Identity Crisis
Who: Dark Link and anyone who comes across him
Where: The park
When: January 5th, dusk
Status: Open
It hurts...
Not the park bench to the face, though that had dislocated his nose and given him two black eyes, causing him to look like a raccoon until he discovered Vatheon's version of a fairy's fountain, the coral.
No, he was fine now, physically, and he was safe here, camped out under the trees, even if his sword and shield had gone missing. What hurt was something else.
She knows everything. She knows about Hyrule, and magic, and everything I don't.
He fought to put the breaks on that train of thought, terrified of what lay around the next cognitive bend. But, as trains do, his thoughts rolled irrepressibly onward.
What if she's right? What if I'm not Link?
A long pause as his whole being fought tooth and nail to keep away from the looming question.
...if she's right, then what's the point of me?

His voice nearly hit an anxious shriek on the last word, causing him to pause and clear his throat. He heaved a heavy sigh. "Go away."

"...I... I don't think Miss Zelda hates you." he paused, wishing that he would actually be able to say something helpful for once.
"And... I kind of... know... how it is when you're not sure who you are."

He trained one eye on Ruca, not fully turning back towards him but clearly he had Dark Link's attention now.

He walked closer again, then kneeled down beside Link.
"...There was this person - I guess you could say we were the same, yet completely different." he scratched the back of his head. That probably sounded confusing. "He died before I was born, but..." his gaze turned distant. "His memories were still alive... in my dreams. He was strong, fearless and everyone admired him..."
He sighed a little.
"And I was nothing like that. I'll never be, but at that time I felt lonely and useless ...I wished I could be him."

Because that had to be the way it would happen. If it wasn't, if Zelda was actually right, then...
He shuddered, that feeling of fading into nothing just before he arrived on Vatheon sending an unpleasant chill through him, and he decided not to think about it.

"...Do you really believe in that?" he paused for a moment. "Is that... really what you want to do?" he asked calmly.

His gaze drops to the ground.
"...You don't have to do this... It won't change anything anyway. No matter how similar you are to the other Link, you're still two different people." He pauses for a moment. "No matter what would happen, no one could ever replace him." He looked back at Link. "Just like no one could ever replace you."
Sorry man x.x he's doesn't take well to blunt confrontation of his issues
"What do you know!? It's my purpose to replace him! It's what I was made for! There isn't any "me"! There's just two of us and I have to beat him so I can even be a person!"
His form begins to dim and waves of darkness radiate from him as they did the other day in the park. His eyes glow blood red and leave trails of eerie light as he moves, still screaming at Ruca.
"You don't know anything so shut your mouth before I shut it for you! Go away!!"
No, it's fine. but yelling at this boy here always results in crying xD;
"I-I'm sorry, I-I didn't mean to upset you!"
Ruca was obviously frightened by what was happening. He could fight if it was necessary, but he didn't want to. He didn't came here to fight. He wanted to help the other!
But it seemed he couldn't do anything in the end. He just made things worse. He should had known better it would end like this. It would be best if he never said anything. Now it was too late and it was all his fault the other was upset.
Before he knew tears were falling from his eyes.
"I'm sorry. I'm so useless. I'm so sorry." He was repeating that over and over again.
Doesn't phase Dark Link when he's worked up x.x He'll feel bad later though!
"Run away, little human! I don't want to see your face anymore!"
His voice sounded doubled, as if through a distorted microphone, and he continued to advance on Ruca, towering over the smaller boy.
on the other hand Ruca will be depressed for the next week or so
The situation seemed really bad.
And he was aware that if he stays, things could get even worse.
"I-I'm sorry." he muttered one last time, before he backed away from Link, then ran away from the place as fast as he could.
...Which wasn't too fast, since Ruca was really bad at running.
Sorry T~T DL's a messed up kid.
He threw himself back down under the tree, the last of the shadows leaving him as he buried his head in his arms and sobbed once, bitterly, and wondered how he was supposed to be Link if no one liked him.
