[If Trunks hadn't thought Vatheon was bizarre before, when the gossamer bubbles appeared floating near everyone's heads, he definitely did. Even stranger was when he tried hitting it with a small ki blast...nothing happened.

He's currently in the park, studiously ignoring it as he shadowboxes with himself, about fifteen feet in the air. Considering the speeds at which he can move, it seems there's a thought bubble floating by itself in midair half the time--it's given up entirely on following him.

The only thing running through it right now is a list of things to do later: laundry, grocery shopping, finish fixing the windows, interspersed with reflections on fighting technique.]

[It was a nice day out, and after gorging himself a bit, Vegeta had decided to take a nap in the park. He hadn't realized the nature of his own thought bubble just yet, but it's definitely working - it's reflecting his dreams.

At first glance, they're probably what Trunks expects to see. A lot of fighting, Vegeta standing victorious over piles of alien bodies... but if he doesn't wake his father up, they take a significantly darker turn.]

[He hadn't even realized Vegeta was in the park at first--not until his exercising takes him closer does he notice--the bubble fizzles, displaying the mental beration he's giving himself for not noticing, he can sense energy after all--before he stops, floating in midair some fifteen or twenty feet away.

...his sight is keen enough to make out the bubble, and he feels vaguely voyeuristic for it. He looks away, but he's curious--when he looks back, those dreams of his are getting worse.

And if he feels like it's wrong for him to see this, he can't imagine how Vegeta would feel to have other people see. He lands next to his father's shoulder, instead of reaching out to wake him physically, Trunks speaks.]

Hey. Vegeta, wake up.

[His eyes snap open as the image of Frieza looming over him fades. He looks up at Trunks with a scowl, the thought bubble becoming rather comical - an image of Trunks with an X drawn over his face.]

What do you want?

[Trunks snorts softly and just points at the bubble drifting lazily over Vegeta's head.]

I thought you might not want everyone to see that. They seem to be showing off what's going through our heads.

[His own bubble shifts, the new words saying 'I know I wouldn't.']

[That's... ridiculous. Vegeta looks at his own bubble, and sure enough, there's some text that says "pfft". He gapes at it, then tries to grab it. No matter how hard he squeezes, it doesn't disappear.]

What is this?!

[Trunks shrugs.]

There was one floating around me when I woke up this morning, I'd guess it was the same for you. They don't seem to be something we can destroy.

[Text: Yes, I have tried.]

[Helpless, Vegeta's bubble reads. He gets right in Trunks's face so that he can't see whatever comes next, gritting his teeth.]

...this must be another one of those idiotic curses. The last one made us both sick.

[He can't help it--Trunks steps backwards, he likes having his personal space, thought bubble or not.

A flash goes through the sphere of too-bright, soulless ice-blue eyes, inches from his own, mouth twisted in a mocking facsimile of a friendly smile. Too close, get away from me!]

Must be.

[He doesn't acknowledge it.]

[The prince's face draws into a blank expression. It might not be the same person, but he recognizes the sort of heartless smile not touching those blue eyes. Frieza smiled at him that way often, called him pet.]

[Aware that one such scenario had just played out for the boy to see, Vegeta turns and starts to walk away.]

[Ooh you frustrate him so.

Are you just going to walk away from me every time you want to avoid something?!

Trunks sighs.]

I didn't see anything. I'm not about to watch your thoughts.

[He turns in time to catch sight of that thought bubble and snorts.]

"Avoid something"? What am I avoiding, exactly? You might think that you're my child, but we're practically the same age - so even if it's true, I have no recollection of it or reason to tolerate your presence.

[It's not intolerable.]

[Calm down, Trunks. Just calm down.]

We're the same age because I'm from the future. Besides, you're not the only one...

[A brief scene plays in Trunks' thought bubble--one of the times he asked Gohan about what Vegeta was like. Viewed from the point of view of a much smaller Trunks, looking up at Gohan as the older half-Saiyan talked about Vegeta's strength and pride...

It cuts off savagely as Trunks forces the recollection down and out of his head.]

...the only one who doesn't recall.

[Trunks's discomfort is evident, and Vegeta has to push away images of his own father being dismissive (though they do show up briefly). As ridiculous as it is, he believes that Trunks might be his future son.

I don't know what to say. Should he comfort him? An image of Vegeta reaching out a hand to rest on the taller man's head - no, that's ridiculous. He should just keep walking.]

You should expect that if you do something stupid like time travel.

[His words almost never match what he's actually thinking.]

[Being dismissive was never the issue--Trunks simply couldn't remember Vegeta from his own childhood, since he'd died in battle when Trunks was only a year old.]

I didn't have a choice. Besides, half of it is this place's fault anyway.

[I only went back 20 years, you were on Earth then...]

...you have met a past version of me before?

[He's interested, and staring right at Trunks's thought bubble in the hopes that he won't be able to unthink whatever memory that brings to mind quickly enough]

[Blink.

What, you thought...]

...yes.

Hmm.

[If I asked him now, would he show me Frieza's death?

Vegeta has a one track mind. Poor boy.]

I suppose I didn't believe you then, either.

[Trunks' eyes track to the bubble floating around Vegeta's head, despite his efforts not to pay attention to it. Should I...]

I didn't say anything then.

[I kind of wanted to exist.]

[He just folds his arms uncomfortably. Vegeta sees the "should I", and he wants to encourage it. He should play nice for now.]

The idea that I slept with a human is offensive, but I wouldn't kill you for it.

[...wow, really? That's him being NICE?]

[Facepalm.]

I meant that you knowing might interfere, and I would never exist in the first place.

[Vegeta actually grins at that.]

Do you think that time is so fragile? You most likely just created a second reality by going back. It wouldn't change a thing.

[A brief image of a book in Vatheon's library appears. Vegeta's been reading up, trying to make sure he's not going to be screwed over when he gets returned home.]

I did. But I wasn't going to take any chances.

[He imagines fading out of existence due to a temporal paradox would kind of suck.]

[Don't mind Vegeta, he's just briefly fantasizing about traveling back in time and killing Frieza and then just... staying in that time and abandoning his own forever, becoming the proper king of the Saiyans.]

...did you mean what you said?

[The most specific!]

[There's so many things that could go wrong with that scenario Trunks doesn't even...]

...what?

[BE A LITTLE MORE SPECIFIC PLEASE.]

[Just the dude that Izaya was looking for. Although not really- at least not that Izaya knows yet.

Really, he didn't even plan on scoping this guy out. He planned on walking right on through the park, running some daily errands, when- ....Well. Way to make yourself obvious, dude. Izaya's just going to stop and look all the way up at Trunks, a look of speculation on his face.]

Hiya. [So friendly. Look at that smile.] See you're infected~ as well?

[His own bubble is bouncing behind him but has an odd black static happening in it instead of anything viable. Occasional flashes of people but that's about it. Nothing worth registering.]
