Chocobo Races

[It's a lovely climate-controlled day in the bubble on Sunday, the perfect day for a chocobo race! Participants and spectators alike, it's time to gather in the stadium that's been set up in the amusement park quadrant!

Before the races the janitor is looking for help in setting things up properly and cleaning up any bird poo on the tracks so the area is nice and pretty once the event begins. Feel free to join in or just to laugh at questers scooping poop.

During the races, the stadium will be packed with the locals! Racers are encouraged to arrive early and calm their bird, the chocobos aren't used to quite so much noise. Spectators can just kick back and enjoy themselves. Poor unfortunate questers who have been wrangled into helping the janitor again will have to hand out food and clean up spills.

After the races, people looking to gather points are encouraged to help the poor janitor clean up the pigsty the locals have left behind. Hopefully everyone had enough fun to make it worth it!]

[Rather than answer, Equius eyes Darkleer, takes a step back... and then leaps onto the bird's back. He lands solidly, and Darkleer doesn't move at all, affecting an almost bored expression. This is something they've practiced many, many times. Equius takes the reins and twitches them a little, and Darkleer trots forward, his long legs chewing up the distance.]

I'm sorry, were you implying that Darkleer isn't perfectly trained?

[Thank you again, Summoner, for all your help training the bird. While Darkleer can be a royal pain in the ass overexuberant sometimes, he knows how to behave himself when he has to.]

[Karkat watches the whole thing, eyes narrowed, but more in annoyance than real aggravation.]

I'm saying if he got fussy enough over me having the brazen audacity to speak to you that it can't be that hard to break his concentration. Do you see Fern? She is the calm at the center of a storm, and none of this will rock her so badly that she loses sight of the goal, even without any fancy tricks to get on her back, you pretentious tool.

He's just high-spirited.

[And a jerk. Don't forget a jerk.]

Everyone knows that the finest of racing musclebeasts are high-spirited and lively, and it's the same for chocobos too. Your bird is too calm to do well in a race; she doesn't have the fire or the spirit to want to win.
