fairy tales of yesterday will grow but never die

Who: Ron DeLite and Bro Strider
When: April 21st
Where: The Island
Style: Action!
Status: Closed

[After his chat with Gamzee, Ron set off to try and find his-- his mentor, or teacher, or friend, or whatever Bro was, to make sure he was okay, to make sure he wasn't mad at Ron for missing lessons-- when Ron had checked his SFC, he'd realized he was missing nearly a month of time, which was way too much time to be missing from any kind of lesson!-- and just... just because Bro was smart and tough and someone Ron felt like he could trust.

Unfortunately, Ron is completely unfamiliar with the island, and gets lost pretty quickly, despite how relatively small it is.

Who possibly could come to save him?]

[For the first few days, Bro's student being in a magical coma was kind of amusing. It had all the merits of messing with someone who was totally wasted, minus the actual booze. So yes, he'd doodled on Ron's face and yes, he'd made Ron wear a silly hat. After a week, Bro had gotten bored with the situation and thought it was about time for Ron to wake up. Except he didn't.

So for the following weeks, Bro had let himself into Ron's apartment from time to time to check up on him. There were times when he'd linger for an hour or two, making himself comfortable in the living room. The month of April hadn't been a very fortunate one for Bro, after all. From Dave leaving to missing out on Lil Cal for a week, to Davesprite not remembering to Davesprite leaving for a few days... Ron's apartment was quiet, at least, and he'd taken comfort in the fact that unconscious as the other guy was, Bro wasn't alone there.

And then the bubble had flooded, so Bro doesn't even have that little comfort anymore. It's like this place is attempting to piss him off at every turn. He could risk it and go back down into the bubble to his own apartment, which is up so high the water would take a while longer to reach it at this pace, but why bother? After his last encounter with Davesprite, he doesn't really want to be there too much anyway. So he'll just have to settle for the island.

This afternoon, he's taking Barkbeast for a walk in the forest. The cheerful robot puppy is wearing a leash and everything. All for the sake of irony, of course, because Bro could just as well program the little mutt to stay within a five feet radius of its master. It's not as if it needs exercise or the opportunity to take a leak, either. It's just a good way to pass the time.]

[Barkbeast hears Ron just a few seconds before its owner does, its ears already perking up at the distant footsteps. As for Bro, he stops walking the moment Ron calls out to him. There were times over the past week when he'd begun to wonder if the guy was ever going to wake up, but it looks like he's just fine now. That's one good thing today's got going for it, at least.

He snatches Barkbeast up from the ground with one hand and flashsteps closer to Ron. He's still staying at a comfortable six feet distance, but this is close enough to shoot his protégé a wide smirk.]

Well well, look who's up. Good morning, sleepin' beauty.

[Bro still thinks Ron is a dead ringer for a feminine Princess Leia, so yes, he is a pretty princess. That sure is a lot of mumbling. It's a good thing Bro's hearing is pretty sharp, so he can catch all of that. He lowers Barkbeast to the ground again, his gaze still on Ron. As soon as the puppy's paws touch down, it scampers over to the other man to sniff his ankles. Bro does absolutely nothing to pull it back.]

Don't worry, man. It's probably still over in your apartment. I'd go get it for you, but you're a grown dude who can do his own chores. You can go down there and make your way through the sunken mess yourself. Consider it a test.

[Barkbeast gives the hand a short, snorting sniff, which is followed by a somewhat mechanical-sounding yip. Then it ascertains it's met the standars of its programmed greeting protocol and retreats to Bro's side again.]

Last I checked, water was startin' to creep into the middle district. It's the lower district that's got the biggest trouble, really. As long as you avoid bigass puddles, you should be fine. ...Assumin' the rest of the barrier doesn't crack while you're down there. [The shrug of the shoulders he's giving could be considered way too casual for a horrifying prospect like that.]

Naw, man. I saved all my stuff just fine. You just focus on getting your own shit outta there.

[It helps that Bro's apartment is on the top floor of a high apartment building. Technically, the water hasn't even reached it yet but he got most of his things out of there anyway.]

You've still got some time to waste up here, but I'd get to it a to the sap if I were you.
