[Shizuo hadn't gone back to Zelda's. He was probably never going back again. It was now very clear to him that he only led Zelda into dangerous situations. Izaya had hurt her in the best way he knew how.
It never for a moment occurred to him that Izaya intended anything otherwise.
He chased Izaya around until he just couldn't anymore, until everything crumbled around him and Shizuo just stopped. Then he lost it. Years of slowly-built control that he finally had been able to glimpse in a few short moments with Izaya had been destroyed. He tore up lampposts, signs, vending machines - anything he could get his hands on, until finally, Shizuo sat down amidst his mess.
He blamed himself. He blamed Izaya. He hated Izaya, but in a strange way. Not like he used to hate Izaya, but in a way that was painful and unsettling. Every time Shizuo thought back to their tender moments he felt sick. He wanted to cut his heart out. Literally.
What was left of it.
Shizuo spent the night in an unoccupied home. He was vaguely aware that he was dirty and that there were little blood splatters on his clothing, but he did nothing to take care of these facts. He slept fitfully and had nightmares.
The next day, he wandered around aimlessly. Desperately wanting to stay away from people, Shizuo ventured to the abandoned amusement park. And stumbled upon Vegeta.
Izaya had wanted to protect Shizuo - or so he had said - and that's why he told Vegeta to leave him alone. But Izaya himself had destroyed Shizuo, so that didn't matter anymore. Shizuo had been torn open, made vulnerable, and Izaya had taken advantage of that.
Love. Izaya had said love, once. But how could someone who loved him want to destroy everything that mattered to him?
Shizuo was filled with too many conflicting emotions, and it made him angry and destructive - and who better to take out his violence on than Vegeta? Vegeta was the one person Shizuo knew for a fact could take it. So upon seeing him, Shizuo calls out and tries to draw him into a fight. His tone, quite like Shizuo himself, is unstable and wavering.]
Vegeta! I don't know what Izaya told you, but fuck him. Come fight with me.
