Nepeta laughs and wiggles her fingers in Kanaya's grip. "Heehee, yes, it is! Though I nefur really paid much attention to it before now, it's just sort of there and useful for getting lots of tea and sugar and cake." Because what is a healthy diet...

Kanaya gives the hand a little squeeze before letting it go, launching into another line of inquiry. "I understand that this system allows us free goods, but what about businesses or workspaces? If I'm going to be here for a while I think I would like to get some fabrics and start sewing again. It's been a while."

"Oooh, you think you might want to set up your own business? That sounds pawesome! I don't really know what you'd have to do to make that happen but we could certainly fur sure find out fur you!" Nepeta was bouncing in excitement at the thought of helping out - she wasn't one for fashion but anything that made a friend happy was something she was all for.

"Well, I'm not sure about an actual business... I would like somewhere to set up as a studio. I need some place to do my work, and while I had a dedicated block in my hive for that purpose it tended to get a bit messy and overflow into the rest of the place. Fabrics and dressforms were all over my respiteblock. I like to keep things tidy in my living space but I tend to be a bit chaotic with my work area. Now that we're all here and we have some time, maybe I can finally try and get you into something a bit more fashionable!" Kanaya winked at the oliveblood. It would be nice to try and get her into something other than that jacket and hat. Not that her normal outfit is particularly terrible... OK, the hat is just awful with her green complexion and that jacket. Really, it can't be excused. Nepeta isn't the biggest offence against fashion that Kanaya has met, but she has certainly gotten a space on her List.

"Well, the hives here are pretty big! Me and Tavros share a place with all our stuff easily, and Equius and Gamzee share another one with Darkleer and they've got their workshops there and everything, and you know Gamzee makes a bit of a mess, so I think that if we get you an extra big hive it could work! Unless you want to get a separate purrlace to make sure the mess doesn't spill over?"

She tilted her head to the side, considering this. She wasn't sure if one person would have allowed two places, but they could try. And then she heard what Kanaya was asking her. "Nooooo, I like my clothes! They're comfortable and good for hunting and playing in!" That wink was answered with a great big pouty face. Her kittyhood was blue on purpose! She wore it because it was Equius' colour! She was thinking of getting something in brown for Tavros too in fact.

Kanaya couldn't help but laugh at that reaction. "You know, you don't have to wear the same thing all the time. If I made you something it could be a sort of special occasion wear. Something nice for you, so you can choose to dress up in something that makes you look extra pretty sometime. Maybe if there's a special someone you would like to catch the eye of?" Kanaya's teasing of course, but she doesn't yet know that Nepeta already has a special someone.

Nepeta opened her mouth to complain that she liked wearing the same thing all the time! It was her favourite! But she shut it again when Kanaya pointed out that it could just be a special occasion kind of outfit, something to look pretty in, and although Nepeta didn't care too much about pretty - she was cute! that was enough! - the thought that maybe Tavros would like it stopped her from outright refusing.

Living with him meant he'd seen her be a mess more times than she could count, and he apparently liked her anyway, but that didn't mean he shouldn't also get a chance to see her looking particularly nice, right? "Hmmmm..."

"Hmmm?" Kanaya mimiced. "Could that be the sweet note of someone concidering the idea of wearing something different for once? Don't worry, I know you're very attached to your current look. Now, the fact that my argument has at least started to sway you raises another question." She winks at Nepeta and gives a sly smile as she askes, "Is there someone special you're thinking about wearing a nice outfit for? I think I could tailor something to help catch his or her eye..."

"Welll, purrhaps there is." She giggled and flopped her head onto Kanaya's shoulder, managing to look bashful and sneaky at the same time.

"I don't think I need to catch their eye," since she'd somehow managed to do that already without even knowing how, "but it would be furry nice to have something special to wear just fur them! Fur special occasions maybe." Like dates. Ooh, a date! They hadn't been on one yet thanks to being stuck on the island, but Nepeta hoped they'd have the chance for one sooner rather than later.

