I spent the first week or so wondering when I was going to wake up from this weird dream, but I've settled in fairly well since then.

I must say I was surprised to hear that you work for the Order. I've never seen you before.

[Luckily he's a patient guy.]

I work outside of HQ so it's understandable we've never crossed paths. My area of work is limited to a smaller area than yours.

And what area of work is that?

I'm part of a small group privately employed by the Japanese government, so my business stays there.

[He smiles.]


It's pretty boring; nothing as interesting as what you do I'm sure.

[Yukio's eyes flick to the sword sitting nearby.]

Somehow I doubt that.

[His smile spreads to a grin.] Ooh, that hurts. What do I gotta do to prove I'm just an ordinary guy like anyone else?

[Except that's complete bullshit and he knows it.]

[And Yukio's pretty good at sniffing out bullshit.

But he smiles anyway. That polite sort of smile that says "Just because I'm being nice doesn't mean that I trust you".]

May I see your exorcist license?

[He stands up to head for his coat and pulls out the small license card, handing it to Yukio, that proved his status as a First Class Investigator...

Except it also states he works for the Blue Cross and not the True Cross. Odd.]

[Ah, well that's better. Yukio does like it when things are documented, nice and orderly. Shame there's that one little issue.

He flips the license around, thumb beneath the discrepancy.]

[He pockets his hands, watching Yukio as he eyeballs his license.]

I said I worked for a private group, didn't I?

How old are you? Fifteen, sixteen?

... Fifteen.

You're pretty young, to get as far as you are now. That's pretty impressive. [He means it sincerely.]

I'm sorry, but there's not much else I can tell you beyond what I've already told you. [He holds his hand out for the license back.] But I can tell you honestly there isn't much else to talk about. [Maybe, maybe not.]

[Yukio hands the license back with a heavy frown. Another person refusing to answer his questions. What a surprise.]

... I'm sorry. I'm sure you can understand my... curiosity.

I do, which makes me feel even more apologetic for not being able to tell you much more.

I hope this doesn't sour your impression of me, especially since we've just met!

[It kiiiinda does bring a negative light to things... but not so much that it's not salvageable. The apology sort of helps, too.]

Your resemblance to my brother is a bit disconcerting.

Yeah, it's strange, right? Nothing can explain it and what could explain it still wouldn't make a damn lick of sense.

[Yukio raises an eyebrow, obviously not in agreement with Night's last statement.]

... I suppose it's possible.

[The 'looks' part, not the 'good' part. Because Yukio is very mature, but he's still Rin's brother, and as such must think those sorts of thoughts.]
