Who: Maka Albarn and Yuri Egin
When: April 11th, Evening
Where: Some Restaurant
Style: [ are brackets okay? ]
Status: Closed!
[ It had been a little bit since she had asked to have dinner with Maka and get to know her a little, but then the curse happened, and, well ... things have been a bit crazy. That shouldn't stop their plans, though, and Yuri realized that.
Thus, the two of them were now at a restaurant; not an overtly fancy one, but it wasn't necessarily fast food either. Yuri was examining the menu curiously. ]
All of this looks really good ... have you decided what to get, Maka?

[And some things she's recognized from home, albeit without "Death" being before the title. Maka flips through the menu once or twice, noting down some things that look good before setting down the menu so she can concentrate on deciding which one to pick.]
Not that we don't get variety with Rin's cooking!

[ She scans the menu again. And she sighs. ]
It's so hard to decide ... I know I need to narrow this down, but I can't seem to make up my mind.
[ Yuri puts on a determined face as she realizes this. Okay. This decision is going down. ]

Cute.
Maka giggles. Yeah it might be rude to laugh at an adult, but she can't quite help it.]
You really are Rin's mother.

Well, you know what they say, right? "Like mother like son," or something like that? I guess he inherited a little more of me than I thought he would.

[Er.
Maybe not insult the lady's husband like right in front of her.]
...What was he like? Satan, I mean.

He's extremely vulgar, doesn't always make the best life choices, and has this tendency to poke at things just to get a reaction half of the time.
[ "Poke" is an understatement. Regardless, she smiles a little. ]
But then, that other half of him ... he's really just very lonely, and curious. That's the side of him that not a lot of people are able to see for themselves. And I guess it's not like they really can; after all, most anything Satan touches is burnt to a crisp. Rarely anybody can handle being touched by something with his power.
[ See, she understands why it's hard to really understand Satan. She just doesn't like that it is so hard to get the point across. She's someone who does understand him on a level most people don't, and nobody's really willing to listen to her view on things.
The fact that Maka is curious about this just kind of earns points for her, in her book. ]

[Really lonely. She had read about the so-called king of demons in mythological texts, but the word "lonely" had never been applied to him. "Fallen" definitely, "prince of lies" of course, but never lonely or curious. It makes him sound like a very young human, honestly.]
It'd be hard to make friends that way...Rin would hate me for saying this, but I think he can relate to Satan in that too, even if he doesn't want to associate himself with his father at all. Not that Rin destroys everything he touches, he just...has a hard time controlling his strength or his temper.

Yeah ... I'm very proud of him, though. He's grown up into such a fine young man. A strong one, and a very talented one. He's surrounded by people who love him. Life is hard, and it's even harder for him and Yukio, given their lineage ... but he's made do with the lot he was dealt, and he's got the things he needs to keep himself happy.
That's all a mother could want for her child ... to see him happy.
[ She sighs, looking back to her menu. She still couldn't decide. Drat. ]
Of course, it will only get harder for him. But I have faith that he and Yukio both will remain the strong young men they are, and will overcome anything that comes their way.
[ A pause. ]
... Or just toss it out of the way, in Rin's case.
[ She shrugs. ]