"Oh really?" Kanaya said, raising an eyebrow. Suddenly her face lit up (metaphorically, literally it was already quite lit up to begin with). "I understand!" She doesn't understand. She giggles and grabs Nepeta in a hug, excitedly barraging the poor oliveblood with questions. "I'm so very happy for you Nepeta. Did he figure out you were pining for him or did you have to tell him? Or was it that Karkat secretly felt the same way about you and finally admitted it?"

"You do?!" She beamed at her - she did, really? Well, Kanaya was always very percepti...oof, she was being hugged! And Kanaya was giggling! Well, that was okay, she could hug back and laugh just as happily.

And then the hug and laughter quickly turned into awkward flailing. "W...WHAT?! No! Wait! What? How did you know about that too?! Did everyone know?! It's not Karkat! Karkat is matesprits with Eridan! When I got here there was an event where people said things they didn't mean to and he told me he knew how I felt but he didn't feel the same way..."

Ahaha, she shouldn't be feeling so bad reliving it, especially now she was flushed for Tavros. But it had been so horribly awkward at the time and she'd probably always have a tiny crush on their nubby-horned leader, so she was kind of wilting in Kanaya's arms as she explained.

Kanaya lets go of her and almost stumbles backwards. "Oh I'm so Sorry! I just thought... OH." Remember that cute blush? It's back, and ten times as strong. Her cheeks look almost like a normal troll's skin, darkening against her current glow. "I knew about your crush and I simply assumed that-"

And then the realization hits. "Wait, Karkat is matesprits with WHO?" Kanaya seems to be taking a moment to process this, and she decides to sit down for a moment.

Wait no where did her hug just go?! But hold on a second...

"You really really knew?! How did efuryone know, I was so careful about it! I didn't even tell Equius!" Although that was mostly because she'd known her moirail would never approve and would most likely explode at the very thought.

Uh oh. Did she just break Kanaya? She sat down next to her, patting her shoulder. "I know. I know. It's furry hard to believe."

Hard to believe? Maybe. Right now though Kanaya's having a bigger problem with the implications of that relationship. She trusted Karkat when he told her that she shouldn't attack Eridan, that Eridan had changed. But now she knows Karkat's judgement can't be impartial when it comes to the seadweller. And Karkat didn't even tell her something was going on between them. She couldn't decide if she was angry at Karkat, or if this meant she couldn't trust him again... No. She knew she could trust him in most things, just maybe not this. She'll have to be careful about it, but really, she dealt with Eridan before, and would do so again if necessary. As for Karkat... maybe he'll admit to it eventually. She could understand him not being so willing to come out with it to her right away. She's still upset with him though.

"Uhh... Yeah. That's very hard to believe. Again, sorry about my misunderstanding. It wasn't obvious but I could see you were always interested in him. I guess what really clinched it was finding your shipping wall later... after you ... Yeah." Kanaya gave an awkward smile to Nepeta as she desperately grasped the last chance she saw to change the topic of conversation way. "So If not Karkat, then who is the lucky someone?"

"It's okay...and I didn't mean to tell you like that either! It's just furry hard to imagine Karkat efur deciding he liked me like that after everything he said about it..." Her mouth quirked as she spoke. She hoped that letting slip who his matesprit was wasn't going to cause problems for their leader.

"You mean after I died?" It was actually really difficult to even think about, her things and drawings being left behind for her friends to find and not being there anymore...it gave her an uncomfortable feeling inside and though she'd thought she'd come to terms with it she felt abruptly like she might cry.

She closed her eyes, thinking of Equius alive and well here, and happy in all his quadrants, thought of Tavros's shy face lighting up whenever she surprise!tackled him. It calmed her down enough for her to manage a smile, though she couldn't bring herself to say anything more.

"Y- ... yes. I'm sorry for bringing it up again. It's just... it's what happened." Kanaya sat, at a loss for more words. Nepeta, Equius, Tavros, Feferi... Vriska... even Eridan was here. Each and every one of them seemed to know what happened, or what would happen. They were brough here, and could be sent back at any time, back to the fate they knew to be waiting for them. She couldn't even start to understand how it must feel to be aware that you could go back to that at any time. She could barely wrap her head around the idea that most of them seem to have accepted it. For them it's been weeks... hell, almost sweeps since they came here, since they were in the veil. From kanaya's perspective, their deaths happened within the last day. She barely had a chance to really think about them, about what happened.

