( 003 ) ♔ ( don't feed the lions )
Who: Saber and anyone who approaches.
What: Hat silliness.
When: Monday, all day.
Where: All around the city. Please specify in your subject where your character is and when. Or, I'll do it in the next tag!
Style: I'll match what you do.
Saber (really) likes lions, so she was surprised to see a plush lion hat in her kitchen the next morning. Unable to resist (as it was ridiculously cute), the knight had placed it onto her head. And then she was unable to take it off. She had noticed her marking had glowed the previous night, so .. perhaps this was related to the curse?
The King of Knights had decided to go out early in the morning to get some information, not wanting to be seen with this hat on more than necessary. In about thirty minutes or so of making her way around the middle quadrant, Saber felt a unique craving for something with meat. Getting herself a decent breakfast, she then made her way outside again.
..And found herself extremely tired. Within a few moments, Saber found herself sitting on a bench near the plaza. And then she was on her side, and curled up. Ignoring the fact she likely looked ridiculous, and was in her armor, she napped peacefully.
And thus started a day of napping around Vatheon for Saber lion.

Plaza, afternoon?
He reaches a
pawhand out to nudge the sleeping Saber lion. "Buu?"no subject
The knight then blinks, and looks around. Perhaps not remembering where she was, she looks a bit caught off guard by her surroundings. Had she fallen asleep on this bench? In the open?
Ah, but it felt so nice. They're out in the daylight and it's so warm.
"Greetings," she states, finally, sitting there on the bench as she looks at the man. "I.. notice you, too, have a hat. Are you able to remove it?"
no subject
no subject
Is the man unable to speak? Saber had no idea the hats could have that kind of influence.
"I.. can you not talk, then? What a hassle."
no subject
no subject
She may as well try to be polite, despite the situation. With that, she slumps back into the bench in a lazy fashion as she looks down at the man.
"Is this your first curse..?"
no subject
Curse? These things happen here often then? He thinks about that a moment then nods. "Buu..." If only there was a way he could communicate better.
no subject
..Well, come have a sit, then? [ She's unsure what to say, but the bench has plenty of room. And he's sitting on the ground, which makes her feel a bit guilty. ]
no subject
"Buu! Buru!!" He tries to signal what he wants to her, moving one hand over his palm in a writing motion.
Closer to Saber's apartment, later afternoon?
As Pascal traveled around, having resisted the urge to put a hat on (yet - the weather didn't call for it!), she had been planning to move to a park bench for a few minutes before continuing to walk back towards her place.
Instead, she'd found the bench occupied by Saber, in full armor with a poofy hat, sleeping. Carefully, she poked her with her shotstaff. (
Because let's face it, Pascal's common sense doesn't let her ignore sleeping lions.)"Uh, are you okay?"
no subject
The knight jerked awake, looking over at Pascal in confusion for a moment. And then her face relaxed as she acknowledged what had happened again. The knight sat up.
"Yes, Pascal, I'm fine. I.. can't seem to get home without wanting to sleep everywhere. It's ridiculous."
Standing up to remove herself from the bench, the knight notices Pascal is holding her shotstaff outwards. ..Had she been awoken with that? That wasn't the most.. polite, but.. well. Saber wasn't exactly happy with her own mannerisms at the moment. She couldn't complain.
"I see you don't have a hat on. Don't put one on, or you won't be able to remove it."
no subject
"... Huh. That'd explain some of what I've been seeing today. I mean I thought people were being weird."
Pascal blinked a few times, as she pulled the shotstaff out to resting position.
"... The hat's really cute though."
no subject
Standing up, the knight rose to her tiptoes to stretch and then fell back into place.
"I'm unsure what else this curse may do to me, so.. I think I will finally retreat to my apartment."
Sleeping in public was bad enough. Before Saber goes to leave, though, she looks at Pascal curiously before speaking.
"If you were to put on a hat, what type of hat would it be? Theoretically, of course.. Please, don't do it." Saber asked, a little bit surprised by her own question. She wasn't the type for small talk, but Pascal was.. well, she was interesting. She was also hard to read.
no subject
... "You know, that's actually kind of a tough one to answer. I guess because I don't know all the hats that are available, for one. That'd be a major cause of troubles."
no subject
For Saber, it had been the lion hat. She had always adored lion hats. Of course, it wasn't a hat she'd want to wear in public, but..
no subject
"I just don't think about hats very often. My hair's good enough to protect me from the rain, so..."
no subject
With that, Saber nodded towards Pascal and then went on her way. She did go in the direction of her apartments. With luck, she may get there.
no subject
"Actually, that was just to keep distance in case you tried to pounce on me or something."
towards evening, wherever
He wasn't sure which category, if either, Saber sleeping in that hat fell into. Somehow it didn't seem completely ill-suited, although he normally would have considered something so 'cute' inappropriate for a king. It was probably something Flonne would like, and that thought was what made him speak up to rouse the woman from her nap.
