This birthday party is totally on time

Who: Everyone who knows Tifa :|
When: Backdated to Tifa's birthday
Where: The Island on the beach

[ Cloud is not exactly the best party thrower in the world, but Zack (and some extra advice from the island) meant that he had at least gotten some idea on how to make it not the worst thing he ever did. It was a simple set up on the beach with a very shoddy attempt at a birthday cake (it was at least round and frosted, gold star for effort) and a table with some food, plus a nice bonfire that was maybe a little bit too fun to make.

Hopefully it would be fun for everyone else and more importantly fun for Tifa. ]

[ He was actually in a bathing suit. And it wasn't black, even. Or, well, at least not all of it. There was definitely some blue in there and it was a lighter shade so it was the attempt that mattered. It was a step up from the heavier amount of clothing he usually donned.

With all the planning, an actual present still had yet to be thought up, so it was empty-handed that he eventually approached her on the beach. ]

... Happy birthday, Tifa.

[It wasn't like he looked bad in black. And certainly not in quite a lot less of it.

Tifa smiled warmly at the words, which were really all she had been expecting from him. She hadn't figured on a party, or on gifts, but who knew at this point?]

And I guess it's your fault everyone else knows about it.

[ He smiled a little, rubbing his neck. ]

Zack and Sora said you might like it. So they might be to blame too.

I figured Zack would be your partner-in-crime. I don't think I've met Sora.

[She tilted her head curiously. Was Cloud making friends?]

Mmm. He said he knew me back home. I don't remember him, but...

[ He shrugs. ]

He seems like a good kid.

Someone from home, huh...

[And someone from maybe even farther in the future than Cloud.]

You'll have to point him out to me if he comes. You think I'm supposed to know him, too?

[ He shrugs, not really sure. He hadn't thought to ask, actually, which was odd. ]

He knows of you. He said that I was looking for you when we met. I don't know if he knows you personally.

Looking for me? I hope that doesn't mean we get separated.

I guess I'll find out if someone I don't know recognizes me.

[ He nods in agreement. After everything, he'd really rather their lives got kind of quiet or something. ]

Mm. If he's here, I'll introduce you.

And I thought I'd be introducing you to my friends.

I guess you've met a few of them?

[ He's just full of surprises. He gives her a small smile over that, even, and shrugs. He's pretty sure he's met a few - or at least, that they commented to him on the network when he asked about her birthday. ]

Yeah. I guess so. I don't think I got their names, though.

Well, I can at least fill in the blanks.

[She surveys the party again, glancing out at the ocean.]

You know I've been here all this time and never been to a beach party? How's the water?

Guess this is a good time for a first. [ He shrugs at the second question, looking out at the ocean himself. ] Haven't been in yet.

Why don't we give it a try?

[She's already walking to the water line as she makes the suggestion, so she can see how it feels on her toes.]

[ Well, that doesn't even give him enough time to decide if he's answering yes or no. He's follows after her pretty quickly, at least, Stopping once his feet hit the water. It feels kinda nice :3 ]

[It wasn't so much a yes or no question. It is her birthday, after all. She wades a little bit into the water, so the waves come lapping halfway up her calves and catch at her wrap.]

It feels pretty nice.

[ He smiles a little, glad to see her enjoy it some. He wades in a little deeper, mostly so he can get closer to her.

... Because close proximity is better for splashing. Which is exactly what he's going to do, aiming for Tifa's head. ]

[She lets out a yelp of surprise, but doesn't waste any time in whirling around and splashing him right back. If you want a water war, Cloud, that's what you'll get.]

[ Isn't that what you do in the water with people? ~~Even if it ruins your spikes.~~ He grins and goes to send a bigger splash her way this time. ]

[Don't some people swim or play ball? Tifa hasn't really had much opportunity for water fun before, but she's not letting that stop her now. She tosses her wrap towards the shore before it gets any wetter than it already is, and to free up her legs more. Then she's back to shoving water back at him.]

[ Well maybe boring people, yes. But real fun happens with water wars. Which is why he goes to get closer as he's splashing, inching slowly so as not to ~arouse suspicion~ or anything of the sort.

Dunking is more fun to do by surprise, which is why once he gets close enough, he goes to wrap his arms around her waist to try and lift her off her feet. ]

[She never sees it coming, because it's Cloud. She can't recall him being this playful since... ever.

She shrieks with laughter as he hoists her up.]

Cloud!

[ He's just full of surprises, clearly. He gives her a small smirk, holding her above the water's edge, not dropping her juuuust yet. ]

Yeah?

This is not how you treat the birthday girl.

[Except from the tone of her voice, it totally is. She's expecting him to dunk her anyway of course, and she'll just have to get him back for it.]

[ He lets out a small laugh, doing a couple of faux-drops, before he finally tosses her into the water. ]
