Chocobo Races

[It's a lovely climate-controlled day in the bubble on Sunday, the perfect day for a chocobo race! Participants and spectators alike, it's time to gather in the stadium that's been set up in the amusement park quadrant!

Before the races the janitor is looking for help in setting things up properly and cleaning up any bird poo on the tracks so the area is nice and pretty once the event begins. Feel free to join in or just to laugh at questers scooping poop.

During the races, the stadium will be packed with the locals! Racers are encouraged to arrive early and calm their bird, the chocobos aren't used to quite so much noise. Spectators can just kick back and enjoy themselves. Poor unfortunate questers who have been wrangled into helping the janitor again will have to hand out food and clean up spills.

After the races, people looking to gather points are encouraged to help the poor janitor clean up the pigsty the locals have left behind. Hopefully everyone had enough fun to make it worth it!]

Ugh, oh my cod, it's like you're stalking me or somefin!

[ No, showing up in the same general place once is not, in fact, stalking. If anyone was playing stalker, it was little miss Feferi here. ]

I'm doing a quest. [ A brief pause. ] You know, since Lamufao was so nice and let us keep playing the game longer than the normal one week curse.

[ Fact. ]

Me coincidentally doing the same quest as you when I don't even like talking to you does not count as stalking. Stalking would be intentionally following you around, like, I don't know, you've been doing with my conversations all week? Does that ring any bells or do I have to fetch one to shake at you until the sound magically emanates knowledge into your bubble of a think pan?

And while we're playing that game, let me inform you also that the Lamufao has a habit of repeating curses now and then. This one happened before, over half a sweep ago.

[Nevermind it's the scientists and not the Lamufao, but if spreading faith about a big lump of coral is the goal, by fake aquatic god will he pretend he believes.]

[ Feferi really doesn't believe in the 'scientists.' There's a giant magical coral that sometimes gets glowy and will fix people and electronics, science doesn't need to enter the equation here.

Maybe that's a little bit backwards, but she believes what she wants whenever she wants.

She sticks her tongue out at him.
]

I bet it's never repeated it right after! Everyone seems really confused by that!

[personal profile] bethehugejerk 2013-03-23 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
[It is definitely backwards, but it's Feferi.]

[Karkat gives her a flat look.]

Do you even think before you let those word bunches you call sentences tumble out your mouth? It's not repeating right after it just happened; it's the same curse extended to double length, provided it actually ends next Sunday. If it was a repetition at least some of us would have been shuffled around to different classes and had our levels reset.

[Rude.

He didn't have to call on her bubbleheadedness all the time, did he? No, wait, this was Karkat. Karkat, the ever obnoxious and super mean and worst troll in all of spacetime because, well, just because. She didn't need reasons. She wasn't even sure the whole of why he made her so mad all the time.
]

You don't know that! It could have repeated without switching anyfin, faster than you could even tell. You're no god-coral expert.

[ Yes, yes, she was very smart. He couldn't argue against her flawless logic. ]

[She takes so much initiative to purposely come annoy him, so it's only fair. He'd probably do it anyway because really, that was dumb, and Karkat is not someone to let dumbness go by unremarked upon. It's in his blood.]

Yes, I do! There was no skip, no sign, no nothing, and what would be the point? You are making a logicless argument on a pointless premise and proving my prior assessment as correct as it's possible to be.

[IT'S NOT EVEN A GOD he wants to add, but barely keeps himself from doing.]

Your sponge is so dry and brittle that it's just rattling around in your pan, you know that? If it wanted, it could so that's that.

[ She huffs. ]

Maybe you should go stick your head in the sea. It might do you some good.

[personal profile] bethehugejerk 2013-03-23 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
[Karkat bares his teeth.]

Do you never fucking think? It's a coral! A big, weird ass coral! It couldn't make that happen because the scientists--the--

[Come on, self, get a grip. He rubs his hand (mitten) down his face, feeling the distinct pinch of a headache starting.]

Forget it. I am so sick of this stupid quest that if I were to physically vomit from it, my emesis would fill a volume equivalent to its own ocean and drown that coral where I wouldn't have to grind points out of the damn thing by telling people this crap! And why have you gone and assaulted me with info on it this whole week? What, Feferi Peixes, is the precise measure of your problem? Has some tentacled horror crawled its way up your ass and died there, whispering with its dying breath whatever the eldritch equivalent of my name is? It is just for the bubbleheaded funsies and I'm the victim? Are the scientists using you to mess with me again? Because I am tired of this.

[ Feferi, surprisingly, lets Karkat go through his whole little tantrum without interrupting. She has an answer for him, and it's a very good answer.

But, first, she was going to bask in the enjoyment of thoroughly getting under his husk before anything else. Basking... basking... basking... okay! Time to talk.
]

I just want to win, that's all. If that get's your sea-bleatbeast, then it's even better!

[ And now back to trying to shove this trashcan. ]

And just so there's no misunderstanding, it's because you're mean and you have a stupid face.