"Oi."
no subject
Luckily, Saber is quite alert during her slumber. Even the minor exclamation was enough to wake her up. She sat up slowly, raising her hands above her head as she stretched. This was about the seventh or so time, so she was growing somewhat used to it..
How come each time she slept, she felt more tired?
"Greetings, Laharl," Saber started, yawning into her gauntlet. "I see you do not have a hat on your head. I'd advise you keep it like that."
no subject
"I take it that one's behind your cat nap. Did someone prank you earlier?" It was difficult for him to imagine her putting it on of her own free will.
no subject
The knight sighs softly, and then shakes her head. Yes, perhaps it's silly, but there's no point in denying it.
"No. I found it in my kitchen this morning, and as I love lions, decided to put it on for a moment. .. I just couldn't take it off afterwards. I had no intentions on keeping it on.."
no subject
"Is it just making you sleep, or have you had any urges to stalk the local wildlife? Or the locals." Laharl wasn't picky. Either of those options would be pretty hilarious.
no subject
Saber's not worried about being a danger, so to say, as much as she is humiliating herself. Really, why did she have to put on the accursed hat?
no subject
"It really doesn't come off?" he asked, and without waiting for an answer, reached over to try yanking it off himself.
no subject
The hat came off as Laharl pulled it. Blinking, with her face darkening considerably, the King of Knights sighed.
"I swear, there was even another gentleman on the network this morning that couldn't.. and then Shinjiro tried to pull his own hat off in front of me and was unable."
Just as she knew that she had genuinely tried to pull the hat off several times, too.
"So we cannot take it off ourselves, but others can? What a simple solution. Well, thank you, Laharl."
no subject
"It is pretty simple, if you've got someone willing to lend a hand." He paused, and then realized that sounded as though he were referring to himself. "Of course, I was just curious. You don't thank a demon."
no subject
With that, Saber nodded.
"I'm relieved though, as that makes the rest of my week much easier. I just.. need to ensure that no more hats come into contact with my head.."
Considering people were.. how they were, she wouldn't be surprised if some were throwing hats onto others for amusement.
no subject
"Tch. Some people are gonna be pranking with these, aren't they?" Which... admittedly could be a lot of fun, depending on the person and the hat. It seemed to be happening enough without him helping it along though. "Well, as long as it's not my head."
no subject
"I have had a long day. ..Oddly, I'm still tired. It is late, though. Best regards, Laharl. I shall see you around."
Nodding to him, Saber makes a mental note. This is another small instance where Laharl had helped her, even if in a minor way.
Plaza, around lunchtime
Maybe the dog would share with the lion?
yess, I was going to tag you.
..Oh, what is that he has? The knight picks herself up off of the bench and walks over to Shinjiro.
"..Ah, good day, Shinjiro. What do you have there?"
Beef jerky is something Saber has not experienced yet, but from the smell of it.. something she definitely wants to try.
xD
no subject
Shinjiro is wearing a knit cap, but it appears there's something else underneath it.
"Are you.. wearing another hat..?"
no subject
She knows something's up. Under a curse's influence or not, Shinjiro finds it hard to lie, especially when cornered in situations like this. He stops chewing and looks away from her, uttering an unusually sharp whine.
no subject
She began to look around, unsure which direction he had come from.
"..Where did you get that jerky..? I want to get some.."
no subject
After a series of swift tugs, he discovers those ears are firmly rooted to his head. Not even pulling separate strands of hair out of the headband's teeth will loosen its grip, and the ears are sewn onto the band well. The stitching won't even fray or pile under his nails.
"The convenient...damn it..."
no subject
"I quickly found out I couldn't remove mine, either. And my mark had also flashed last night. I am fairly certain the hats are part of the curse."
As he was struggling, Saber was eyeing that bag of jerky. She stepped over it, but stopped her own hand from reaching out. Collecting herself, she turned to Shinjiro again.
no subject
"I ain't gonna act like a dog." Maybe if he focused, he could fight the instincts and urges...
"Here, eat the rest of this. It's got too much sodium for me..." He paused, starting at the jerky inside the clear windows of the plastic pouch. "And...meaty..."
no subject
Saber had already grabbed the bag, though. Holding it with her gauntlet that was more like a mitt, she reached into the bag with her fingered gauntlet and pulled out one of the sticks. As soon as she shoved it into her mouth, she released a quiet sound of contentment as she began to chew.
