Psii does most of the grocery shopping for Hive Holy Bro, but every now and then Signless likes to do it himself. He enjoys it even more when he's got a young friend to join him, which is what brings he and Gamzee to the supermarket this fine day. He's a much worse shopper than Psii, too; no lists here, only what looks good and appeals to him. Hence why his cart is full of baking supplies.

Signless gives her another quick squeeze before leaning back, his hands on her shoulders, and beaming at her. He's not a tall troll, so there's a good chance they're almost eye level.

"You are lovely. I only hope Lulu comes back and gets a chance to meet you. I know she'd adore you."

Kanaya raised an eyebrow, "Lulu? Would that be her name or a hypocorism? I assume you are referring to my ancestor."

Kanaya was certainly flattered by the complements, but not embarrassed. If anything she was curious. She hoped that she could learn more about her ancestor from the one person she was closest to.

Signless can't stop smiling. Not that he isn't normally a smiley, happy guy, but moreso than usual right now.

"That's just what I called her. When I was very small, I couldn't say 'lusus' properly, and it came out sounding like 'lulu.' The name just stuck."

Kanaya couldn't help but return that infectious smile. "Ahh. Well you claimed the pleasure was all yours in our meeting but I assure you that I am quite pleased at this opportunity to meet you. Karkat told me some things about you, and Nepeta filled me in quite a bit as well. As for the Dolorosa I am very interested in learning more about her. I'd hate to keep you from your errands though. Perhaps we could discuss her further sometime?"

Kanaya kept her focus on Signless, trying to not even think about Gamzee.

"Oh no, not at all! I'm almost done here, and I'd be delighted to take you out to grab a cup of tea somewhere and tell you anything you'd like to know!"

Signless suddenly remembers Gamzee, and turns to the unusually quiet indigoblood.

"I'll take both of you out. You're more than welcome to join us, Gamzee."

What is awkward? Signless doesn't know!

"I guess. I mean, if it is all bein' chill with you, sis." After all, if Kanaya is unhappy with what he did/will do/was doing/fuck time is fuckin' complicated, he isn't about to force his company upon her.

He still made her uneasy, but the Signless's presence was certainly helping. She knew it was unfair of her to hold so much resentment against this individual, he was not the one that did her any harm. She didn't say anything, and simply stared at him for a moment. Finally she made up her mind. Give the guy a chance. She nodded in affirmation, but didn't say anything. Maybe they could work out this problem a little bit. She didn't know the sufferer very well but between her short experience with him and the recommendations of her friends she hoped he would be able to make such a conversation much more bearable.

"Wonderful! Let's go!"

Give Signless a minute to stuff all his groceries in his sylladex, and he slides one arm through Kanaya's, like a proper gentletroll, and gestures to Gamzee with the other one.

"Shall we, then?"

Is that how it is like, huh Signless? Is Gamzee not like a pretty lady in need of gentletroll like behaviour to you? The world sees how it is now.

"Aight." Gamzee gives a little nod, falling in step with them, more than happy to follow Signless wherever he wants to go.

Even around Gamzee Kanaya couldn't help but let out a little giggle over the Signless's taking her arm like that. He followed his lead, having no clue herself where to go.

What, is Signless Mr. Fantastic, Gamzee? Can he reach his arm behind him and noodle it into yours? Once you're at his side, he'll take your arm too, gosh!

"There's a lovely tea shop not far from here, come along." Signless is just going to take charge now and guide them directly to the shop.

Well, Gamzee does consider Signless to be Mr. Amazing. He more than happily takes his arm, leaning into the shorter troll a little.

He nods faintly, letting Signless guide him along. "Sure, bro."

Once again the absurdity hits Kanaya. This Adult troll taking her by the arm, and doing the same for Gamzee, it's a bit much considering the way she built up and worried about her eventual first encounter with the indigo blood. She managed to restrict herself to a small giggle.

Signless is pretty sure he could listen to Kanaya's laugh forever; it sounds like the Dolorosa's, it sounds like home.

He escorts the two of them to a nearby shop, getting everyone settled in a booth.

"So, Kanaya... is there anything in particular you want to know about your ancestor?"

Kanaya sat in the booth trying to keep herself calm, and finding it surprisingly easy. This, too, she had been told to expect about the Signless.

"I suppose... anything. Everything. I've met some people who met her here in Vatheon, and I even got to see what she looked like thanks to this recent curse. I know she enjoyed the finer possibilities available to those who make their own clothing, and that she abandoned her duties in the breeding caverns to raise you."

"Yes, that's all true." Signless' eyes take on a misty, far-away look. "She was kind, and strong, and the best guardian I could have asked for. I think humans are on to something, you know, with how they raise their own young. I grew up knowing exactly who I was, and learned to speak at a young age because she was always talking to me. She taught me a great deal: compassion, and empathy, and appreciation for beauty, and strength, and determination, and the drive to see things through until the end."

Signless pauses, blinking, and then smiles. "Everything good that you see in me, is there because of her."

Kanaya listened attentively. Like most trolls she knew the theory behind the Ancestors, that their lives would be referenced by your own, but she had never put much stock in the idea. It seemed petty and superstitious, and yet here she was enamored with the little ways their lives reflected one another. She wanted to explore those reflections, and see just how far they went. If you knew the life of your ancestor, could you predict what would happen to you? If she was interested in fashion, was she also interested in gardening? In design? Did she also glow at night...?

"She chose to abandon her duties in the caves to raise you. That's a very unusual occurrence. Did she ever tell you why she chose that?"
