. "Yeah I did."
no subject
Just like before, there was a horrid case of deja vu. One he didn't fully understand even now. He sighed, crossing his arms in front of his chest in a manner that was probably a little too much like a certain best friend for comfort's sake. Yet he said nothing on it, only nodding at the automatic response.
"...Guess I can fill you in, but you may want to dry off, first." Riku turned to head toward where they'd find the closest stores and thus a towel or two, only to slow to a halt and quietly add one more sentence: "-and perhaps wash your face."
Happy Early April Fools~
action and sorry for the short, sob.

Your Majesty! [ He didn't know you were here, too. D: ]
How'd you get here? Have you been okay? How's Mi--I mean King Mickey?
no subject
Oh, I have been rather well. Vatheon certainly is more peaceful than home. The King is quite well. Why, he's here as well. It's nice having him out of trouble for once.
no subject
That's good to hear. But.. the same way? I don't even remember opening a portal.
[ Shaking his head as though it'll dispel the lingering confusion, he grins at her. ]
I'll bet! Have you guys been here awhile?
no subject
I do believe I have been here for almost two months, myself, the king less than that. It certainly hasn't been short of interesting though.
