14 - Loneliness
Who: Dhaos doing something ill-advised
What: an attempt to exit the barrier around the island goes awry
When: backdated to about 1am
Where: his front yard, the island
Status: technically just a hiatus announcement, but feel free to react
Loss is a very potent emotion. It holds the power to rob a man of his will to carry on; it also holds the power to motivate a man to things he may not otherwise have dared attempt. The fear of it is perhaps as potent as the full taste of the emotion itself.
For Dhaos, loss has been the driving force around the majority of his actions for centuries. Even knowing that his time with those he became attached to here did nothing to ease the pain each time it came. He still feels it as keenly as he had those he had lost without warning; it had been bad enough to lose Zelda, but now that Ioder was gone... Well, he no longer has reason to remain here. There are precious few he cares for remaining in Vatheon, and only one has any true need for him.
In short, he has nothing left important enough to warrant not making an escape attempt. And if he can manage to return to retrieve someone else, so much the better; it may show the rest that they need not remain complacent as their bodies and minds are toyed with against their will.
...Or so he thinks as he stands there under the light of the summer moon, gathering his magic to step across the fabric of space and time, and leave this place behind. He takes one last look at the house that had come to be home the last few months, and then wordlessly takes that last leap of faith.
The effect is the same as a wild animal throwing itself too hard against the bars of a cage too strong for it alone to break. Unable to go forward, all that energy slams back upon that which it originated from. As he fades from consciousness, Dhaos wonders if this was his entire existence in a nutshell; nothing more than an exercise in futility...

Or bother the guy picking up the body-
Well. This is something he can hopefully focus on, even if he is fairly sure, from past experience, that it won't work terribly well for him.
Duke steps out to figure out the best way to pick up the remaining housemate, and...
might just end up watching as the dogs clean Dhaos' face for a little. It wouldn't hurt him, right?
