Plan 1 → [closed]

who: Annabeth, Leo and Percy
when: May 13th
where: Their base on the island
style: Prose
status: closed

Annabeth flips open Daedalus' laptop, fresh from Leo's restoration work. It feels much better to use now without the sickening crunch of sand that had accompanied every key press. Opening a fresh document, she titles it "Vatheon - Important Notes" and miraculously the machine keeps working past the ten or so seconds it had lasted before.

Looking up, she grins at Percy and Leo who are also sitting around their base, eating their lunches. "All right guys, I officially call this meeting to order. Now's a good a time as any to regroup and catch up on what we've learned so far, since they've said we can go down to the bubble now.

"Leo, do you want to start?"

Leo had to quickly chew and swallow the bit of food he'd taken just before Annabeth turned the floor over to him.

"Okay, so. I found out a lot of things, but I'll start with our marks. I learned that there's a lot more mojo to them than you told us the other day." He took a deep breath and looked seriously at the both of them. "There are periodic curses that happen here and they occur through the mark. Dirk said they do things like turning them into kids or giving them cat ears, or turning their bodies into other things. Nothing to harm you, but still not cool. Nothing so bad as the curse on Hephaestus cabin..."

Leo trailed off, waiting for the others reactions.

Percy raised his eyebrows.

"Curses? A few people I talked to hinted that strange things happened around here a lot, but...what? How often do things like that happen, do you know? And what else is going on with the marks?"

None of this was making any sense.

"I learned that time at home isn't passing while we're here. But at the same time that there are people who have been here two years and longer."

"Whoa... King Arthur is here? So cool. Are any of the knights of the round table here? What about Lady Guinevere?" Leo allowed himself to be sidetracked for a moment before returning to the more serious subject. He didn't even wait for an answer to his questions.

"I'm not sure. I should have asked for more details, but I don't think anyone really knows more than that. I also heard about the being stuck in limbo bit. Dirk said that people leave and when they get home they don't remember this place. And that sometimes they come back. It's hit or miss on if they remember this place when they return. He also said stuff about people from our world might arrive from a time before or after ours. So they might not know everything we know or they might know more than we do."

"Wait, yeah, that's really cool. King Arthur. And Italy. And trolls and a bubblegum prince." Percy shook his head. It was pretty unbelievable. But after meeting a good number of people right out of Greek (and Roman) mythology, he was kind of used to crazy things happening. This was just kind of crazier than usual.

"This place seems so...random," he said thoughtfully. "Like we're a jumble of people who are kind of important where we came from. Like...someone's collecting us or something." He shuddered. "And apparently doing experiments on us."

"Most of the people I've talked to seem pretty jaded about the whole thing. They've been here a long time and are resigned to it." That was not really sitting well with Percy.

"Cool! Can't wait to meet him," Leo said, letting the conversation about King Arthur die down for now. There were more important things to discuss.

"I don't like the idea of being part of anyone's collection, but I don't think we have much choice until we're able to leave."

Leo tried to think back to everything else Dirk had told him about this place. "Oh! These things," he pulled out the Starfish Communicator, "they can work like cell phones, too. So we can use them for phone calls and text messages, not just for using the network."