No. Kanaya refused to see it that way. She would not waste this time here feeling bad for her friends, not while they were alive and well in this place. "Nepeta. We both know what happened in the veil, and we cannot change that. I don't know why we were brought here, but I am glad that I have a chance to see you again. I don't want to waste my time here lamenting what happened. I want to spend time with my friends that I never thought I would be able to see again." Jade tears formed in her eyes as she rushed Nepeta up into another hug, much more fierce than the last. Dispite her words she couldn't help but cry into the shoulder of the olive blood.

"No...no, it's okay, I'm sorry! It's just still hard to think about someti...Kanaya? Oh, Kanaya, no, no, please don't cry!" Green tears were rolling down her own face now and she held her friend close, giving her time to grieve in spite of begging her not to cry just moments before.

She stroked her hair and cradled her, continuing to hold her tight. And after a while, "You're right, you're right of course. We can't change anything but we've all been given such a wonderful chance here! And we're happy, all of us are really really happy, and it's only better now that you're here with us too. We won't waste any of the time we have!" Just a few minutes not, olive tears mingling with jade as she continued to meet that fierce hug with all her strength, bolstering up her resolution not to slide back into the wreck of a troll she'd been those first few unhappy weeks she'd spent in the bubble. She may be dead back home, but here she had so much to live for.

Kanaya had never really been a hugging kind of troll, but right now it was rather nice. She had initiated it for Nepeta's benefit, but in the end she found herself comforted just as well. Her tears were half bitter, and half forged in joy.
"It's... It's alright. I'm fine. I really am happy to be able to see you all again!" She said, as she pulled back to show Nep that she was smiling. "I'm sorry for scaring you, I'm not sad about this opportunity. but overjoyed." Kanaya wiped her eyes with her hands, then looked at Nepeta pointedly. "Now, no sneaking out of it with distractions and tears. Who is it that you're thinking about that you would conciser wearing something special for?"

"I'm really happy we have you here with us too now," Nepeta assured her, reluctantly allowing Kanaya to pull back from the hug. She wasn't quite sure if she really meant it, if they were just happy tears or if she was only trying to make her feel better. But her friend's smile seemed genuine, enough for the kitty-like troll to grin back at her and pat gently at her cheek once it had been wiped clean of tears,

"Oh! Heehee, that's right, I furgot to answer you about that!" She looked bashful yet happy and definitely rather excited, still in the giddy first rush of her first ever matespritship. "It's Tavros! He told me just a few days ago that he pities me and I realized I felt the same way about him too and we're matesprits now!"

"Oh, that's wonderful! I'm happy for you both. When did he get here? does he have his robot legs or wheelchair?" Tavros and Vriska are both here... That's not something Kanaya wanted to have to worry about but after the events in Sgrub she couldn't help it. They seemed distant in the veil though, so maybe it wouldn't be anything to worry about. "If I'm going to make you a dress maybe I could make him something nice to match."

"A while befur me, I don't know how long befur exactly! And he has his robot legs! So he can walk and everything and he's really really happy about it! We play together all the time, even running and chasing, and sometime he picks me up and carries me too!" She beamed as she thought of how much more confident Tavros seemed now that he could walk again and wasn't reliant on anyone. If anything, for a while she'd very much been the one relying on him, after the double shock that was waking up here after her own death and Equius breaking up with her.

...and don't even start her on the subject of Vriska, Kanaya. "I think he'd like that! The top part will have to fasten up especially fur him though, beclaws of his horns. Unless it's a shirt!"

She won't start Nepeta on that subject if Nepeta won't start Kanaya on that subject! Though in the coming weeks Kanaya might find that she has quite a bit more to say about it than most, for no she has no problem keeping quiet about Vriska. "Don't worry, I've designed around awkward horns before. The practicalities of an outfit can be just as important as making sure the clothing complements the shape of the person and their horns."

Nepeta is completely happy for the subject not to be started by either of them! And therefore the subject of their least favourite spider troll was avoided for a while at least. "Yes, yes, you're right of course, and you know all about clothes so I'm sure you'll make it purrfectly! Ohhh, what are you going to make him? Something dashing??"
